I've seen that wasn't taken with the intent to be horrifying. If I remember my D&D correctly, would he be a mummy, lich, or zombie?
August 23rd, 2011 at 12:12 AM ^
but I believe that is a lich. a lich that has lost his sanity... although he seems to be cursing the raiders...opening the possibility of him being a mummy. probably a lich though.

They should show this to people who won't wear sunscreen.

Did we really need another thread expecially with an official supplemental draft thread just a couple spots lower
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
I believe this is technically a OT thread since it is dealing with pro sports now
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
Pryor talk has been OT for four years.
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:46 PM ^
Fast at your given position trumps any and all other characteristics. At least he won't be aquiring Jamarcus Russel money when failing to compete week to week. I bet he starts week 6 (first week available to play) and has 0 TDs and 2 INTs before getting pulled
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:51 PM ^
I'm sure Davis saw Pryor's workout speed and choked on his tongue with excitement.
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:54 PM ^
You spelled "excrement" wrong.
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:53 PM ^
Couldn't think of a better match. The criminals in the stands in the Black Hole will love Pryor. They belong together.
August 22nd, 2011 at 4:00 PM ^
Pryor has finally found a home. Pryor and Al Davis...what a handsome couple, particularly if Al Davis really looks like the pic in the beginning of the thread.
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:55 PM ^
...the raiders. because of course they did.
marinovich, russell, marc wilson...yes, i can see it now.
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^
Fairly sure someone on one of threads made a joke about Davis picking him up a few days or couple weeks ago.
August 22nd, 2011 at 2:08 PM ^
Yeah I said that, but it wasn't too far of a stretch given their affinity for the best "athletes" regardless on what they'll translate to in the NFL. I'm still surprised they didn't pick Tebow just because he's a freak athlete.
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:55 PM ^
I'm surprised he went that high. There were a few interesting things about Pryor today on SportCenter. The first is that he's friggin fast. At his pro day this past Saturday he was timed at 4.36 and 4.41 in the 40 yard dash. And the other thing was that he announced that he is willing to play receiver. I'm not sure how his hands are, but with that speed and the fact that he's 6' 6" he might become a pretty good receiver in the nfl.
Although knowing the Raiders, he will probably become the next Jamarcus Russell.
August 22nd, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
For the first time in the NFL after playing another position their entire life generally do well.
August 22nd, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
Thanks for the snark, ever hear of a guy named Jay Riemersma? He became a great Michigan tight end after a shoulder injury and was also very successful in the nfl.
I'm not sure what the percentage of players who switched positions after college who succeed in the nfl is. Off the top of my head, Kordell Stewart and Antwan Randle-El are a couple more that did well. And I've heard many former players and coaches say they think Tim Tebow and Cam Newton are good enough athletes to succeed at different positions if they don't work out as QB's.
Why not TP too? He's tall and fast. He wasn't the best QB in college and I doubt he will be a good nfl qb.. In my non-expert opinion, I think TP would be better off in the long run if he did switch positions to wr or even tight end.
August 22nd, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
Hines ward was also a college QB who became a near-HOF WR in the pros. So it does happen. I honestly thing Pryor will be decent in the pros as an athlete. Hate to say wildcat offense as well, but he is faster than the Pat Whites/Brad Smiths of the world and quite a bit bigger. I don't think he'll ever be a real QB in the NFL, but guys with his physical skillsets don't come by very often, and it makes sense a team took a chance. Of course, the fact it was the dysfunctional Raiders makes it even better.
August 22nd, 2011 at 5:16 PM ^
Hines Ward played WR, RB, and QB at UGA. He was a regular starter at QB his soph season, but was primarily a WR his frosh, jr and sr seasons, with some time spent at tailback his last 2 seasons. WR was not a new position for Ward when he got to the NFL.
Matt Jones, the QB from Arkansas, on the other hand, would be a much better analogue. He flamed out after 3-4 seasons.

Pre-draft
At the NFL Combine, Jones, measured in at 6' 6" tall, weighed 237 pounds and recorded scores during the tests that showed speed and explosive ability that had not been seen before in a player of his size. These scores earned him the nickname "The Freak" from the coaches and athletes in attendance. These scores included being timed between 4.37 and 4.40 seconds in the 40-yard dash, a 39.5" vertical jump, and a 10' 10" broad jump...
Jacksonville Jaguars
Jones, a college quarterback, was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a wide receiver in the first round (21st overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. This was a move that surprised some draft experts Arrests
On July 10, 2008 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Jones was arrested at gunpoint and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance...
On March 9, 2009 in Washington County, Jones was arrested again...
August 22nd, 2011 at 4:05 PM ^
He's just following in that great Raiders tradition of being a problem player taken a good 2-3 rounds before anyone else would have taken him.

I used to be a Raiders fan but thats out the door now. What do I do with my Bo Jackson throwback jersey now????
August 22nd, 2011 at 2:18 PM ^
I grew up in LA and a Raiders fan. My attachment to the team dropped quickly after Gruden left and Al Davis became even crazier than he already was. This is probably the last straw--my ever more tenuous Raiders attachment is now on life support with very little chance of recovery.
August 22nd, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
I grew up in Michigan and I have always been a Lions fan as well as a Raiders fan. At least now I can root for the Lions without being heckled mercilessly.
August 22nd, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
has there been a finer pairing of player and team. Without Russell to laugh at any more, the Raiders really did need to pick up someone new who is guaranteed not to live up to his "measurables," I think they have their man!

You mean the organization that thought JaMarcus Russell was a good idea is now gonna try out someone even more selfish and stupid? O RLY??
