OT: Michigan baseball is great and everything but.......
If you're a fan of college baseball and you live in the central Ohio area, you should check out the Denison baseball team. Unranked at the beginning of the season, they're now #8 in D3 with a record of 26-2, 10-0 in conference play. The team is fun as hell to watch -- great pitching (I think they have the third lowest ERA in D3) and big hitters. Here's their schedule. If you can catch a game, by all means, do. The upcoming double header against #11 Wooster on the 27th should be a barn burner.

The Director of Marketing at my company went to Denison. He’s not a sports guy unless you consider sailing a sport, but I’ll let him know anyways.
April 18th, 2019 at 12:40 PM ^
How much did his parents pay for him to "sail" at Denison?
LOL. Is his last name Laughlin, Huffman, or Macy?

Lost 2. Not having it.

To hell with Denison.

Lol. We play you guys on Saturday.
Congrats Wendy, it sounds like things are working out for your son.
He's doing well, thanks!
To hell with Denison.

...OWU, I've got no problem with you.

For now... ;)
April 18th, 2019 at 12:41 PM ^
At least there haven't been any Wittenberg alums popping up on this thread...
April 17th, 2019 at 11:31 PM ^
Are...are these real teams?
April 17th, 2019 at 11:39 PM ^
I wouldn't have believed it, either, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.
Is this the lady that posted questions about baseball camps and their legitimacy, and her son being a pitcher about 3 years ago?
yes, it is. and isn't it cool that her son is on a team having a great year and he's part of it? these are the seasons that shape young mens' lives and it must be a thrill for him (and mr. and mrs k5) to experience it. very happy for you wendy.
coincidentally, a prosecutor i was dealing with on a case that concluded this week is a denison grad and a very cool guy. also, one of my favorite colleagues, who is a wild man in all good ways, played football at denison back in the day.
go big red, go k5.
Thanks for your kind words, X. It's gratifying to see your kid accomplish something after years of hard work and his fair share of struggles.

This may go down as the most random thread to not get slammed on here.

No doubt...
"If you're a fan of college baseball and you live in the central Ohio area"
And, by "college baseball", I mean, D3-level baseball. And, by "central Ohio", I still mean "Ohio".
... I'll just move along, this post isn't for me.

I just don't understand
April 18th, 2019 at 12:55 AM ^
It's a team near and dear to my heart and I'm just trying to drum up some fandom among those who live in Ohio and who like college baseball. It's a fun team to watch.
If someone can't understand a really clear posting like yours I would cut bait on them just sayin'!
And you live in Ohio? sorry to hear that! :)
I thought she lived in San Diego for some reason...
I live in Evanston. Traveling to that part of Ohio, near Columbus, is not fun but Denison is beautiful, even if it's colors are red and red.
I heard Denison's coach speak at the OHSBCA clinic in January and he was phenomenal. It is no surprise that they are having such success after hearing how he runs his program and the values they promote. Good luck on the rest of the season!
He is fantastic. We had no idea what kind of guy he was because we didn't talk to him at all before my son committed. I consider my son very fortunate to have landed there.
Random interesting factoid:
The most famous coach in Denison sports history is Woody Hayes.
Well, that would appear to be a strike against them, but I can’t root against Wendy’s kid. Hopefully, Denison fired the old lunatic.
April 18th, 2019 at 11:13 AM ^
Woody got let go because he hit a kid from Ohio Wesleyan during a game in 1948 and ended up at Miami of Ohio.
April 18th, 2019 at 11:47 AM ^
At first I thought this was hilarious, and then I thought, gee what if it's true?
He ran out of gas on a recruiting trip once because he absolutely refused to stop and fill up in Wesleyan.
And there are times when you really suck, so everything evens out! Balance in the universe...
Dude, you need to relax and enjoy the humor in the thread, even if you have zero interest in the topic.
This should be easy to get back on the rails in Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon Format.
Denison Baseball
- Rhymes with Jenison
- Jenison is a field house in East Lansing, Michigan.
- Jenison Field House is where Michigan Wrestling destroyed MSU in January by a score of 30-10.
There. Now it's about Michigan and on topic. The Woody Hayes reference or drjaws Director of Marketing that were noted probably would have been better ways to get there, though. I just wanted to fit in.

Cool user name brah
but why is he "uferfan" and you the "1" even though you're like six years older on here
Denison's own list of notable alums:
April 18th, 2019 at 10:52 AM ^
Hal Holbrook is on that list. Great actor. My personal favorite role of his was Lt. Briggs in Magnum Force. He blowed up real good.
April 18th, 2019 at 12:24 PM ^
All The President's Men, Deep Throat. Small role, big impact.
He used to do a one man show depicting Mark Twain that was sensational.
I like baseball, but it's really a social sport when attending games. Lots of time to speak with seat neighbors, drink beer, eat hot dogs, etc. But for me, the games don't really get interesting until late Sept, when the playoffs come calling...
That said, I hope Denison's season continues going as well as it has - and good luck this weekend!
Let the off season begin!!!
now you've done it. someone will put up a _______ days until football season thread in 3 -2- 1...
stay tuned...
Those "There are ..." threads are one of my least favorite types of board posts. They were clever at first. Now they're tedious.
I love counting down the end of summer in May, before it even begins.
DENISON SUCKS, go Hiram College Terriers.
Why isn't that dog wearing pants?
I'm glad my username can now make sense! Proud Wooster alum 2012...GO SCOTS
April 18th, 2019 at 11:08 AM ^
#11 Wooster will have their shot at Denison in a double-header at home next Saturday. Go Scots!
