Had to look RAS, relative Athletic score up: As the Combine approaches, you will start hearing more about Relative Athletic Score (or RAS for short). The brainchild of Kent Lee Platte, RAS is a way of measuring a player’s athletic testing to their size as well as historically. We had Kent on “The Draft Countdown” Podcast this past week and got some insight on RAS and how it can be used to judge prospect’s athleticism. Each prospect is given a score from 0 to 10 based on how their RAS matches up to those of the same position throughout history. A perfect 10 is top of the group and the best athlete ever to work out at that position while a 0 would be the worst. The website color codes the grades by Green, Yellow, and Red to give a clear indication of where players stand. That perfect 10 is rare, but usually means great things for a player.
i'd love to know what happened to the DE (DT? not enough to know where he came from) that simply laid there n his back with his hand up as barry went away from him, then came back and ran past him as he continued to lay on his back, not doing much of anything....
All of our kids, and yes, that does most definitely include the two daughters, have learned at least the basics of butchering, and the boys even more than that. Somewhere I have pictures of my girls carving and skinning cattle. The most beautiful, sweet, pretty darn athletic, farm girls you ever saw, but I might be a tad biased

biggest dude i ever played with was 6' 10", 390, and very mobile for a guy that size. unfortunately (and in violation of the laws of the universe) he hadn't played much football until he was with us. he was solid, but man, if he'd have picked the game up as a youngin', katie bar the door.

certainly that's true and i recognize that. i was asking more of a macro-question about that. in general is it a 'steal' to get, say, the # 32 player in the #58 pick, or is it because the #32 guy has some issues. anecdotally, anything can be a legit explanation, but the generalization and how strong the correlation is, that's my question.
secret look at the notes: ohio only had one player taken in the first round, just like michigan. then we had two more taken, waaaayyy more than ohio. so there, ohio.
question: trying not to read too much into the 'overall rank' of the various players, but would it be a fair conclusion that if a player is taken way off of his rank, for instance a texas receiver ranked 28 was just taken at 52, is there some issue of either character or injury there? maybe one at a time, not too much, but overall, would be curious if there is some correlation between the rankings and guys taken way high or way low in relation to the rankings.

sure. boating, skeet, hiking, all good. they'll have to pass rigorous physical testing - 40 yd dash, 3-cone drill, 3 pt shooting, vertical, endurance running, wrestling, riflery, etc. after that, the theological exam is pretty detailed, too.
