McGary for TE
Brady wants McGary for TE.
This has to happen - start the petition drive.

Hoke wants McGary as a tight end and said he has jokingly talked to him about playing football.
"I'll take him in the red zone, just throw the ball up," Hoke said
That would be the best thing to ever happen to me, and I am married and have amazing children.
GMATT already claimed him at 5-tech
Dan Ferrigno wants him to punt.
...sigh, can't these guys get on the same page?
The coaches should talk to the genetics department
GMATT already claimed him at 5-tech
McGary as TE makes some obvious sense -- he's big and tall ... throw the ball into his zip code and it's a TD.
But Mattison's talk of McGary as 5-tech intrigued me. I'm sure Mattison was joking ... but only joking to a degree. Can a guy that size effectively play 5-Tech? Or is he "too" tall for the role?
(I'd pity the QB trying to throw over McGary with his arms up.)
The tight end thing is old news.
Now Hoke wants him to be our #2 quarterback.
I thought that was Stauskas?
Excellent at the corner routes. Especially the left corner
This would make sense, since he is not just a shooter.
Didn't you see Brian's twitter? Albrecht is the QB.
Red wants him for defense, where, at 6'6", he will be more than just a shooter.
I guess we wouldn't need to roll him out of the pocket.
On a serious note, I've always wondered why some of the more athletic college basketball centers have not been red zone specialists. Can you imagine declaring McGary eligible the for the OSU game, without giving them time to rearrange their roster to match up? I'm not sure about the NCAA rules on this, but what would stop Brady from signing him for a single game like that, aside from eating a scholarship that was destined for the basketball team?
While I am being reflective, how come big time basketball schools don't let some of their players sit the bench for football? Isn't the rule that a two sport athlete defaults their scholarship to the football team? Am I completely wrong? That seems like an easy way to game the system. Having tons of basketball scholarships available for teams like Indiana would only help them.
He had a couple of beautiful passes!
They want Spike to fill in for Jake Ryan.
But based on his progression this year in BBall he'd be silly to risk an injury. Still, he's got great hands. Can you imagine a 6' 10" TE in the Red-Zone? Wow.....
Seriously, why is this a topic on the board. Can we get a refresher on what is BOARD WORTHY material?
You mean like that one you started about... Um... ok, so you've never started a thread, "worthy" or otherwise. Never mind.
depends what time of the year it is. Right now it's slow except for the BB team, so not such a big deal. First week of September this would be blasted all to hell.
are we following Notre Dame recruiting again?
HIs comment back was "Don't think we haven't talked about that as a staff."
Almost anything is board material this week.
Disagree. GRIII looks thin and has problems with stronger players on the basketball court. Could you imagine him trying to chip a D-End? McGary wouldn't have this problem.
Also, Burke for nickelback.
Burke is CLEARLY a kicker, because he makes a lot of threes.
But in all seriousness, stick with basketball. No need for further risking an injury, especially with McGary's progression over the past few weeks.
In all seriousness for as tough as McGary is, basketball is less physical and he's a vital asset to this team next year. No reason at all to risk him in another sport doing something like this. Would be just as dumb as OSU playing Craft at DB.
a class in logic. He needs to stay with one sport especially at the DIV 1 level.
In all honesty no way...we need him to avoid big hits
My guess is that there is so much more to learn in the sport that there's a very small chance that the guy will be useful. You can outjump any DB, but there's still a relatively small window for a QB to throw the ball, and you're useless to the team other than your ability to grab the ball in that four square foot window.
Paul Jokisch seemed to manage the transition from basketball to football receiver.
Did he play in high school?
Didn't Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez both play basketball before becoming TEs?
Jimmy Graham has been decent the last couple years. And different position but Joe Reitz from Western made the transition to offensive lineman.
we already know he can block (see Kansas replay)!
Make me think we might not really be a "basketball school" after all.
Would McGary dive after incomplete passes and balls thown out of bounds?
I picture him leaping into the stands three rows deep
Magnificent
Too bad the finals were March 28-30.

I think McGary would take the 10 meter platform.
superathletic, freakish TE that we have on the roster?
FREE FUNCHESS!
Yes, I thought they would use him more as the season went on - they used him less.
1st half of season 10 receptions for 196yd.
2nd half 5 for 89.
That... that could be helpful.
Excessive celebration penalties after a -1 yard run.
