Well, I upvoted you. Fun, fun board post.
I'll give you an OT picture of the two newest Wolverines making millions in the league. Sorry the pic quality leaves a little to be desired, and yes they drove the cart down the tunnel while all their fellow camp leaders walked...just because.

I bet the ncaa views the driving of golf carts an impermissible benefit.
Keith Jackson died.
Are you serious? When?

Canned gravy?
April 26th, 2019 at 10:45 AM ^
Real question is chicken gravy, beef gravy, pork gravy, pheasant gravy, or camel gravy!?
April 26th, 2019 at 10:28 AM ^
That's not OT. It is daily news here.

Pssh, right. Next you’ll tell me barry sanders will retire still in his prime
Great hands, and a terrific downfield blocker.

Well then, he'll surely be a Lion by midnight, even if he is 76.
The Lions picking Hockensen wasn't actually a bad pick at all...There, I said it.
Agreed. 90% of this group would complain no matter which combatant was selected.
Horrible selection.
Tight ends are a luxury in the NFL, and are rarely, if ever taken in the top 10. The Lions have already burned three first round picks in the last decade on tight ends.
So many more needs on this team. Could have easily traded down, got a great defensive player and potentially another 2nd round pick or moved up.
This is it for Stafford. If he can't win now with this new shiny toy, he never will.
If he isn't the second coming of Gronk in his first fucking year, I'm done with them. I just can't take any more. So many needs on D, and they take a TE. Again.
All of which can be addressed in later rounds. Let’s give Quinn the chance to shore up the defense in later rounds. The offense sucked last year! The d-line is already pretty good. Secondary is pretty good. Hitting on those later draft picks is what separates playoff teams from non-playoff teams.

That goes without saying. But, this team was looking at some fantastic defensive talent staring them in the face. And, they just spent a bunch of money on a pretty decent TE in the off-season.
I just think this franchise has to do the whole "we are the smartest guys in the room" routine, and it has never, ever worked with them. Now, they are trying to become the Patriots; problem is, the Lions don't have Tom Brady or BB.
April 26th, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
How about no, Scott? Okay?
Hockensen may prove to be a good TE, but he needs to be equivalent to Gronk to justify being taken that high. TEs are a luxury in the NFL. They really don't need to be more than serviceable for you to win games. Case in point: the New Orleans Saints and the LA Rams. One team should've gone to the Super Bowl. One did. Neither has great TE play. Most people probably can't even name who their TEs are. I couldn't before a few minutes ago.
When you have a top-10 pick, you need to take someone who is the difference between winning and losing football games. TEs, on the whole, do not fall into that category unless you are Rob Gronkowski. He's the exception, not the rule, and even he wasn't taken in the first.
The Lions could've gotten so much more value from that pick if they'd gone somewhere else with it. The value they would've lost by taking a TE in the second round instead would be completely offset by the value gained in taking someone like Devin Bush, Josh Allen, or trading down for more picks.

We can agree to disagree. I don't think Hockenson has to be the next Gronk to justify the pick. Anymore than Kyler Murray has to be the next John Elway or Matthew Stafford to justify his selection. Not everyone taken in the Top 10 is a HOFer, so I think you are a little off base with that statement. Quite honestly, it's hard to say that Devin Bush or Josh Allen are going to be the difference between winning and losing games for their respective teams. I would imagine they both start their rookie year, but I don't follow the NFL super closely to know that for certain. Hockenson doesn't have to be better than Devin Bush or Josh Allen, he just has to be better for the Lions. Anybody that says the kid has to be a HOF tight end to be drafted Top 10, is engaging in some hyperbole. Feel how you want about the pick, I won't take that from you. Making statements such as that are just a bit much in my opinion.
I know it’s Off Topic but Over Time I’ve come to think Offensive Tackles Ought To consider Occupational Therapy as a second career, but maybe I’m just an Old-Timer who loves Open-Top convertibles, playing Oregon Trail, and reading Oliver Twist while I sip my OvalTine.

I keep being told to read the New Testament but I haven't read the Old Testament yet and I don't want to spoil it.

This post is art. The title, the content, the username, it's just too beautiful. Leave it up for all of posterity to view and appreciate.
agreed.
Are you taking a stand that nothing is OT? Is this what infinity looks like?
Sadly, this is one of the best board posts in a while. Well done, Granddaddy!!
So what are your thoughts regarding D. Bush’s “suit” from last night? Worst ever? Awesome?
Either way, he’s going to be great in Pittsburgh. I hate the Steelers but love that he went to a great organization who will use him the right way.
He looked like Michael Jackson dressed as Deion Sanders dressed as David Bowie dressed as a Storm Trooper.
with a hint of Gladiator.
Freddy Jackson now doing the fashion commentary!
I'm pretty firmly in the "worst ever" portion of the spectrum. I have no idea how that's considered fashion.

I felt like there was a little MC Hammer mixed in there somewhere? As well as all of the above mentioned.

64 days until my first bodybuilding show in Dubuque Iowa. Contest prep is fun.
Wouldn't it be better to start on a smaller stage instead of jumping right into the big-time at Dubuque?
small novice show, not sure if sarcasm or not. Great beginner show
