One Frame At A Time: Rutgers
Hey, remember that five-star freshman safety? The one who almost went to Alabama? Where's he been since the fake punt?
Ah, there he is.
[Hit THE JUMP for the rest of the Rutgers game in GIFs.]
THE WHOLE ALBUM
10. Get Naked
There's something very aesthetically pleasing about a naked bootleg.
...what?
9. Quick on the Trigger
The BTN director saw where that was going juuuuuuust in time.
8. McGroan...
...is what Art Sitkowski was saying for most of this game, amirite.
7. YAC YAC YAC
Ronnie Bell might just be good.
6. Joe Milton to Giles Jackson
Regardless of opponent, that looked pretty nice.
Also, Mike Sainristil has serious ups.
5. More of This
Donovan Peoples-Jones making the ol' Willie Mays basket catch look easy.
4. Hutch on the Hunt
Sadly, this had a better chance than Rutgers's other fourth-down attempt. In other news, Rutgers is looking for a new head coach.
3. Push the Pile
Not Just A Scatback™.
2. Waxed by Dax
Thunk.
I'm always a sucker for interplay between players and the student section.
FRAMES OF THE GAME: THAT'S RIDICULOUS
This student, who wore something maize and fuzzy on his hat, a long-sleeve t-shirt made to look like a garish suit, and his dorm lanyard, would like you to know he thinks that flag was ridiculous. This is college football.

Of course, we react to the impact on both McGrone’s sack and Daxton Hill’s punt coverage. But the thing that’s so impressive on both plays is the textbook tackling form!

I’m just glad they didn’t flag Sainristil for targeting. He led with the crown on helmet-to-helmet contact.

The way the ref's like to flag us as opposed to other teams, I agree with you. The play early in the game where the safety stuck Turner, and immediately stood over him talking shit, but didn't get flagged, but DPJ got flagged for that when the guy had the PI on him against Wisconsin.

was thinking the same thing when Dax hit the punt returner.

On "Hutch on the hunt", the QB never saw Aiden. He was ducking his helmet to take on the Hawkins and then got dropped by Aiden from the side.
Awesome play.

Little Hutch had two of those huge 4th and short hits that turned the ball over on downs.
October 1st, 2019 at 9:32 AM ^
I would like to see Hutch wrap up on that hit. He played it great and put a serious hit on but Justin Fields may keep his feet on that.
October 1st, 2019 at 2:41 PM ^
Same. I bet he'll hear from his coaches on that. Take the man down to the ground.

Seeing that hit was kind of funny, because he went down like he hit a wall
October 1st, 2019 at 11:38 AM ^
He did.

There was a really good one of Ed Warinner at one point on the sidelines looking like he wanted to cry, was really hoping to see that one!

some really good ones this week. Kind a torn as to which I like best.

Just as Dax hit the returner, my feed cut out, had to reload. Dax hit him so hard he killed the Internet. True story.

Soooo many choices. I'd like to vote early and vote often.

Totally voted for Play #10 - Shea's naked bootleg. For the sole reason we need to do that play FAR more often (and not just in goal line situations).
October 1st, 2019 at 1:35 PM ^
Not to brag, but I called that play, and Milton's too. You can ask my dog, he was watching the game with me.
October 1st, 2019 at 9:10 AM ^
Quick on the trigger wouldn't be half as good without the look on DPJ's face. A+
October 1st, 2019 at 9:10 AM ^
Loved the Hutch play. Still a game at the time, and that pretty much told Rutgers, “no, you aren’t scoring any points today.”

Since the lead is about the freshman safety who “almost went to Alabama”, take a minute to read this article about the failures in traditional recruiting. Some lessons to be learned. Reminds me a bit about Big Ben’s story as he was overlooked and ended up at Miami University.

Both Ronnie Bell and Christian Turner run like beasts.
October 1st, 2019 at 9:37 AM ^
I hope Don Brown chewed out Hutchinson for his tackling form on that fourth down. I don't care if it worked against Artur Sitkowski. JK Dobbins is not just going to fall down like that.
October 1st, 2019 at 9:47 AM ^
I hear Schmidt from New Girl whilst watching that guy say ridiculous.
October 1st, 2019 at 9:53 AM ^
I gave my vote to “push the pile”. Love to see that effort out of our running backs.
October 1st, 2019 at 9:53 AM ^
I almost couldn't make it past that first gif of Dax. It is hypnotizing.
October 1st, 2019 at 10:10 AM ^
In the very last frame of 'thats ridiculous', on the far right what was HOFer Jimmy Clausen looking at?
October 1st, 2019 at 10:17 AM ^
I am curious to know what play immediately preceded Harbaugh's "WTF". Anyone know?
October 1st, 2019 at 1:10 PM ^
The big hits are great, but the downfield throws, especially the one to DPJ- I haven't seen Michigan throw those fades in who knows how long if ever. Back shoulder throws as well. Need more of this for real.
Go Blue!

The ginger in the top left of the "That's Ridiculous" GIF wants you to vote for Pedro.
October 1st, 2019 at 6:09 PM ^
I don’t know if he’ll ever be M’s starting QB, but that TD pass from Milton was approximately 55 yards on a clothesline.
October 1st, 2019 at 11:40 PM ^
After the Milton TD, my dad shook his head and said, "You just don't do that to an opposing coach."
I told him nobody needed that negativity, and to please enjoy his walk home to the other side of the state.
