The women’s team is also #23. They moved up 1 rank even though they lost a tough one to Florida state. We are a basketball school and a football school!!

Define "football school" . . .
December 23rd, 2019 at 6:40 PM ^
Football school = any program that has beaten their main rival twice in the span of their youngest player's lifetime. We still barely make the cut!

Michigan moves up to #11 in the latest AP Poll Gonzaga is also #1 now, giving Michigan an 18 point win over the current #1 team in the country

Oh, they’re #2 alright.

If being your version of number 2 means winning a lot of games, then I am on board.

No. He means they are DUNG!

They are feces

It doesn't even make for good arguments. These polls are 100% meaningless.
December 23rd, 2019 at 8:49 PM ^
Somewhat, in my opinion anyway.
The closer we get to March the more they mean, bc people naturally (I think rightfully) take these pollls with fewer grains of salt.
So while seemingly meaningless, the trajectory definitely matters- hard to be ranked top #X when you 'start' too low to be considered for top #X.

It felt like Oregon was the best team we've played so far... and Iowa State was good too...
December 23rd, 2019 at 2:40 PM ^
That win over Gonzaga is going to be huge going forward for the rest of the season. Great to have a dominant win like that in your back pocket to display to the selection committee.
December 23rd, 2019 at 2:45 PM ^
I agree. Haha
That when accompanied with the down to the wire OT loss to Oregon won't look too bad either.
December 23rd, 2019 at 2:42 PM ^
That blowout win over Gonzaga likely being the only blemish on the #1 Zag's record is going to continue to be huge week after week.
Interesting how it's not going to be the blowout win over usual top caliber North Carolina.
Both wins will keep the team in the top team discussion though as they hit the tough B1G road games and always give them the benefit of the doubt when ranking.
A win over Sparty in a few weeks will definitely the most weight for the season though.

being Gonzakga's only loss feels pretty good
UNC has fallen off huh?
December 23rd, 2019 at 2:55 PM ^
6 B1G teams in the top 25 and two more in the "others receiving votes" section. Conference play might get a little crazy....
December 23rd, 2019 at 3:10 PM ^
Quad 1 wins are looking up!!!
December 23rd, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
That OT loss to Oregon STILL rankles me...What could have been
December 23rd, 2019 at 7:31 PM ^
STILL! It STILL rankles you!!
What could have been? Get a grip. There is a good chance the result of that game won't even make a difference in our tournament seed in March.

The loss felt legit, as in we were beat by the better team that day. It didn't help that we couldn't make a shot in the first half. And then we finally started to make them in the second half and got close but Oregon responded as a good team would. It sucked losing but that game reinforced to me that we are at worst a top 15 squad this season. We'll get better as Wagner becomes more experienced. Tournament time will be interesting.

Michigan over Moo U is delicious.
Thank-you Santa.

Agree. I hate Izzo worse than any opposing coach in any sport. Biggest whiner out there.

Would be nice to see Zags play a Big 14 schedule some year.
Big fish. Small pond.
December 23rd, 2019 at 4:44 PM ^
At this point, let them go undefeated from here.
December 23rd, 2019 at 4:48 PM ^
They play in an easy conference, true, but what Mark Few has done at Gonzaga is pretty incredible. Tiny catholic school in the middle of nowhere and they compete on a national level year after year.
It’s not their fault the #1 teams keep losing.
December 23rd, 2019 at 5:26 PM ^
Gonzaga doesn't play another ranked opponent the rest of the season, so our 18 pt beat-down is going to keep helping our ranking. Michigan plays 7 ranked opponents over same time span so we will need that quality win alive. Go Zags !
December 23rd, 2019 at 6:25 PM ^
Not bad.
December 23rd, 2019 at 6:32 PM ^
That team down south has only beat Cincinnati Villanova Penn state and Kentucky. Let just hope we stay focused and best them this will only help us stop sounding like our football fans

I'm starting to think that Ohio State is less of a school than it is an athletics factory.
