OT: Golden age hip hop videos and Michigan apparel
I've been meaning to post this for a while. Hopefully I snuck it in under the OT cut off.
As a result of the fab five's cultural influence, there were a few hip hop music videos in the 90s featuring artists/entourage rocking M apparel. Here are some I've found. If you have any more, please post in the comments. I'm sure I'm missing many

I remember the Outhere brothers main song had a video with a guy wearing a jimmy king jersey

Oh man Skee Lo. Been a while since I heard that one.

MC Breed (and the DFC) had some Michigan stuff in one of their vidoes. I'll see if I can find it.

Ain't no future in yo frontin'
EDIT: that video does not have M gear ... it's just a badass Breed song

Maybe it was "I gotta get mine", but I see nothing on there. I swear there was something in one of their videos.

Mc breed was so dope. Rip. Loved the new breed album in 93. Warren g produced some bangers on that. Hip hop was so much better back then

Jamie Fox at 2:11 in Coolios 1,2,3,4. Blast from the past! These are true tailgate songs. 8 days away!

Saw that and I did not remember that AT ALL from that video! I did always wonder why he was riding AWAY from the girl in the bikini, though...

Did you gain permission from WD to post this content?

WD wasn't born when any of this stuff came out.

R. Kelly (YTRK) wore a grey Michigan champion crewneck sweatshirt in the music video for Nas’ Street Dreams (remix)
August 23rd, 2019 at 3:57 PM ^
Wait, is there a NTRK? Please tell me people are getting R. Kelly confused with Red Kelly (RIP).

Excuse me while I vomit.

These are ill.

Uggghhhhh MC Serch....what a total douche. His talk show was so unique, though, check it out.
August 23rd, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
I read it as McSerch, as in a sandwich you'd order from McDonald's. Shows how white and out of touch I am.
Anyone from Slayer wear M gear?
August 23rd, 2019 at 3:00 PM ^
People just throw out the term douche because they don't like someone...Serch was an MC with 3rd Bass (of Pop Goes the Weasel fame) who a lot of people liked. He helped bring Nas to the mainstream and produced his first album (Illmatic). He also hosted a radio show in Detroit for a while so not sure where the hate comes from.

He definitely gets the Gas face for that.
Side note: MF Doom was part of his crew also.

I really enjoyed Pete and Serch back in the olden days. Never thought he came across as a "douche". Guess he's just a product of the environment.
Both The Cactus and Der. of Dia. were great tapes! Yep, my first copies of both were on cassette.

Not golden age but saw a pitbull video a long time ago and he was rocking the glen rice Miami heat jersey.
Mc breed multiple videos rocking wolverine gear

He's rocking a Duncan Robinson jersey in his newest viseo.

Not Fab 5 related, but my favorite hip hop song and video of all-time...
August 23rd, 2019 at 5:05 PM ^
Drop is my favorite video by them. Not only did they shoot the video in reverse, but they actually hired a linguistics coach so they could rap their verses in reverse. Both songs produced by the late great and Detroit's own J Dilla.

This topic reminds me of the tupac with a red wings jersey pic. A classic of him spitting on a camera/camera man.

Naughty by Nature has a Webber skit featuring Chris Webber on their Poverty’s Paradise album (generally underrated IMO).
