OT: Rich Hill with a total gem in the World Series
I don't know how many people are watching, but former Wolverine (and Boston native) Rich Hill just gave a performance for the ages.
6 1/3 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 7 K against the most-dangerous lineup in the game. What an outing. This is turning into a great series.

I'll be angry if the Dodgers 'pen gives Hill a no-decision after this great performance. I believe he'd become the first Wolverines pitcher with a postseason win since Scott Kamieniecki in the '97 ALCS (with Baltimore, against Cleveland, game 5), and I'm still trying to figure out the last Michigan pitcher (if any) with a World Series win

Looks like Steve Howe with the Dodgers over the Yanks in 1981 game 4. He also earned the save in the deciding game 6 victory. GO BLUE!
October 28th, 2018 at 4:02 AM ^
I did not know Steve Howe went to Michigan.

Things sure can change fast
October 27th, 2018 at 10:51 PM ^
Hey, he was still great. Madson's hot garbage.
October 27th, 2018 at 10:59 PM ^
Madson has inherited 7 runners in the WS and all 7 have scored........

And yet Roberts keeps going to the well...
I wouldn't be surprised to see Roberts canned after they lose the Series.

Hill pitched a great game tonight.

Always my beef with the modern game. If your guy is in the zone keep him in.
Players make plays not algos
October 28th, 2018 at 1:33 AM ^
If that were true, the numbers would show it.
October 27th, 2018 at 11:00 PM ^
Jinxed it. Tie game.
October 27th, 2018 at 11:01 PM ^
Welp, so much for that. Go to Hell, LA's bullpen
October 27th, 2018 at 11:18 PM ^
BostonWolverine are you rooting for the Sox though?
October 27th, 2018 at 11:22 PM ^
I am.
October 27th, 2018 at 11:22 PM ^
Nope. Grew up a Yankees fan (in Cincinnati, OH); my great grandpa owned a dairy business in the Bronx back in the day. Raised a whole family of us.
October 27th, 2018 at 11:20 PM ^
I honestly didn’t realize that Rich Hill was a UM guy. Given that (as a Red Sox fan) I’m glad that he turned in a good performance and that it was the bullpen that let the Sox back in it. That being said, Go Sox!
October 27th, 2018 at 11:22 PM ^
You misspelled Dick Mountain.
October 27th, 2018 at 11:33 PM ^
Boston just needs one in LA. LA can’t play in the cold. SEC.
October 27th, 2018 at 11:35 PM ^
I stayed up last night watching till 4a.m. I'm trying my best to keep my eyes open for this one.
October 27th, 2018 at 11:40 PM ^
Agreed. It’s nice to see the bats finally wake up though.
October 27th, 2018 at 11:49 PM ^
And woke up they have!
October 27th, 2018 at 11:41 PM ^
Fuuuuuuuuck
October 27th, 2018 at 11:56 PM ^
This is getting crazy
October 28th, 2018 at 12:04 AM ^
Kimbrel is like the polar opposite of what Mariano Rivera was in the postseason.
October 27th, 2018 at 11:57 PM ^
If the Tigers are sold to Gilbert or whoever, the first thing they should do is make an offer Dombrowski can't refuse.
October 28th, 2018 at 12:05 AM ^
Yep. Never should have let him go.
October 28th, 2018 at 12:21 AM ^
Who knew putting Al Avila in charge was a bad idea...
October 28th, 2018 at 9:15 AM ^
Or maybe how ad of an owner Chris Illich is.
October 28th, 2018 at 6:43 AM ^
Bring back the same guy that couldn't get the job done with an open checkbook and who let's the minor league systems rot???
Illitch gave him every possible resource to try and buy a championship and Dombrowski failed.
I'll pass on DD thanks.
Dombrowski inherited a wealth of talent in Boston. And the White Sox called him asking if he wanted Sale. Incidentally, Sale did nothing in the playoffs.
And whether or not Avila knows his head from his ass, he's got no budget to work with.

Dodgers lost. Down 3-1.
October 28th, 2018 at 12:14 AM ^
Boom. Best offense in baseball. Goodbye LA
October 28th, 2018 at 12:23 AM ^
Boston couldn't touch Hill's curve ball all night long. Idiotic to take him out there and turn it over to a tired bullpen. Yet another case of overmanaging a game.

Performance for the ages may be a bit strong.
October 28th, 2018 at 11:37 AM ^
Wonder whether BostonWolverine ever knew about either Don Larsen's performance for the Yankees against the Dodgers in game five of the World Series on October 8, 1956 or Roy Halladay's performance for the Phillies against the Reds in the first game of the National League Division Series on October 6, 2010 -- and some other perfect games in MLB history.

Roberts’ rationale for pulling Hill doesn’t fly. Leaders inspire subordinates; they don’t look for hair trigger reasons to make sea changes, especially when the alternatives are suspect. Great game, Hill. RIP, Dodgers.
October 28th, 2018 at 7:35 AM ^
Too bad Dave Roberts is their manager. He’s horrible.
October 28th, 2018 at 10:12 AM ^
Pulling Hill was a total mistake!
October 28th, 2018 at 7:14 PM ^
Had only thrown 91 pitches; horrible decision to take him out. Waaaay over managing. You needed that game; you leave the guy who is pitching a gem in.
October 29th, 2018 at 1:15 AM ^
Rich Hill for President!
