Chase Young planning to stay at OSU
https://draftwire.usatoday.com/2019/12/14/chase-young-nfl-draft-ohio-state-return-2020/
Because they are allowed to have nice things.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:47 AM ^
Fuck me. That is just a bad decision on his part and our part.
December 14th, 2019 at 12:03 PM ^
Clearly getting his education is his first priority.
December 14th, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
That's just a bad call when you are a slam dunk to be a guaranteed top 3 pick in the NFL draft and guaranteed millions of dollars thereafter. You can come finish your education when your career is done.
December 14th, 2019 at 12:26 PM ^
But he might get injured and lose money.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:21 PM ^
Nah. O$U just pays better than the NFL.
December 14th, 2019 at 2:28 PM ^
I wonder how many loans it took to influence his decision.
December 14th, 2019 at 3:11 PM ^
Zero chance. He would have to be insane to risk a $35-40 million guaranteed contract. Plus another $10-20 million from NIL.
That is generational money.
December 14th, 2019 at 5:32 PM ^
Your 100% correct, he is saying that now but after the playoffs will announce he is going pro. He will never have a chance to earn that year of millions back. There is a debate if he should be #1 or 2 in the draft.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:47 AM ^
He's just afraid of being drafted by the Lions.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:50 AM ^
Which is ridiculous.
Even if the Lions get the #2 pick, they’ll just use it on a TE anyway.
December 14th, 2019 at 12:18 PM ^
They would still draft Chase Young. They would just play him at tight end.
I would be surprised if this not just pre tournament talking points. He will likely be in the draft this year once all is said and done.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:53 AM ^
Because the lions won’t have a top draft pick in 2021?
December 14th, 2019 at 12:19 PM ^
The Lions will be even worse next year.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:48 AM ^
cue the "because he has to take a pay cut" line
December 14th, 2019 at 11:53 AM ^
Because he has to take a pay cut.
December 14th, 2019 at 12:01 PM ^
Because he doesn’t want to take a paycut to ride LeBron’s dick.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:49 AM ^
I wouldn't expect him to say otherwise right now. They're in the playoff and don't want distractions. We'll see what he says after the postseason.
December 14th, 2019 at 12:58 PM ^
That’s 100% my thought too. He’s being a good teammate and avoiding being a distraction during the playoffs. I honestly think a week after the playoffs are over he will announce that he and his family prayed on it, and he made the hard decision to enter the draft.
December 14th, 2019 at 8:37 PM ^
100% this.
December 15th, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
This would be really dumb. But then again he does go to Ohio State.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:49 AM ^
He doesn't want to take a pay cut.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:57 AM ^
*Insert Ed McMahon laughter here.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:49 AM ^
Zero reason for him to come back really. He's a top pick.
December 14th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
Other than he’s a fucking moron, which is exactly why he went to OSU. No playing skool there.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:49 AM ^
"Leaning" isn't the same thing as "staying."
That is all talk until the bowl games are done. Come on. Why would he stay?
December 14th, 2019 at 2:04 PM ^
He's gone and ridiculous to think otherwise. Just the usual talk heading into the playoffs. Why would any top pick chance another Jaylon Smith type injury that could cost him millions.
December 14th, 2019 at 10:23 PM ^
Why would he stay? If I had to guess, there is one reason why he would stay: Heisman campaign. Being the second defensive player to win is an enticing prospect. Honestly, I don't recognize half the guys in the "Heisman house" commercials until their names get mentioned or they wear some gear from their school, but they have a lifelong revenue stream. It's really hard to destroy the goodwill one gains from winning a Heisman. Joe Burrow will be making money in Louisiana for the rest of his life. The only people who ruined their Heisman success that I can think of are O.J. and Johnny Manziel.
It's high risk, high reward.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
I wouldn't hold your breath, OSU fans.
December 14th, 2019 at 12:45 PM ^
Actually we know full well he’s gone, but it’s hilarious you guys are discussing it. I especially enjoy the hypocritical reasons why he would be such an idiot to do so
December 14th, 2019 at 12:59 PM ^
Congratulations, you used the term "hypocritical" incorrectly. I appreciate you trying to use a high school word though, good effort on your part
December 14th, 2019 at 1:00 PM ^
It's sad, really, when a comment that references t[tm]OSU fans gets an actual comment from such fans who not only lurk the MGoBlog but actually take the time to get a log-in and post.
I mean, you have all the opportunity in the world to engage in self-congratulatory and sycophant driven commentary at 11W or that Gerdeman site.
Yet, here you are.
December 14th, 2019 at 1:11 PM ^
I’ll tell you what’s sad, you guys talk more about OSU than you do Michigan. But it’s sad that an OSU fan would come here to see what garbage you are spewing about OSU? Here’s a thought, if you don’t want OSU fans here, maybe find some new topics to discuss. And if you want to know what else is sad, read through this thread. The same people who attack kids that play for OSU based on some false premise that they don’t care about school are now ripping the mere idea of a kid returning to school. That’s sad, but because it’s coming from Michigan fans, you won’t call it out
December 14th, 2019 at 1:52 PM ^
I can't tell whether you really believe that we talk about OSU more than our own team or whether you just think you can get away with such an asinine statement.
Either way, you're delusional.
December 14th, 2019 at 3:17 PM ^
I’m obviously saying that facetiously. Of course you don’t talk about OSU more than Michigan, but there’s an awful lot of OSU discussion here. And anytime an OSU fan posts, somebody has to play the “you must have such a sad life” card.
December 14th, 2019 at 2:23 PM ^
Oh noes! I made the t[tm]OSU fan mad.
Indignant in your vitriol. Stay strong valiant defender of the Scarlet and Grey (insert laughing emoji).
December 14th, 2019 at 2:54 PM ^
Seriously, it is sad man. I’m assuming you’re a grown man and not a kid? If you’re a teenager I would understand it I guess.
I can honestly say I have never been to an OSU blog, and why would I want to?
December 14th, 2019 at 3:26 PM ^
Well Bill22, I assure you there are Michigan fans on OSU threads too, namely when the topic is about Michigan. And I don’t ever recall anybody claiming they must have a sad life because of it.
December 14th, 2019 at 3:04 PM ^
Lol... Chase Young coming back to play skoool ?
His tutor can finish his online courses while he’s making millions in the NFL.
December 15th, 2019 at 12:46 PM ^
Yeah, I kinda agree with you, it's a bad look.
December 14th, 2019 at 1:03 PM ^
Trust us, we're not. But thanks for the concern!
December 14th, 2019 at 3:25 PM ^
Zero sacks against Michigan, zero pressures, zero TFLs.
His career was a non-factor against UM, and I dont care about what he does he rest of the year.
December 14th, 2019 at 3:25 PM ^

December 14th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
This makes no sense at all.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
He is just saying this to avoid the distraction of declaring for the draft before the playoff. He is going pro.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
Dude is selfish, all about himself. He isn’t staying.
December 14th, 2019 at 12:08 PM ^
Yeah, if you were offered the opportunity to make a move that would get you over $50 million in your first contract alone, I’m sure you’d just say “No thanks, I’m going to stay where I am getting paid essentially nothing. Because I’m not selfish like that.”
December 14th, 2019 at 12:16 PM ^
December 14th, 2019 at 5:43 PM ^
Selfish meaning he wants attention; wants his name out there. Just like taking cash and being suspended, I just meant it in that terms.
December 14th, 2019 at 11:52 AM ^
He’s not coming back. Only way in hell he does is if OSU loses a heartbreaker in the natty.
