Cough syrup with Codeine. Effing cold...
October 26th, 2012 at 9:44 PM ^
They have all the leftover Summer Shandy twelve-packs for $7.50. So...yeah. Good times.

I must admit, I am making good use of the bottle of Captain Morgan that was given to me recently as a rather strange but fitting condolence for a recent death of a sibling (who was a rum and Coke fan herself). I am making good use of it in her memory as I watch bad Big East football.
October 26th, 2012 at 9:48 PM ^
I am watching The Watchmen blu-ray and now feeling very sad since I met you personally. I am now somehow attached to your loss and feel for you, man. Ugh. Let me know if there's anything I can do.
Sorry for covering your face with the HTTV in the one photo.
October 26th, 2012 at 9:52 PM ^
Actually, you vastly improved that photo, considering Dilithium is on the cover of HTTV and he is far better looking than a 34 year-old middle-management guy in a large corporation.
Thanks though. The service was only Wednesday...this week is the first time all this has been "real", if that makes sense.
October 26th, 2012 at 9:56 PM ^
You made enough of an impression on me that I remember you specifically. I'm really sorry for your loss. I can't imagine losing a sibling. I have only one, and she's such an important part of my life. Consider this an e-Brohug.
The next Rum & Coke goes out to your sib's memory. If I can do more, let me know. I will. Already sending up some prayers for you.

condolences.

Thanks. In its own way, the MGoCommunity, by virtue of existing with all of its irreverence and humor, has helped me out some.
October 27th, 2012 at 3:48 AM ^
Condolences indeed. I will drink a rum and coke in honor of your sibling tomorrow during the game.

BEAT 'Braska!!!
October 26th, 2012 at 9:50 PM ^
Furthermore, with a nice slice of pizza... Nothing beats a Prima Pils.
October 26th, 2012 at 9:48 PM ^
I wandered into the store looking for fall beer. I came out with Blue Moon Pumpkin Nonsense-Shit. Damn it all.
October 26th, 2012 at 9:49 PM ^
I'm interested in trying their winter abbey ale.
October 26th, 2012 at 9:58 PM ^
This is the first non-Belgian-White I've tried of theirs, and I am incredibly disappointed. I'm wary of trying anything else they make after this.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:00 PM ^
Yeah I had their pumpkin one and was disappointed in it too. But I love me some regular Blue Moon!

Anatomy practical Tuesday, since you're so interested. But fuggit, it's Friday!
October 26th, 2012 at 10:19 PM ^
Cadaveric praticals? Blaaaah. Bad memories. Mostly wiped out of my mind with copious amounts of alcohol
October 26th, 2012 at 10:03 PM ^
I've seen a fair amount of pumpkin beers ... but as yet not tried any. Did you? And if so, how as it?
EDIT - I see your answer above ... not good, huh? I'm generally cautious with beer like that.

I remember seeing Pumking mentioned here once before and looked for it tonight, but to no avail. It probably isn't available here in northern Illinois. Too lazy to Google.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:19 PM ^
It was me with the Pumking. Widely regarded as the best pumpkin ale. It's by Southern Tier Brewery (Western NY), so who knows if it is out in Illinois -- but it's only sold in 750mL bottles, so you'll have to head to one of your fancy stores that sells 22oz of beer that cost $10+. But, like I said, beer snobs love it and is has a cult following, so I bet that most areas of the country have access to it (at least in the larger cities).
Edit: And for those who wonder what it tastes like, it tastes EXACTLY like pumpkin pie. No lie.

with my bordering on crazy knowledge I pick up here, that very well might be Binny's in Highland Park or Lake Zurich for Mr. Zombie Brimley.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:27 PM ^
For carp's sake, this blog knows everything. I'll look into it tomorrow night.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:39 PM ^
Well you are right sir, and they have it for much cheaper than what I pay! Hopefully they have it in stock (some of the stores say "Limited" and others say "Seasonal", so who knows) Mr. Brimley:

Be sure to call the Binny's first. Even the dudes I talk to there say the website isn't updated as often as it should. The one on Clark had it the last few times I was in there, FYI.
October 26th, 2012 at 11:13 PM ^
Spectacular work, men .I'll give 'em a call tomorrow and hopefully be drinking GOOD pumpkin beer while I watch Michigan string up Nebraska.
October 27th, 2012 at 5:50 PM ^
I walked by a display of pumpkin beer with Pumking on top. I had a pretty set shopping list for tonight, so I didn't end up getting any, though.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:14 PM ^
I don't like it. There's a little bit of the expected Blue Moon taste, all drowned out with really strong nutmeg and cloves. It tastes like tea I'd make myself if deathly ill.

New Holland Hopivore
I wish I liked the Michigan beer better but New Holland continues to underwhelm me.
October 26th, 2012 at 9:58 PM ^
I recommend Arcadia and ABC. Vastly superior to New Holland, which has like, two good beers.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:42 PM ^
I'll give you Arcadia, but ABC better than New Holland? No way.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:44 PM ^
Nobody has anything like it. So good.
Arcadia, though. Whitsun FTW!!!
October 26th, 2012 at 10:59 PM ^
Between Dragon's Milk and Ichabod, I'm a big New Holland fan.
October 26th, 2012 at 11:03 PM ^
I can't do dragon's milk, though. got a 750 of it in Chicago. Too much. And this coming from a guy who drinks supper smokey scotches.
October 26th, 2012 at 11:08 PM ^
October 26th, 2012 at 11:11 PM ^
I mean it's not my favorite, but those two beers put it over ABC for me. I've just never been impressed by any of their beers personally. I'd put Founders, Bells, Shorts, and Dark Horse all above both of them.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:43 PM ^
I like a lot of beer from NH. Beer is a matter of taste as we all know, but I venture that ABC only has two good beers. We agree on Arcadia though.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:05 PM ^
Sounds like you need some Founders, more specifically their Devil Dancer
October 26th, 2012 at 10:39 PM ^
excellent post for your first one.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:42 PM ^
Eh, forget Devil Dancer. I'm ready for Backwoods Bastard season already!
October 26th, 2012 at 11:00 PM ^
I have 38 different kinds of beer in my basement at the moment and 8 more in the fridge so I definitely don't need to go buy more. I was more commenting on being disappointed (again) by New Holland.
