It doesn't mean all that much, but I like hearing Hawk say that he'd take the Sox offense over the Tigers, right before Berry and Cabrera hit back to back home runs.
I'm sure most of you know that the Hawk is one of the biggest homers in the history of homerism.
Mr. Ufer was a bit of a homer himself, but he was smart and endearing. Hawk is just biased and downright annoying. "He gone." And "You can put it on the board....yes!" They make my skin crawl. This coming from a Boston fan.
All the videos seem to have been removed by MLB, but hearing him go silent for a 63 seconds after Peralta hit a walk off earlier this year was awesome.
So. Awful. All the excitement I get from being able to watch the Tigs play (I live in Chicago) is instantly hampered by having to listen to Hawk. Thankfully my mute button is fully-functional.
Can't talk about the Hawk without posting this picture.
Cabrera's homerun was the 299th of his career. I could definitely see him hitting another for 300 today with this wind out to left field.
good call!
Dang - nailed it. Any more predictions?
Boesch coming alive is huge. How about moving him back to the #2 spot?
Solid effort from Turner. Now, bullpen, bring this one home.
The Tigers better trade for a second basemen. Just an average hitter and fielder would be fine. I'm sick of seeing Raburn and Santiago trotted out there
If you haven't noticed, there's aren't a ton available 2B that would be significant upgrades. And DD isn't going to overpay for one. His trade track record is actually pretty good so he's only going to make a deal that makes sense in the short term that doesn't mortgage anything long term. I would love to get an upgrade at 2B, but I actually don't see it happening.
Need the bullpen to close this one fast, the sox are clawing their way back.
And, Indians already down 2 after a half inning.
Looking forward to catching the Tigers in person when they are in town this week.
I expect to hear "Hail to the Chief" when I walk into my office for the postgame media thing. That is all

AL Central standings June, 1, 2012:
Chicago Sox | 30 | 22 | .577 | - | 13-13 | 17-9 | 248 | 208 | +40 | Won 9 |
Cleveland | 28 | 23 | .549 | 1.5 | 16-14 | 12-9 | 226 | 244 | -18 | Won 1 |
Detroit | 24 | 28 | .462 | 6 | 11-13 | 13-15 | 228 | 239 | -11 | Lost 1 |
Kansas City | 22 | 28 | .440 | 7 | 6-17 | 16-11 | 202 | 219 | -17 | Won 3 |
Minnesota | 18 | 33 | .353 | 11.5 | 9-17 | 9-16 | 197 | 277 | -80 | Lost 1 |
It got worse still - at one point the Tigers were 26-32. They've played .684 ball (26-12) since.
I was focusing more on games back. 6 games back is the low water mark for the Tigers this season; Last occuring on June, 12
There's more of a market for outfielders than there is for 2B.
Epstien is asking for the world for Darwin Barney. Aaron Hill is out there, but with the new wild card the DBacks are only 5 games out so they aren't selling yet and maybe never be. Infante has been mentioned, but he'll come with a huge price tag too.
As much as I hope Q continues what he's doing, I don't think anyone should expect him to continue hitting the way he is.
Yes, second base is our weakest position. However, that's true of many teams - it's a really bad year for second basemen.
Cabrera is now only 9 HR off of Hank Aaron's pace, at the same age... and is well above Barry Bonds by 78 HR at the same age. It goes without saying that this guy is an amazing hitter. Det. fans should appreciate what they are seeing here....he may be the best Tiger hitter ever.
As I've often said; Best Tiger hitter since Hank Greenberg.

One of my fondest rememberances as a Tigers fan living in Chicago is when Detroit beat the Sox on "Hawk Harrelson Day" last season. He's the worst.
I try not to do this too often (in fact, I don't think I've done this yet), but I'm calling you Leyland haters out:
brandon_cook: How do you feel about your prediction that Leyland would be gone by the All Star Break?
TheDirtyD: Do you still feel like Leyland isn't the best coach we could get?
AllIn4Blue: How dumb do you feel now, after all the freaking out you did back in MAY? Hope that ulcer has finally gone away.
GoBlueMich02: Do you still feel like it's time for Leyland to be gone? How do you like our IDIOT manager now that we're in first place?
graybeaver: Still feel like it was Leyland's fault that we were playing so poorly earlier this season?
goblue11: Still want Francona?
tnwolverine: Still feel like this team is all hype and no substance?
Winterblue75 and HailToTheVictors08 are about the only 2 who I saw try to give reasoned arguments for for firing Leyland. Kudos for that. But you still wanted him gone. Still feel the same way? Or does being in 1st place change things?
I hope this is a lesson for all of you: don't freak out when things aren't going well in May. Baseball is a marathon. Firing people willy-nilly doesn't accomplish anything.
Go Tigers!
