OT: The things that piss you off, and the music you enjoy while being pissed off.
So as the title says I want to know who in here enjoys having sex with a rhino in here gets pissed off about stupid things? What are the stupid things that piss you off? I hate people.
Seriously, I have about 4 friends, and I have two family members I'm very close with. And I have a wife and two kids. Almost every other person I meet in real life can go have sex with a rhino proceed to get lost in a not so nice way.
Also what music do you enjoy. I am a HUGE Hold Steady fan, and lately I've really gotten into Defiance, Ohio. I know their name sucks but what are you gonna do?
EDIT: The strikethrough feature does not seem to be working. So you'll just have to be confused about rhino sex for the time being.
We should follow each other on Spotify, we have similar tastes in music.
My mainstays are Built to Spill, NMH, Pavement, Guided by Voices and of course (of course!) my all time favorite band Uncle Tupelo.
I hadn't heard Defiance, Ohio before and I like.
I absolutely love Built to Spill and Pavement. I'm not a huge fan of NMH but everyone says that I should love them, maybe I'll give them another chance. Oh and I'm not on Spotify but I could probably come into the 21st century.
We are kindred spirits.
Sort of.
Built to Spill's live version of "Cortez the Killer" is awesome. See also: Halo Benders.
Not a big fan of Guided by Voices, but whatever.
Sucks that you hate people. I kind of like you, but I bet I wouldn't if I met you AFK. Music: I'm really getting into Macklemore, but I don't like his hit song ("Thrift Shop"). Anyone else like a specific artist but hate what is considered their "best songs"?
I love Muse but am not too fond of Madness or Supermassive Black Hole. Give me their older stuff.
Damn they have some good songs.
I love finding a band I haven't heard before that has a whole catelog of music I can dive into.
I found the Smiths late in life and it was like Christmas, just soaking in album after album. Nothing like binging on old, great music that you have just discovered for yourself.
Nice post on the Citizen Erased (my favorite Muse song) and Plugin Baby. Muse is excellent live so I figured I would add more Muse to the board. Cheers.
recent performance of a classic muse b-side
No politics!
How do you feel about Knights of Cydonia? I love that song.
Great song and one of my favorite music videos of all time.
Knights of Cydonia is awesome as well. The riffs, oh the riffs!! If you get a chance to see Muse live, KOC pays for the whole ticket.
Seeing them in Concert tomorrow at the Joe...Too stoked!
when I saw them on the BH&R tour they opened with Knights of Cydonia and closed with Take a Bow. I loved that it was inverse of the album. also, they blew my fucking mind. ALWAYS see them if they're coming within a few hours and you can swing the money.
they will be in Chicago this coming Monday, March 4, I believe. I can't go as I have grad school that night but if any Chicago-area Muse fans didn't know they were coming, go and have fun.
I just picked up their latest album The 2nd Law last week, love it.
That is a GREAT song. And how can you not love the cowboy/kung-fu/outer space video?
I'm curious --
Did you like Thrift Shop at first and now you're sick of it, or did you never like it at all? I definitely have some "sick of it" situations with the hit songs of bands I like.
No, I've always disliked Thrift Shop -- would even change the radio station when it came on. Then Chantel Jennings tweeted something about how the Macklemore pandora station was awesome getting-work-done-at-a-coffeeshop music. I did thumbs down Thrift Shop once it played, though, haha.
Thrift Shop is a solid song, but it's just so damn over played. It's no where near Macklemore's best, which IMO would probably be either Wings or Otherside (Remix). I'd definitely check out some of his earlier work if you haven't yet—VS. EP, VS. Redux and Language of My World have some great tracks on them.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll spotify those, thanks!
I would also try listening to the original verision of Otherside. I prefer that one over the remix, but they are both good. I don't think they have the original on spotify though.
I think the video is much better than the song itself. The video is amazing. But many of his other songs ("Wings" and "10,000 Hours" are my two favorites) are better.
Death Cab for Cutie has a bunch of songs that I think are superior to their radio played ones, especially old stuff. I feel like a hipster now.
I listen to Lupe when I'm pissed, generally. Or old school Eminem.
Until now, Thrift Shop was the only song I had heard from Macklemore. I thought it was stupid and never bothered to listen to anything else from him. I've now been listening to his stuff for over half an hour and am loving it.
I'm glad you had the same experience as me! Enjoy!
Nuff said.
P.S. thanks for the sex with a rhino explanation. That one was really baffling me.
you had me at "who in here enjoys having sex with a rhino"
I'm a native Hoosier. Bandwagon fans piss me off more than just about anything... Not talking about IU fans though; they've been rabid and ridiculous through the past 10 years. I'm talking about the Indiana Pacers, baby. I'm a diehard Pacers fan. Stuck through the dark years rooting hard and pulling for them even when they kept Jim O'Brien WAY too long. Fuck all these so-called "Pacers" fans now-a-days who recently just showed their face on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Their asshatness eats my soul.
When I think of bandwagon fans, I'll listen to some pump up music and then go pump some iron. Either that or order some Chinese food.
God bless,
Tim Tebro
I hear you, I grew in Indianapolis and am 35 and have been a Pacer fan since I was little, before herb williams was ballin for us. Always been a fan and always will. I don't follow the NBA as much as I did when I was younger but I am real happy we are playing great, especially without Granger. I haven't seen the bandwagon fans though. I live in Illinois now, and everyone here loves the Bulls, not me.
Music wise, I like the hardcore stuff, Jedi Mind tricks, Wu Tang. Ill Bill, Czarface, Primus.
AC/DC, man.
They create great drinking songs as well.

One thing I do not enjoy is having sex with a rhino.
As for music, Hoodie Allen's new mixtape is dope.
Psh, go back to your side of the Diag.
Amen to Hoodie.
I just love me some white, Jewish rappers from Long Island
The only thing that really pisses me off is hearing people judge me for having sex with rhinos.
When that happens, I listen to Tchaikovsky.
I'm not judging you for sexing up Rhino's. But for listening to Tchaikovsky while doign it.
Prokofiev is the only composer I can listen to while having sex with Rhinos.
I would never listen to Tchaikovsky while having sex with rhinos. That's disgusting. I listen to Tchaikovsky when I'm upset about people judging me for having sex with rhinos. Obviously I listen to Prokofiev during the actual act.
OOOOOH.
That makes more sense.
The idea of listening to Tchaikovsky while fornicating with rhinos just seems obscene to me. However, Prokofiev music is totally fine while rhino-banging.
I'm glad that we resolved this. On my way to work this morning, I figured that rhino sex discussion probably would be a big part of the day, and I was worried that someone might misunderstand my rhino sex music preferences.
It turns out that today is going way better than I expected.
+100000000 cocktails to you guys. You took a terrible thread and made it way moar entertaining. Lub u
I prefer Shostakovich during love-making sessions involving rhinos.
COME AT ME.
and turtles...
Music: I love the Avett Brothers, Decemberists, and Arcade Fire to name a few, but when I am pissed off, I tend to listen to the Dropkick Murphy's...
Stupid things that piss me off: Bandwagon fans, and Stephen A Smith/Skip Bayless
Dropkick Murphys are great when you're pissed. Good choices.
As an added bonus - it seems to piss people off when someone my age listens to DKM.
Have you checked out Frightened Rabbit before? If you like Folk/Indie then they're definitely a good band to listen to.
