OT: Georgia Dome camera policy
Im heading to Atlanta Sunday for the Game Monday night. Can I get some feedback from those who were there tonight on the camera policy? Were there many fans there with DSLRs? Did anyone take in a DSLR and if so did you hide it or keep it out in the open?
The written policy states no removeable lens allowed. However I know this is rarely enforced. The Sweet 16 at the Palace, the security did not say anything and let me pass. I have not been to a NCAA Finals game before so I wonder if they are more strict.
I will see you all in Atlanta. Go Blue.
he obviously is going to the gaem, but just wants to know whats going on.
you have a small brain.
for some information.
Yes, in fully serious, and yes, that's what she said.
It sounds like the stupid policy at Ford Field. But I guess I can appreciate that and keeping the really long lenses out. Still...no way you're going to get really good shots from the stands.
the D3100 55-200 with a 2x teleconverter on it. I too, took mine to The Palace and the security guard looked at it but I had the lens off.
I plan to be at the Dome about 6 to get some real good shots of pre-game warm ups Im leaving Detroit shortly for the drive down today.
I too knew of the policy and decided not to take the chance of being turned back, and left my dslr camera in the bag.. big mistake!!! You could imagine my frustration as I walked threw the crowd and seen at least 30 people with cannons or Nikons draped around their necks but no press passes. Then to add icing to the cake, my wife tells me she seen a lady walk right in with the exact same camera as I own swinging from her neck and security didn't blink. So the rule is there yes, but I don't think they are enforcing it much. Hope this helps and enjoy Atlanta!
I know this thread is a little old, but I wanted to comment in case others were looking for info on this. I am a Falcons season ticket holder and love taking my camera to the game. I photographed all but one game last season using my d700 with the 55-300 lens. Even without my pro grade lenses, I always come away with some nice shots. Here are some pics from the NFL Championship Game against the 49ers:

Security has never batted an eye when I come in with my camera bag. Some times they make me take the camera out to ensure nothing is hidden below, but they've never taken issue with the camera itself. As long as the lens is at or below 6 inches, you shouldn't have a problem. Hope that helps.
