We have all gone insane.
As we all know, yesterday's game was a clusterfuck of epic proportions on par with the worst losses we've ever seen as a program.
None of us are optimistic for the rest of the season or even next year. Some of us even think that Harbaugh should be fired.
I'm here to tell you that absolutely is not going to happen.
By all accounts he runs a clean program and has only lost 15 games thus far in his tenure. The stadium is still full and the AD is drowning in cash, so unless we have a losing record, followed by another one next year, I sincerely doubt Harbaugh will be fired.
Rich was fired because he was never competent in games against quality opponents. Hoke was fired because you could get into the stadium for the price of two cokes in 2014.
So if you really believe Harbaugh should be shown the door, give up your season tickets. Stop going to games. Stop buying merch. Because nothing is more important than money, and the AD is still making plenty.
Go Blue.

Theres ALWAYS ONE
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
Harbaugh's buyout would like $15M if they fire him after this season, so I think the likelihood of him getting canned is pretty low
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:06 PM ^
pretty sure thats chump change for this university
September 22nd, 2019 at 10:23 PM ^
Actually I bet it has a ton to do with them keeping them. It would cost another seven or eight million to get the next guy here there's no way they're pushing him especially considering the fact Harbaugh has got them back to their past levels.
I'd even argue he probably has one of the highest job security right now of any coach in college football. He's in with the right people at that university that trust him
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
Ross will cover that so Jeem can coach Tua.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
I wonder...was this board this bad after the first 2 games in 2007?
This is a mess...then again, this team is a hot mess right now so...
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:37 PM ^
The blog was in its relative infancy. People were pissed, there was just a lot less of them.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:21 PM ^
I mean 2007 basically was the start of the darkest 20 years in Michigan football. So what is your point?
This very well could be us running up to the edge of the chasm between becoming Tennessee, staying in this purgatory of meaningless 9 or 10 win seasons, or taking a risk on an up-and-coming coach who can lead us to the true glory.
September 22nd, 2019 at 9:56 PM ^
This place was apopleptic.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:37 PM ^
Continue to present a clown show when playing opponents with a pulse and the stadium will cease to be full. At this point Michigan football is boring to watch...whether winning or losing.
September 23rd, 2019 at 1:03 AM ^
We might stink right now, but I don't think anything about this is boring.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:39 PM ^
Look at the bright side: If Michigan continues to shit the bed, there will be a lot less of this horsepiss: "I'm flying to (London, Beijing, Tierra Del Fuego, Nunavit, Berlin, Mumbai, Mars) to land a huge multi billion dollar contract. Does anyone know where or how to stream the Michigan game?"
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:42 PM ^
I always love reading of those. Pure shit
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:39 PM ^
I live for truth at games. Same people...same great tailgate... same game results. Until tickets for Rutgers are 100 per it's a great day until you watch the horror game.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:43 PM ^
we have indeed gone insane and I personally believe the fanbase is probably the greatest liability of the program.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:48 PM ^
Games are won and lost in the message boards
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:45 PM ^
recruiting wars can be. . . witness the Dax Hill incident last year.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:43 PM ^
I don't think we've gone insane, we just now accept reality. Michigan under Harbaugh will be nothing but a "solid" team. It would have been different if they lost 27-24, but they got their shit pushed in by a team of 3 and 4 stars. Perennial 8-4 with the occasional 10-2 season. Probably go 50-50 with Staee and PSU. The dreams of multiple NC's is not going to happen. It's better than RR/Hoke, but the promise of greatness is just a fraud. I'm not calling for him to be fired, he's probably going to the Dolphins next year anyway to coach Tua. As far as the next coach, it doesn't matter until Michigan drops its institutional arrogance and realizes that college football has changed since Bo last coached. You need to be fundamentally sound, you need to coach and develop schemes, and you need to bust your ass on the field against every team. Any team can win on a given Saturday, you would have thought App St. taught Michigan that lesson. There will be posts on how 2016 Penn St turned it around but in Harbaugh's 4 seasons, the team didn't get better as the season progressed and hit a wall in November.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:02 PM ^
Maybe this year will be different where Harbaugh’s team doesn’t peak too early
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:44 PM ^
Rich was fired because he was never competent in games against quality opponents
So how is Jim different from Rich?
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:25 PM ^
Rich beat one ranked opponent in his entire tenure at Michigan. One. Literally one ranked opponent period. A single ranked team. Please don’t be this stupid.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:52 PM ^
How many has Jeem beaten, in his first 3 years? How many ranked opponents beat the unholy shit out of Jeems teams?
September 22nd, 2019 at 9:01 PM ^
well...having said that, this game could be for us what the 2016 game with PSU was for PSU...and yes, if we had played PSU again in 2016, we would have beaten them (albeit the game would be a lot closer)
September 22nd, 2019 at 11:58 PM ^
If there are people in this fan base who really think this way...my god. RR won 6 whole games in Big Ten play across 3 years. Six! In three fucking years! Harbaugh’s Michigan won 2 more than that just last year! Fuck’s sake people.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:48 PM ^
Hire Mire.
Heyer Meyer.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:51 PM ^
We were sane once?
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:52 PM ^
The AD was still making money when Hoke was sucking ass too. If this trend continues...he won't continue.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:53 PM ^
What is this “we” shit. To be honest, if the outcome of a game played between kids affects your mood or emotions then you need to take a long, hard look in the mirror. As a fan I’m bummed too, but come on! Hug your families and friends and focus on what really matters. And if it is the outcome of UM vs UW that really matters then I feel bad for you.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:09 PM ^
Ah yes, the old "results don't matter, it's just a game" for Michigan post.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:11 PM ^
I feel that way about all sports. Not just to justify Michigan Football’s poor performance(s). It just doesn’t matter.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:27 PM ^
Maybe a Michigan Sports blog may not be the right venue for you...
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:57 PM ^
Just treat this as year 1, you'll all feel better.
If you thought we were going to win in Madison after how we looked against Army, well... I'm sorry.
Most of us wanted an offense with a higher ceiling. We were stuck between 8 and 10 wins with the other one. The price is the new offense came with a lower floor, at least for now.
FWIW I have much more faith in Harbaugh to figure this out than I do in Warde (or anyone else) hiring someone better.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:11 PM ^
Treat this year as year one of whose tenure? Rich Rod's? Because I remember first years going all the way back to 1969 and that was the only first year in the last 50 years that was a losing season.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:39 PM ^
We changed the offense. Most fans were in favor of that, because this is not the same college football or Big Ten landscape of 1969, 1990, 1995, or even 2008. No more Big 2 Little 8, no more shared titles, no more Earle Bruce and John Cooper.
In most cases, significantly changing an offense means sloppy execution for at least half a season.
And if you actually think we're headed for a losing season, go ahead, bet your retirement on that. Then you'll win either way.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:57 PM ^
Point some might find interesting. As an adult, Harbaugh has never been anywhere, save as a student at UM, longer than four years. For Jim Harbaugh, we're in uncharted territory.
September 22nd, 2019 at 9:04 PM ^
He was in Chicago 1987-1993, seven seasons. But point taken. He has a reputation as a builder and inspirer, not a steady, long-time manager.
BTW Urban Meyer was never anywhere more than six seasons, until last year.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:57 PM ^
I have said this before and will stand by this statement. Harbaugh needs to be in the big ten championship game in year 5. That is still on the table and if we win out we can still make it there. Now the team we saw on saturday cant do that but hey maybe somehow we fix things.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:13 PM ^
Unless you're his supervisor, what you think he "needs" to do is completely irrelevant.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:59 PM ^
Harbaugh if a good CEO needs to step in and take charge. The team needs to make dramatic changes to salvage the season. Swift, dramatic. This has spun out of control. The old hands - Coach Ed and Jim - need to take over. The 35 year old Gattis is sinking in the big pool. We need to help him find his sea legs for maybe next season.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
Remember, CEO Harbaugh put gunners out on a punt when there was no return man. I think the punter had trouble with the snap.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:04 PM ^
Harbaugh hasn't ever looked competent in big games. The only reason people will continue to go is because they are old snobby alums who think Bo and all his disciples are gifts from God. You didn't even see Harbaugh get mad all game. Right before one of the breaks when we were getting our ass kicked he didn't even start telling, everyone around him looked unenthused.
For our anniversary my fiance wanted to buy tickets for the Rutgers game this week. I told her no way in hell am I going to that.
We pay top dollar for a coach whose teams end the year at the bottom of the top 25. No, we haven't actually ended up at the bottom of the top 25 but that's just because of our brand. At the end of the year the last few years I don't know how many of the top 25 teams we would actually beat.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:17 PM ^
We routed Penn State twice, Wisconsin once, we beat MSU twice. All of those were seen as big games at the time.
Some clowns just redefine 'big games' whichever way they need to make Michigan and Harbaugh look as bad as they feel at the time. And that's really just what all of this is, a bunch of sad sacks feeling bad for themselves and throwing a tantrum. The thread title is accurate except, it's not all of us, just 90%.
September 22nd, 2019 at 9:05 PM ^
"For our anniversary my fiance..."
No need to reply to this, but just know I'm struggling to figure out how these words go together.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:04 PM ^
What's this WE and ALL fucking bullshit. If you think Harbs should be fired or will be fired you are obviously a clueless fuck. There are probably some M fans out there that feel this way but I would say that percentage of fans is extremely low.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
Oh no! The tide turned yesterday....no excuse for being down 0-35 to any one. The “Harbaugh is going to lead us back to prominence” crowd has faded!
September 22nd, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
It was about 50/50 in the thread I started. Take out Harbaugh family members posting as an alias and its not looking good for the 9 million dollar man
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:05 PM ^
Are we still in the nightmarish hellscape alternate reality we entered in November 2016? [Checks headlines] Yup.
September 22nd, 2019 at 9:17 PM ^
No politics!
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
And that is the problem, why do we have to have back to back awful seasons to get him fired. We have looked awful in our last 3 games against P5 teams. Struggled at times in our first 2 games this season. Looks like he has lost the squad. If he doesn’t turn this around he should be told thanks but no thanks at seasons end.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
Gave up my tickets after the 2017 season. Could already see how this would end.
