Minor Dunn Update: Just talked to Meyer
November 28th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
Twitter is so confusing! I'm only 20 and it makes me feel like I'm 70. Who's doing the talking in the last one, there are two "and me too"'s
Edit: Nvm, just saw strobel's username

twitter needs a better way to do nested tweets
November 28th, 2011 at 11:59 PM ^
Twitter is definitely not as easy to understand as it should be...
November 29th, 2011 at 8:48 AM ^
I agree. I don't have a clue who is saying what and to who when I read these things.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:13 AM ^
But it was Shane Morris who added an extra 'Me Too!'
November 29th, 2011 at 12:48 PM ^
The scout board is blowing up saying he decommited...
November 28th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
Meyer probably tried to explain away the fact that the tailback position was an afterthought in his offense. He had zero 1,000-yard rushers at tailback in his six years at UF.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:33 PM ^
Something about him is just off. Don't you think? Even his espn interview was awkward with long pauses and he looked... Unsure and apologetic.
November 29th, 2011 at 3:49 AM ^
I watched his intro press conference and I thought the same thing. Maybe I'm being a homer, but it doesn't seem from his demeanor that he's 'all in', so to speak.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:47 PM ^
He was the same way at the Florida press conference

Someone needs to drop that stat on him quick.
November 29th, 2011 at 6:12 AM ^
Dunn.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:09 AM ^
He has two National Championships. Who the hell cares about 1,000 yard rushers. I really don't get the Urban hate in terms of what he has done in the world of college football. He has won everywhere and he didn't simply win at FL because of Tebow. There was a guy named Chris Leak there when Tebow was a situational gimmick. The guy will win. I don't think he will win more than Hoke over the next 10 years but he will win. In fact, him+Braxton Miller scares the hell out of me.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:30 AM ^
That's a good point, but I think you're missing the argument here. Brionte wants to have a chance to play in a prostyle offense which will then best help him get to the NFL. Meyer has not produced that type of player or used that type of player in his offense. Dunn doesn't like that offense as a result. If Dunn goes to OSU and isn't used properly, it might hinder him from accomplishing other goals, like playing in the NFL, even if he is on a national championship team.
November 29th, 2011 at 6:30 AM ^
It realy scares the hell out of you? Pussy.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:44 AM ^
You could have at least come up with something new rather than simply calling him names. At least be a little more creative!
November 29th, 2011 at 8:42 AM ^
Who the hell cares about 1000 yeard rushers? Guys going to college to rush the football. That's who.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:08 AM ^
who are strong NFL hopefulls. Meyer is a great coach, no doubt, but he's not the right one for a guy that wants to be an NFL RB (or QB, some may argue).
November 29th, 2011 at 9:55 AM ^
Stirring the Tebow pot I see, well played sir.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:42 AM ^
On paper, he didn't get any more out of Chris Leak than Ron Zook.
I'm not going to argue that he's a bad coach, but there's no way he has the same four year stretch without Tim Tebow. So the question is whether he can find another player like that (not to mention defense and coaching staff).
December 11th, 2011 at 10:27 AM ^
"I don't think he will win more than Hoke over the next 10 years but he will win" - Get real! Mattison's vaunted defensive prowess was one missed long pass from losing to a Fickell-coached Buckeye team (at home no less). "Hoke" rhymes with "choke", "joke", "yoke" (that the Buckeyes will put on them), "broke", and "toke" (the only way UM students will be able to feel good after "The Game" from here on out).
"Meyer" rhymes with "fire", "desire", "higher", "inspire", "retire" (Hoke, that is), and "acquire" (recruits and victories).
Now that the Bucks have that loss out of their system (it was bound to happen sooner or later, and during a down year to boot - might as well do it during a throw away year), Meyer will get them geared up so high that TSUN will long for the "Tressel years." Say "goodbye" to the Ohio recruiting pipeline (kind of ironic that UM depends on Ohio players - the converse is certainly not true- don't they play high school football up there?). Maybe UM should become a OSU satellite campus....
"Hoke springs eternal"? I guess it will have to every year because it will never be realized after getting crushed each year by Meyer's Buckeyes!
Go Bucks! (we'll see if the MGoBlog folks can take this heat).
November 29th, 2011 at 7:31 AM ^
Hopefully Dymonte knows this fact. He'll be sure to remind Brionte often.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:29 PM ^
according to a scout article, Urban will be making an in a house visit this week and they talked about how dunn would fit in the offense over the phone.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:36 PM ^
Pretty sure Fred Jackson is visiting him in house as well. When Dunn hears he can be the next Anthony Thomas cross bred with Tim Biakabutuka, but with the heart and determination of Mike Hart, he might turn blue.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:11 AM ^
..."with the heart and determination of Mike Hart" but *fast*.
December 10th, 2011 at 11:29 PM ^
Hart never beat the Buckeyes. Neither will Dunn.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:14 AM ^
November 29th, 2011 at 12:24 AM ^
i'm confused. are you saying that Brionte Dunn is like the 4G version of Mike Hart??
(ok ok that was terrible)
November 29th, 2011 at 2:34 AM ^
Well played, yes as well.
November 29th, 2011 at 8:28 AM ^
not that bad. don't be so hard on urself.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
He would fit into the O as the situational power runner, something all O's need. Tebow fit that bill at FL fortunately for Meyer along with everything else possible. Dunn is not a situational runner though; he is, and should be, a features back.

But somehow I think Meyer told him he would run pro-style, just to get him into the fold.
November 29th, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
Meyer's offense is good, but it isn't flexible. Just ask John Brantley how good Meyer is at accommodating pro-style players...
November 28th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
Shane and the gang getting it done, me like!
November 28th, 2011 at 11:30 PM ^
Unfortunately for Dunn, Michigan should be running quite a bit of spread next year -- however with Morris coming in (and Gardner's height and passing ability), I hope Dunn recognizes that we are truly moving into a pro-style offense.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:33 PM ^
Michigan runs the spread and still gets a 1,000 yard RB along with Denard. All Urban had for running was Tebow at Florida. And with Gardner the offense will be a lot more pro set heavy, and then with Shane it will almost cetainly be all pro with some shotgun thrown in.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
"All Urban had for running was Tebow at Florida"
Percy Harvin disagrees with you. But he was completely different than Dunn
November 28th, 2011 at 11:53 PM ^
Percy Harvin was a slot, and kind of a mix around get the ball in his hands however you can kind of guy. By no means did he regularly run the ball.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:35 AM ^
scat/slot ≠ feature RB
November 29th, 2011 at 3:17 AM ^
So he was able to be used differently. We can say our sub 4.4 guy is the QB, so we'll need to tote the rock.
November 29th, 2011 at 8:38 AM ^
November 28th, 2011 at 11:34 PM ^
That's not really the issue. Toussaint topped 1,000 yards rushing this year and will probably exceed that next year. It's not the spread per se, but the Meyer version of the spread that doesn't make the tailback the primary rusher.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:37 PM ^
I bet it would if he had Dunn.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:29 AM ^
You think none of his Florida teams had talented running backs?
November 29th, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
...but I don't think anyone he's ever coached has played a down at RB in the NFL. That could mean he never recruited talent at the position or it could mean talent was wasted....
November 29th, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^
has played some downs as running back for the Vikings.
November 29th, 2011 at 4:52 PM ^
I don't think it takes anything away from the argument, but you're right.
November 29th, 2011 at 2:32 PM ^
Jeff Demps, Chris Rainey, Mon Williams, Chevon Walker, Bo Williams, and Emmanuel Moody were all 4-star RB recruits. Either Meyer got extremely unlucky and went 0-for-6 in recruiting good players, or he doesn't have a clue how to use or develop RBs.
