OT: Red Wings Open Thread (Plus potential NHL debut for Mr. Hunwick)
Fourth place is essential, and a win tonight would help solidify that. Pre-game show giving Hunwick a healthy amount of love, including speculation on his future with Columbus.
Hopefully the Wings take control and we get to see some glorious Hunwick action with the game in hand.
Red Wings at Columbus, NBCSports 7:30ET.
Also, anybody enjoying Oberon tonight? I've got four left plus some Summer Shandy, it's great being able to sit on the deck between periods drinking summer beer.
Priceless.
Had my first Oberon at Ashley's last night. Followed that up with some DFH 120.
I've tried the 60 and the 90 (and liked both), but 120 has eluded me. DFH makes some great brews, I love their India Brown Ale as well.
Douple IPA night last night. They had some big boys on tap. Definitely glad I tried the 120 but it was pretty sweet for my taste.
Edit: Also, above I meant first Oberon of the year. Definitely have had plenty of those.

I'm enough of a beer geek that I have my favorite bottles on my kitchen cabinets in order; DFH IBA is number five on the list of bottles I've bought.
It's a unique taste without being too weird or alcoholic to drink in quantity. In other words, the perfect beer, IMO.
It'll be about as good as this image
Don't have a rooting interest in this (I'd probably lean Wings anyway), but I really want to see Hunwick play. So I'm rooting for the Wings to knock out the starter, so we get some Hunwick time.
I like how he is showing his Michigan pride in Columbus.
So is it going to take 5 early Red Wings goals for Hunwick to play? I'm down with that.
No team dinner or astronomy class for Hunwick.
Tisk tisk...
They score first.
Wings down 1-0 ~seven minutes into the first.
Edit: And since when do penalties equal tough? I would love to play a team of "tough" guys taking ten minutes every game; it makes winning much easier for the opposing team.
We'll get it back.
not the worst thing ever, but he let his emotions get to him.
ESPN has four pictures up so far, but they do not give a link address and I would rather not steal copyrighted material. If anyone want's to see Shawn in Blue Jacket gear, here is the link.

He gets to wear his Michigan helmet and pads in Columbus. He probably didn't have another choice but that's awesome. First time the winged helmet's been sported in the NHL?
Good elbowing call, and we could use the PP.
Dammit, taking a penalty isn't condusive to the Wings scoring 5 unanswered goals. Wasn't that much, either. Homer takes worse all the time.
Well, at least they took a penalty.
They score again!!
Dumbass play in the zone and nobody there to bail it out. Pretty goal on a two-on-oh, unfortunately.
This is not working out.
Looks like that second Columbus goal woke the Wings up at least.
Hooking on Columbus, didn't see it initially and they didn't show a replay, so no comment.
Bertuzzi had the defense beat by a step and a half and got hooked about 5 feet from the goal. Wanted a penalty shot, no dice.
then.
Officially Holmstrom with the goal.
The Wings have always had that proverbial "switch." Hopefully it's switched on now.
Homer!
Love the helmet in the heart of enemy territory.
Wonder if this will help with the selling of our jerseys in Columbus??
Hoke got here! Only one explanation - when he was at Yost he pointed at Hunwick and no one realized it.
Holmstrom Power Play goal!! 2-1 Columbus.
Holmstrom? Hard to tell...
Thanks JMFJ!
Changed to Zetterberg's goal.
Rightfully so. Went off Jack Johnson's skate.
OK, the Wings need to score early in the 2nd period. And pile it on with 5 goals in 8 shots.
Check out this winged helmet pic... CLASSIC. Go Blue!!!!

For future reference, no. That would be a copyright violation. I don't own that pic. If I want to share, I need to transfer the credit -- NOT pass the work off as my own. Thanks for playing though.

You don't have to respond with some smartass comment like a thirteen year old girl. I was trying to explain a normal function of this website, that I figured you didn't know about because you are new. Thanks you playing though.

Just posting pictures isn't a Copyright violation, unless you tried to pass it off as your own

Man does that look goofy.
But now, Columbus has to deal with two Michigan men on their roster, plus worst record in the nhl. Lawl.
I disagree with all the reasons you didn't bother to state.
