Nebraska is smoking Ohio State
With a minute and a half to go in the first half, Nebraska is up 34-21. Man are they offensively challenged. It's on BTN if you'd like to enjoy

You have to think that a loss here pretty much eliminates OSU from big ten title contention

These threads almost always end badly. Instead of saying anything about Ohio being in trouble, you should say Ohio Nebraska open thread or something.

OSU will still win this game.

This anti-jinx works, and people downvote it. That's just rude.

But that tight road win at Nebraska looks a little better now. Nebraska is going to give some teams a scare this year. They are not terrible anymore. Even though they are winless in the B1G so far, I think Nebraska looks to be in the same class with Purdue, Illinois, and maybe even Indiana.

I'd wager Ohio wins this game. If they do not...Umm, they're in serious trouble; not they're not in a bit of trouble anyway as they've ben exploited a bit. Serious trouble = they aren't a NCAA tournament team. Drastic? Maybe, but their struggles on offense are in danger of making them an average team and plenty of average teams are not Dancing in March.
*Edit: I know this team is 99% going to make the tournament. I guess I'm saying that if they can't beat Nebraska (again), albeit a better Nebraska than we've ever seen, then the road ahead for them may look very grim. Their OOC schedule was pretty weak, beating a not very good Marquette and Maryland. That's it; and now it's Big Ten time, it's only going to get harder.

Seems to me even with a loss tonight, which is not a foregone conclusion by any stretch of the imagination, 10/11 wins still quite possible, if not likely. They are not a top ten team, to be sure, but neither do they look like a .500 B10 team.
January 20th, 2014 at 8:03 PM ^
Ohio not as good as people think. They might come back, but those two things are true. I think Ohio not quite in the top flight of the B10. In fact, if you think that MSU/Iowa are that group now, with us and Wiscy next, Ohio might be in the third tier.

I hope they crash and burn this year because the incoming recruiting class is back to typical Matta standards. Now MSU on the other hand is probably in a bit of a fix next year.

Even though jinxes don't exist, I fully expect Ohio State to get back in this game.
It will be hilarious to watch everyone blame this on OP.
January 20th, 2014 at 8:26 PM ^
I really don't believe in jinxes, but I still think these types of threads are dumb. The OP just looks stupid if the other team comes back. Nothing annoys me more than fans laughing at a team before the game is over.

osu can't score in the paint and their tough D is getting killed in the paint. I expect to see quite a bit of 1-3-1 when we play them. I think Braska will hold on and get a big W.

2 point lead is all now?
This is a pretty close game for a blowout.

Enough time for the Buckeyes although I really wish they lose any and all games.

Two point game now.
Way to go, OP!
January 20th, 2014 at 8:16 PM ^
MSU and Iowa haven't done anything in the big ten that we haven't done. Until we get knocked off, we're in the top tier of the big ten.

Ohio is getting away with all types of contact.
January 20th, 2014 at 8:20 PM ^
That was about the worst fastbreak sequence ever.
January 20th, 2014 at 8:21 PM ^
The one thing that sort of stands out so far is Nebraska's 56.89% effective FG percentage, which sort of dwarfs 42.19% from Ohio State on the same metric. If Nebraska would try to mitigate the opportunities that the Buckeyes are getting at the charity stripe, it might not be quit as close right now. I would quote rebounding stats, but so far, no one here seems to believe much in second chance shots.

Nebraska has scored 9 points in the first ten minutes of this half. Just terrible.
