We lived in the midwest for 25+ years and have been in Atlanta for ~ 15. We really like it here for a few reasons but I'll try and wrap them around your structure
Weather – what's it like where you are? mild and short winters. Spring starts in February and Thanksgiving is usually in the 50's. It is also not unheard of to get 60/70 degree weather here and there in Dec/Jan but it can get cold. The city can't really deal with ice/snow so that's why the whole city shuts down for like 3 days when you get an ice storm in which happens in a more nasty fashion maybe once every 5 years
City vibes – what's the atmosphere like in these places? Like most metro areas Atlanta is massive and spread out so you kind of have to localize it based on where you are. But - it's a big, diverse city with a lot to do
Recommended suburbs or towns – any suggestions? Depends on what you are looking for - there are a lot of very attractive options in town; there is Decatur which is maybe a bit more bohemian; and then you tend to head north into places around Perimeter or into Marietta/Alpharetta/Roswell/Johns Creek or you can move to an even further ring in places like Cumming/Forsyth/Lake Lanier/Buford which is getting into some of the lakes. Metro Detroit has phenomenal lake living - Atlanta has a much smaller version of that but also has horse farm type places
Other things to consider – anything important that we might be overlooking? 3 major universities in the city (GT, GSU, Emory) with Athens relatively close by; great medical centers; world's busiest airport so you can sort of get anywhere conveniently; about 5 hours from the Atlantic and the Gulf and Blue Ridge area of NC and into Mammoth Caves KY. Final Fours and World Cup and NCAA Title Games and Super Bowls come to ATL pretty frequently because the visitor/convention group is very good at making things like that happen. Atlanta also has a really diverse business community in terms of the industries represented by major employers (i.e. compare industries for Coke, Home Depot, UPS, Pulte, Chick-Fil-A, NCR, Delta, Southern Company, Newell, Genuine Parts, Porsche NA, Mercedes Benz NA, Georgia Pacific, Equifax, Global Payments, IHG, Cox Auto/Cox Communications, Mohawk Industries, Graphic Packaging, Arby's, MailChimp, RaceTrac etc.)
Current gripes or concerns – what should we keep an eye out for now and in the future? Traffic sucks and so does the pollen. Prices are going up because inflation and high interest rates are a problem everywhere.
I haven't been to that many parks but have been to Comerica Park a fair amount and Truist even more - and I think it is a pretty nice place to see a ball game. I'd also say that the times I have been the logistics around parking and crowd movement were pretty good especially considering how consistently sucky Atlanta's traffic always is.
My specific variant is the person who pulls out in front of me from a side street with no apparent ability to calculate physics, effectively cutting me off because I’m going 40 or 45 and they’re starting from a stand still. And when I look in my rear view mirror there’s no one behind me; so if they had just waited 10 seconds they’d have had all day to accelerate from 0-40.
Kudo's for your humility Kewaga - you also get at one issue we're all grappling with. When journalism is about advancing a specific narrative instead of about an honest pursuit of truth then the discourse naturally becomes more divisive and uninformed.
It's always been true that the reader of news needed to have a skeptical eye on the priors of the writer/media source. But that is magnified 100x in our world today because we all have the attention span of gnats, and the various outlets use algorithms/approaches specifically designed to reinforce whatever bias you might have and to grab "clicks". "Journalism" is now mostly a business designed to get clicks/generate ad revenue and/or act as propaganda for a range of political perspectives.
and maybe President Ono is also a bit exhausted responding to reactions from people who haven't gathered all the facts and were therefore unable to cohesively synthesize their position but instead acted rashly from that imperfect understanding?
when he had his radio show in Detroit I called in and won some contest (I think it was name a song that Denny didn’t know) and got an autographed 31-8 Denny McClain baseball. I came across that very ball today for the first time in years - interesting timing on this thread.
I think the idea of going out of our way to annoy another fan base isn't worth the effort.
At best I'd contemplate wearing the National Champions t-shirt with all the game scores on the back - and when the random Sparty heckles you for your team not being good at the basketballs I'd smile and say (with sincerity and acceptable enthusiasm) "you've got that right - horrible basketball season for us. But good luck to your team in the tournament!"
The good sportsmanship and kindness will likely be the most frustrating move you can make.
I was at that game - I think Joe M got in because McCaffrey had been brutally bludgeoned in the head. I turned to the Wisconsin people next to me and I said something like "this is Joe Milton, he has a cannon for an arm"
Then Milton threw that interception and I said "but it was a nice tight spiral".....
When UM played OSU in 2003 I remember the crowd starting an impromptu “Perry! Perry!” Chant. We won by 14 but it felt different in the stands and Chris Perry left it all on the field that game.

Congrats to her (and to you!) and to all grads.
Brian Kelly pole dancing is NOT a left/right issue...it is a right/wrong issue. And it's clearly wrong.

Doyel using a hammer to smash his balls for all the world to see was a uniquely evocative image....well done!
It's funny that his DVD collection includes Joe Dirt and lot of Rockford Files.
Who else thought "well if I lived in LA I could just swing by to say 'hi' sometime"?
Yes.

Bronny James should go to OSU
seems fitting on many levels
some are no more than mere chicken scratch
Are they really saying Calipari is going to fly the coop?
the part where he switches the ball to his right hand and then casts aside #15 at the 10 yard line like a chew toy is just magnificent!

It's good to see Mays in Blue
I thought it was cool that the subtext under the headline spelled out "happy April fools"
Hopefully a repeat of the North Dakota game
My mistake - it does indeed say 31-6
when he had his…
Good story!

John Wooden
Johnny Orr
John Wooden
if he had a bloodhound named Blue he could have a basketball podcast called "Mays & Blue"
or maybe they'll top all the political spam texts I've been getting - just crazy and annoying - we need a national "do not text" list....
The story/setting for both Vicksburg and Chattanooga/Lookout Mtn are very memorable
or in the inverse of the Michael Jordan scenario they can make Ohtani go play in the NBA G League
He seems like a PR savant

Sounds like OSU fantasy porn clickbait.
Especially if your team lays an egg like Miami and TAMU have done lately.
Yes. He’s intelligent and even minded so of course he loves Michigan. :-)
I value his honesty and informed perspective.
how did you get this video embed to work? asking for a friend
I noticed this too - the normal embed string doesn't work either

The “Vehicular Fellatio” episode is very very funny.
I do believe in miracles - but I don’t believe one will happen in this game.
NNTM? I hope he excels!
are we still talking about the video from the OP or has this morphed into metaphorical territory?
wonder if he ever went to the ATM machine
maybe BET or STALIONS
to be fair.......who moves TO Ohio from someplace else?
