[Confirmed:] Henry Poggi an official visitor to Bama this weekend
According to 247 & Rivals (paywalled). Of course, the story for the last few weeks has been Poggi visiting Bama - but only to see his friend in Tuscaloosa. Now it appears this will be an official visit and Nick Saban is expecting him. Not good, IMO.
My personal opinion, Poggi and his dad were using the "visiting a friend" angle to run interference with the actual visit. If he was really visiting his friend, why couldn't it just wait until afer NSD?
...commence panic.
Mod edit: Changed title since it seems this doesn't come from Poggi or anyone who can speak for him. JGB.
Edit two: Changed the title again since it sounds like the visit was confirmed.

This season is already starting off as one of my favorites. The three of them are just stupid enough to still be funny without being too obnoxious.

Okay, I hold a rivals account, and this isn't even confirmed. Basically, the Bama people have been expecting/wanting Poggi to visit for weeks without it acutally happening. Insiders are saying he may visit, but even if he does that he isn't likely to switch commitments. Additionally, neither Henry or his father have commented on this latest rumor...please hold off on badtalking the kid

Yep, saw the same thing on TOS and was very relieved to hear these are just recylcled rumors from last week.

Thanks for the informative post. Do yourself a favor and change your username. I don't care if it doesn't mean what people think it means. Also, "neither...nor". That one bugs me. That is all.

Hold off bad talking the kid? Even if he leaves, we shouldn't bad talk the kid.
January 25th, 2013 at 1:10 PM ^
I absolutely agree. Sorry if it wasn't clear from my post, but my point was to simply not talk bad about the kid, especially since everything was/is hearsay.

Certainly it's his right to do whatever he thinks is in his best interest, and also his right (and I think a very smart decision) to try to do it as privately as posible, but if he leaves, I'll be quite bummed.

Neither Poggi's have confirmed anything. Change your title.

Chill. There is NOTHING NEW HERE. It is all the same talk.
January 25th, 2013 at 6:58 PM ^
So if there's nothing new to see here, then why is it an OFFICIAL visit?
January 26th, 2013 at 12:09 AM ^
It's called reading between the lines. Look at the picture again and study it. Wait for it, waaaaaait for it....got it yet?
January 25th, 2013 at 11:21 AM ^
The rivals board has been quite explicit that they expect Poggi to remain Blue, but they also threw in the "anything can happen" caveat. If the kid wants to check out 'Bama and switch it's certainly his right, if there's truth to it it bugs me that it's this close to signing day and awfully late for Michigan to find a replacement.
On another note, can someone please blow up the 'Bama deathstar already?

The 247 thing is a board post, not an article. As stated above, it essentially says Alabama is expecting Poggi this weekend, which as several have pointed out above, is no different than any other weekend for the last few weeks.
Lorenz suggests that this potential visit has been cleared by the coaches at their in home visit last week.
Wiltfong talked to one of the assistent coaches going with Poggi's dad this weekend to Alabama who stated "Henry may or may not come with us."

Can someone confirm the pronunciation of his name? I had assumed it was pah-gee, but I heard Sam Webb pronounce it poe-jee the other day.
January 25th, 2013 at 11:35 AM ^
The announcers were using the latter during his all star game (I can't remember if it was the UA or Army game).
January 25th, 2013 at 1:38 PM ^
Yeah, it's definitely POE-jee.

I always thought it rhymed with Yogi. Until I know for sure I'll just call him 'Sir Henry'.
