Josh Uche accepts invite to Senior Bowl

Which means he is not coming back next year (for those that thought he would be)
He is going to be damn good in the NFL in a 3-4 defense
November 7th, 2019 at 9:26 PM ^
Not a surprise and good for him.
November 7th, 2019 at 9:28 PM ^
Against OSU I hope he plays 80% of the snaps. Put him and Hutch at ends move Paye inside with Kemp and use Ross McGrone and Hudson on passing downs.
November 7th, 2019 at 9:32 PM ^
Shouldn't he sit out if we can't win the Big Ten or go to the playoff? I mean its meaningless, right?
Yes I'm joking, but sadly, some fuck fiddles on here feel this way.
November 8th, 2019 at 12:18 AM ^
Does anyone think The Game is meaningless though? It's understandable to think a non-playoff bowl is meaningless, because it pretty much is.
The Game matters a lot more and even if Michigan won't make the playoff or win the B1G, there will still be stakes on the game. Michigan has a chance to potentially put OSU out of the playoff. So it does matter.
November 8th, 2019 at 6:28 AM ^
Depends where you draw the line. Every game is meaningful in my opinion.
November 8th, 2019 at 8:26 AM ^
I don't think he'll sit out against OSU but I wouldn't blame him for skipping the Outback Bowl - if that's our future.
November 7th, 2019 at 9:28 PM ^
Awwww, fiddlesticks. Happy for him though
November 7th, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
Watch the language there mister. Fiddlesticks surprisingly came up when I used the new swipe feature on the iPhone.
November 7th, 2019 at 9:32 PM ^
Good for him. Was hoping he would stick it out one more year (assuming the redshirt) and get himself to a higher round.
What’s he looking at now? Third or fourth?
November 7th, 2019 at 9:33 PM ^
He certainly deserves the honors. Great player, hopefully he'll kick some serious Buckeye butt in his final game.
November 7th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
What was he ranked out of high school?
November 7th, 2019 at 9:46 PM ^
Honors and Rankings
• Rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and the No. 50 recruit in the state of Florida
• Three-star prospect by Scout.com; listed as the No. 60 defensive end in the nation
• ESPN three-star prospect, the No. 44 outside linebacker nationally and the 130th-best prospect in Florida
November 7th, 2019 at 10:39 PM ^
I wish the offensive side of the team could turn this kind of a recruit into a guy with a legit shot at making it into the NFL.
November 7th, 2019 at 10:46 PM ^
Haskins, Bell...both two stars.
November 7th, 2019 at 10:54 PM ^
I guess you're from the future then. Both those guys have years to go before getting a shot at the NFL.
November 7th, 2019 at 11:38 PM ^
I think it’s more that a lot of us are getting really tired of the negativity.
November 7th, 2019 at 11:55 PM ^
They have a lot of growth they need to do to get there, sure. But they are currently on pace to get there eventually. Haskins is a redshirt freshman, and he's shown flashes. Bell is just a true sophomore, but he's outproducing three NFL talents at his position, and as someone that was just a basketball player three years ago, he's only scratching the surface of his potential.
November 8th, 2019 at 12:22 AM ^
Ronnie Bell has all the traits that Grant Perry needed to go from always being open in college to being relevant on Sunday’s. If he can get those route chops, he has more raw talent than Perry and could definitely find himself a roster spot at the next level
November 8th, 2019 at 12:21 AM ^
Haskins yes. Bell only has years because it's literally a requirement that he play at least another year. He'd get drafted if he were eligible this year. Probably 6th or 7th round. He's the best all-around receiver on a team full of 4 and 5 stars.
November 8th, 2019 at 6:13 AM ^
I don't know that I'd go so far as to say he's the "best all-around receiver". I mean, Nico Collins exists, and he's pretty good. But otherwise, yeah, he has earned his targets with fearless route running and a great ability to catch the ball wherever it arrives. Now if he can clean up the occasional drops we can rely on, then he could legitimately challenge Collins for that title.
November 7th, 2019 at 11:00 PM ^
Zach Gentry. He went from a lightly recruited QB to an NFL TE.
November 8th, 2019 at 6:59 AM ^
Lightly recruited QB? He was a 4* QB, committed to Texas, top 200 recruit.
Top offers: Michigan, Texas, Bama, Tennessee, TCU, Nebraska.
November 7th, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
selfishly wish he would come back but dude will be a monster in the nfl. hope steelers draft him to have him and bush together again
November 7th, 2019 at 9:59 PM ^
Not sure where the Steelers would put him if Dupree re-ups (he may be unaffordable now that he’s finally having a monster year). Watt on the other side and Uche is not remotely a 3-4 end.
If Dupree splits though, sure, worth a 3rd-4th rounder easily.
November 7th, 2019 at 9:53 PM ^
So we lose Uche, Hill, Glasgow, Metalus, and Kemp off the D with Paye probably being the only possible early entry. Is Dwumfour for sure coming back?
November 7th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
Kemp can possibly comeback.
November 7th, 2019 at 10:00 PM ^
We lose Hudson as well
November 7th, 2019 at 10:01 PM ^
Based on the d-line recruiting for 2020 and Sam Webb’s comments today on wtka I think they are expect most of the rest of the dline back on the interior.
November 7th, 2019 at 10:47 PM ^
Ambry could go early and we would be absolutely fucked if he did
November 7th, 2019 at 11:57 PM ^
Dwumfour is for sure coming back, unless between now and the end of the season Hinton and Smith blowup at DT, causing Dwumfour to grad transfer.
I've heard rumors Kemp might be back.
November 8th, 2019 at 5:12 AM ^
Long as Brown is back I'm good with it. He is MVP of this team every year.
November 7th, 2019 at 10:12 PM ^
Maybe this is a stupid question, but why couldn't he come back during his first year of grad school? Is that not literally what grad transfers do, if they have a year of eligibility? Per https://www.seniorbowl.com/the-game/frequently-asked-questions/:
Each year, the Senior Bowl rosters feature the nation's top senior collegiate football players and NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South. Only college seniors and fourth-year junior graduates are eligible for the game. Fourth-year junior graduates must have graduated by the December prior to the game to be eligible.
November 7th, 2019 at 11:04 PM ^
Presumably he is out of eligibility
November 7th, 2019 at 11:06 PM ^
I guess I don't understand how--if we didn't know/think this yesterday--we're concluding that from his accepting the invite?
November 7th, 2019 at 11:27 PM ^
It was already a question of if he had any eligibility left. Redshirts weren't so cut and dry when he was a freshmen and Harbaugh likes to burn them on garbage time and special teams (he does seem to be doing a better job of saving redshirts with the new rules though). This just to point to confirmation that he didn't have any eligibility left. Otherwise it seems odd to declare you are going pro when you still have three games left to play. I literally can not think of another player that declared pro with this much time left in the season outside of guys with injuries like Bosa.
November 7th, 2019 at 10:29 PM ^
Love Our SENIORS
November 7th, 2019 at 10:41 PM ^
Is this normal for the Senior Bowl to invite players this early into the season? I cannot ever recall invites happening before the regular season was over, but maybe I am mistaken.
November 7th, 2019 at 11:52 PM ^
They got a new Executive Director running Senior Bowl. Jim Nagy replaced Phil Savage. They're running SR Bowl differently than in the past in terms of invite. They're much more transparent than in the past.
November 7th, 2019 at 10:59 PM ^
He's a beast!!!
November 7th, 2019 at 11:03 PM ^
congrats to the kid...
will be sad to see him go, but happy for him to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL
November 7th, 2019 at 11:38 PM ^
would be nice if guys just played in post season bowls if eligible / invited
November 8th, 2019 at 1:19 AM ^
that’s what’s up! Congrats to Uche
November 8th, 2019 at 6:18 AM ^
Congrats to him, and good luck. He'll make a good pass rushing DE for some team. But it sure would be nice to have him back next year...
November 8th, 2019 at 7:50 AM ^
Happy for him, bummer for us. I hope Paye stays one more year.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:58 PM ^
DL depth is scary. Without Danna this year, it could have gotten really bad. DL cost the Wisconsin game for sure.
