To err is human - Dabo-style (PEDs)

"Mistakenly"
February 9th, 2019 at 6:24 PM ^
Clemson's players excuse.
February 10th, 2019 at 7:27 AM ^
He means they mistakenly got caught . Someone in this process must not have got their payout ...
February 9th, 2019 at 5:29 PM ^
Mistakenly. That’s actually hilarious. Dirty Dabo is crooked as they come.
February 9th, 2019 at 5:31 PM ^
They mistakenly provided ostarine, a substance that isn't approved for human consumption in any country?
February 9th, 2019 at 11:06 PM ^
They thought it was ostrich urine. You can see where the confusion lies.
February 9th, 2019 at 5:33 PM ^
A mistake was made, alright. They messed up the masking regimen.
I’m open to the possibility that the coaching staff isn’t actually involved in it (pretty easy for there to be an ad-hoc system in which players hear about which doctors to visit to get good “nutritional programs” on a pro bono basis because boosters happen to be taking those doctors out to $10,000 lunches at Taco Bell) but there’s no way there isn’t a systematic doping program at Clemson and probably a lot of other schools as well.
And there’s no way that Dabo is shocked by it. Not fully aware, perhaps, but not shocked.
February 9th, 2019 at 5:34 PM ^
It's pretty bad when you're failing a drug test in a North American sport (pro or college). None of them use modern testing standards. For three Clemson guys to test positive means that it was probably close to team-wide.
February 9th, 2019 at 5:40 PM ^
LOLOLOLOL at Dabo the Comedian!
I highly doubt the National Title will be taken away, nor will there be anything else done other than a slap on the wrist and a stern warning to Dabo and Clemson that next time no watching TV for a week.
After all, no illegal stretching took place, did it??!
February 9th, 2019 at 6:55 PM ^
"I highly doubt the National Title will be taken away, nor will there be anything else done other than a slap on the wrist"
Maybe so, but Southwest Montana State Teacher's College is going to get hammered by the NCAA for providing an unauthorized Happy Meal to a recruit.
February 9th, 2019 at 8:41 PM ^
Exactly. SW Montana can't fight back. NCAA acts like they care, but they won't punish their cash cows.
February 9th, 2019 at 9:40 PM ^
Cleveland State likely to also get hammered, per Bobby Knight.
February 10th, 2019 at 2:44 AM ^
They're from Cleveland, so they deserve it.
February 9th, 2019 at 5:41 PM ^
By the power of God and the strength of Jesus, Dabo will get through this.
February 9th, 2019 at 5:54 PM ^
The only mistake is that some players tested negative. Gotta take the vitamins the coaches give you, that's why you're not on the 2 deep!!!
February 9th, 2019 at 6:00 PM ^
“We accidentally doped our players” is a surprising defense.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:04 PM ^
"It could come from anything. They’re going to test everything and look at everything. And that’s the problem ". That's just an amazing statement and a bunch of bs.
February 9th, 2019 at 8:41 PM ^
Didn't you read what Dabo said??? What are you, some kind of knucklehead? It could have been a contaminant at the factory. And he explained, very clearly, that that kind of stuff happens all the time. They have a stray contaminant of an illegal substance flying around the factory, and it just happens to find its way into a product intended for human consumption.
It happens all the time, or so Dabo said. Better be careful tomorrow morning when you eat your Cheerios.

East Germany. India. Russia. Clemson.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:06 PM ^
in the morning,
when i woke up,
i was all swoll!!
i have no idea how that could possibly have happened...
February 9th, 2019 at 6:17 PM ^
This is why I cringe every time a team parades its "Christian" atmosphere and players like they're the team representing Jesus to all of college football.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:42 PM ^
The last two thousand years are full of people who have masqueraded themselves as pious Christians to impress the masses and advance their own agendas. Why should it stop with college football?
While this is by no means an indictment against all Christians, as I do know some good followers who are better human beings than I, it’s oftentimes that the ones who most tout their own piousness and “holier than thou” attitude who are the ones who are the biggest scumbags and hypocrites of all.
Religion can simultaneously bring out the best and worst in all human beings.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:57 PM ^
Dabos a turd but I kind of dispute that this is a religious thing.
People who want to appear clean and influence the masses often pretend to care about the meaning of life or things they know others care about (see Meyer, Urban). So maybe the people most vocal about it are more likely fake. I'd buy that.
February 10th, 2019 at 8:17 AM ^
Amen brother
February 10th, 2019 at 10:14 AM ^
The last two thousand years are full of people who have masqueraded themselves as pious [fill in the blank on any religion, philosophy, or activist cause] to impress the masses and advance their own agendas.
Fixed it.

2 Corinthians 13:10 And Jesus spake unto the gathered multitudes "Thou shalt kill an oxen and fashion an oblate spheroid from its hide, fillest with thine breath, congregate in yon open field and cheer thy own brothers as they carry thine holy ball across the sacred line. Thou shalt cheer and drink thine wine in celebration after victory, but curse thine team in defeat. Blessed is thine team that drinketh of the forbidden elixir, for they shall grow as giants with bulging sinew, while Caesar looketh in another direction. Thine enemy from the southern heathen lands shalt relieve their bowels in open wine baskets, and darkness shall be on them forever."
February 9th, 2019 at 7:39 PM ^
That was my confirmation verse
February 9th, 2019 at 10:57 PM ^
2 Hesitations 3:1-4
and the prophet came down to the land of carolina. and with him he brought various potions, mixes, pills, powders, liquids and even needles. and he went to the village of clemson and said 'take, injest, eat and be swoll like a man-bull.' and the tigers saw that it might be good and that they might be able to then slay the mighty bama pachyderm, and they injested and injected all that the prophet gave them, and they got swoll, way swoll. and the battle lines were drawn in levi's valley and the armies squared off. and the swoll tigers defeated the pachyderms and the village of clemson saw that it was good and that king NCAA was neutered and would extract no revenge.
February 10th, 2019 at 12:53 AM ^
+1 for your use of "thou", "fillest", "shalt", "looketh" and "thine". It takes me back to my youth.
February 10th, 2019 at 10:17 AM ^
Holy shit, I had to check to see if that's not real.
It not, right?
February 10th, 2019 at 2:01 PM ^
It's from the somewhat lesser-known King James Joseph version, based on a Dead Sea scroll that was discovered in an attic in Unadilla.
February 10th, 2019 at 7:36 AM ^
We will all be judged in the end, those who are masquerading around as Christians will get what they deserve.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:31 PM ^
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!
Does anyone doubt that Clemson is the dirtiest program in football right now? I mean, Mississippi tried, but they imploded under their own incompetence.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:49 PM ^
I doubt Clemson is any dirtier than any other dirty program.
February 10th, 2019 at 12:21 PM ^
I doubt JPC is any trollier than other trolls - By some standards, he is quite the polite troll. Well, by now i'm sure you are off to your other account. Have fun!
February 9th, 2019 at 6:58 PM ^
Alabama had just as many people test positive. And ND+ oklahoma had none.
February 9th, 2019 at 7:10 PM ^
They are definitely dirty, but don't think that their opponents weren't also using PEDs.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:37 PM ^
Haa!! Nothing will come of this, nothing at all. The outright buying of players has been proven in both football and basketball, and Emmert says 'this is fine'. A racial slur is thrown at a player, and its cause for immediate transfer outside of every rule about transfers in the history of ever. Fake classes, so totally fake that they don't literally exist, is no cause for punishment.
Why? Because the schools involved stood up to the NCAA and said 'we are fine and there's nothing you can do'.
Michigan stretched for a few minutes. Know why we got hit hard? We went running scared to the NCAA and groveled until we were blue in the face begging for mercy.
The NCAA is a travesty of bullshit... They won't even look at Clemson because Dabo is a fun, engaging personality. I've got money that Harbaugh gets pilloried from the press and NCAA if he ever "mistakenly" dopes up his team.
(/steps down from soap box)
February 9th, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
If we learned anything from Lance Armstrong or Major League Baseball it is that the governing bodies are complicit in allowing the cash cows get away with doping. Do we really think only 3 Clemson players tested positive? More like the NCAA chose three representatives to take the fall.
Over 300 MLB players failed PED testing but the players union got the tests and punishments buried. You don’t punish the money makers. It’s all a farce.
February 9th, 2019 at 10:38 PM ^
no need to step down. you are spot on. the lesson learned is to deny, delay and obstruct any ncaa investigation. michigan failed to play that game in both basketball and football, and they paid for it.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:39 PM ^
How can supplements unknowningly get contaminated...yeah. When your a big time NCAA program, you don't find a random guy on the street to get the goods. There are lots of researchers at the university and can find reputable sources. Unless they injected the cows, pigs, and other animals to feed to the players for dinner.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:42 PM ^
"Well hell ya know we test for that stuff and sometimes just about anything can happen and who's to say if a sample got contaminated basically anywhere and I really only been over there to talk to them once or twice praise Jesus."
February 9th, 2019 at 6:55 PM ^
"...and Lord, we ask you to bless these quadriceps, to make them like tree trunks so that we may grind the opposition to dust in Your name."
February 9th, 2019 at 6:43 PM ^
And 2 national championships in 3 years... even worse and more suspicious.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:48 PM ^
Dabo is Hugh Freeze 2.0. What an assclown.
I know this isn't fair, but I feel the more holier-than-thou a guy is, the more he's covering up.
February 9th, 2019 at 6:52 PM ^
Slightly off topic - but do you remember a time when it was commonly put forth that steroids and PEDs didn't actually help? I do - and the notion was that schoolkids shouldn't be tempted to use them because their effects are marginal - and the counter theory was that for some sports even a marginal edge (1%) it is the difference between a gold medal and not appearing on the podium.
At this point, it seems that the notion is clearly dead and PEDs do help - it may not help with skill but may make recovery faster especially with longer and longer seasons in nearly major sports.
February 9th, 2019 at 7:56 PM ^
I don’t remember a time when the effects of steroids were considered marginal. The first time I became aware of them was when Tony Mandarich became the poster boy for steroids before and after.
February 9th, 2019 at 9:04 PM ^
Baseball tried downplaying the benefits of steroids when it all blew up in their faces.
February 10th, 2019 at 8:41 AM ^
Yes, baseball maintained first that it might have helped borderline major leaguers stay out of the minors but it didn’t help any all-star players. And everyone agreed it was totally worthless for pitchers. Football never had any such silly pretense that I recall.
