Jalen Rose calls out Skip Bayless
...and has a snappy description for Bayless' "high school heroics" on ESPN's First Take.

Skip Bayless is an utter moron who will say anything to try and prove whatever idiotic point he is making
I hate Bayless, and yet I'm still embarrassed for him here. I wished they showed more of the clip because Jalen has him pinned and sprawling like J. Alfred Prufrock.
I lump Bayless right in there with Cowherd and Valenti, in terms of utter moronic stupidity. Clearly, the oxygen should be distributed elsewhere.
"Um . . . er. . . we'll address that later."
Did he ever address it? I have been looking for it everywhere.
Oh man this is even better than when Terrell Suggs called him a douche live on air.
Even Suggs calling him a douche didn't get Skip to be quiet. Jalen made Skip shut the hell up right there.
That is just uncomfortable to watch. Awesome, but very uncomfortable.
I know, in one hand I'm like "GET HIM JALEN!" and the then other hand I'm about to cry because it looks like that is what Skip is gonna do.
It was like a carny or wrestler "breaking kayfabe." Skip was totally out of his on-air persona for a moment, and we got to see the human being behind the mask.
I think he should keep the mask on.
I'm glad that Jalen has no problem calling it like he sees it, regardless of the venue. I know it can get him in trouble at times, but whenever I find myself landing on First Take as I surf channels, I can't help by yell at the TV for someone to call his BS. Thank you, Jalen, for doing what so many before you have refused to do.
but i hate that type of argument that rose (and other athletes) throw out there; saying one can't be a good writer/sportscaster if they didn't play the sport. to me, that's an argument one throws out there when they can't defend their point on its own merit.
i would guess that the best movie critics weren't/aren't good actors. or the best food critics weren't/aren't good chefs. and i know that the best sportswriters weren't/aren't good athletes.
Jalen might through that argument out more than I know, but in this clip he only countered with the that argument after Bayless tried to use it first.
Yeah. To fully appreciate that clip, you need to read what Bayless tweeted a week ago, in which he implied that his high school basketball prowess gave him special insight.
Jebus, that was painful. I hope Jalen never investigates my self-described "Chamberlainian" way with the ladies in high school.
Jalen went all Honey Badger. Gotta love that.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who has completely written Skip Bayless off as a legitimate sports "journalist"

Written off implies he was legitimate at one point.
When was Bayless actually legitimate?

I like to give everyone a fair chance and the benefit of the doubt. Colin Cowherd changed my mind after giving him a chance, now I love the guy

This is hardly a calling out. It sounds a lot more like a Dave Brandon pimp slap.
1.4ppg as a Senior? JV as a Junior? Did Jalen hire a private investigator get these stats? Skip got a taste of his own medicine (awesome), and hopefully it doesnt cost #5 down the road since Skip is obviously sleeping with someone with some major pull at ESPN for him to be showcased so much. Never the less though Great job #5, he's had that coming for a long time.
First Take is a cesspool for intelligent discussions about sport.
As this thread illustrates, people are still sitting in front of the TV and yelling/fuming at Skip Bayless. They aren't changing the channel.
ESPN has learned/theorized that no matter what viewers say they are more likely to watch some loudmouth make an ass of himself so they can disagree with him at home than see an actual rational, informed discussion about sports.
This is why Mariotti, Bayless, Rome, Stephen A. Smith, and a countless list of others make it on the air. The only way to get them off is to turn off the TV when you see their face.
Rome is still around? I stopped listening to that ass clown 10 years ago.
Unfortunately, more people have not followed your example.

Not on is he still around but he's (his crotch?) still burning.
I actually just saw a billboard ad for Rome on CBSSports TV. At least ESPN finally wised up.
They have also found that twitter is a great thermometer for hot topics. In an instant they can see who's all flamed up. No waiting for ratings, just stir the pot and watch the tweets roll in. A lot of times, half their shows are spent reading tweets.
Skip Bayless = turd
But Jalen will probably get called into the principal's office over this.
Moral of the story: Don't tell blatant lies if you're a media figure. They're are far too many people out there with little enough to do that it's going to get found out, and you'll be called out.
On another note, haha! He deserved to be called out!
about?? Did Skip ly about his highschool basketball prowess?
although i generally dislike the "former athlete now commentator" idea that no one knows anything about a sport unless they were a high level pro.
I think this is the story that originally called Skip out. Good stuff.
Skip Bayless is the worst. He is a classic example of a person who thinks that talking louder makes your argument more correct. He deserves all the discreditation possible.
I THINK YOU ARE WRONG
I love it, he was pretty tamed for the rest of the show. Finally, something that shut him up. I hope Jalen will be on the show more, but i highly doubt it. When Skip says we can discuss that some other time, I am afraid that is the last we see of Jalen.
Yeah Jalen!!!!!!!!
Way more than a guy with a PBS show:
Did some post graduate work at UMich. Nice.

I guess I just never connected the dots... that being said, the dude won Top Chef Masters, he's way more than some PBS figure
For any doubters, Chet averaged 40 ppg throughout his 4 years in high school even though he was hindered by his 3 foot long penis slowing him down.
this sums up Skip Bayless
