How I see it we can beat anyone on our schedule using our basic offense, but the players will get bored so they add new plays to keep practice fresh and to keep the players mentally getting better each week.
I also think Asisi screws this up. He needs to sell that he is the lead blocker better. If the linebackers keys are full back to play side gap=fill gap then both linebackers should be filling the gaps in front of them. The backer forcing the tackle doesn't even step to the gap Assisi is supposed to be attacking and just scrapes and fills. I still believe Smith's read goes which side the centers ass is pointing followed by your lead blocker.
To my untrained eye it looks like smith might be reading how Cole handles the nose. He has his ass in the hole, also Poggi has his ass in the hole, the defenders are able close it and force smith to rage.
I'm on your side of this Magnus, in concerns of coaches need time away from football as much as students need time away from football. While I think it's stupid for the NCAA to ban camps. Eventually I think Harbaugh is going to burn out his coaching staffs and we are going to loose very highly qualified coaches because it's just to much time away from their family. I grew up around coach's family's from the university of Toledo and they never saw their Dad , so I can only imagine what it would be like on Harbaugh's staff let alone one of his own kids.
I wonder if that was just a spring game thing or will they roll that out when the season starts. They were subbing him with Poggi and trying to get the defense confused about which number seven was in and worked pretty good on the TD play.
I agree that 1 or 2 guys a year is "normal" but Brian is guessing like 6 or 7 guys in the next recruiting cycle. To me that seems high. Also the team is full of upperclassmen starting, so younger guys see starting spots are gonna open up in the future and will be less likely to transfer.
I don't see Gary starting, unless injuries force him to like Mone had to a couple years ago. My starting dline runs Worm, Glasgow, Hurst, Taco. But honestly it doesn't matter because guys rotate so much.
His job shouldn't be just to win football games though. Michigan football has always been about winning the right way, and not honoring guys that you recruited and that committed to play for you, is not winning the right way. Also it looks bad to the high school coaches that you just shat on their players and they will probably steer future players to other schools that honored their scholarships.
Imo... Recruiting has more to do with ties to the different regions... Hoke was only 2 years removed from mainly recruiting the Midwest at ball state.... RR was recruiting fla before he got to Michigan. Harbaugh at Stanford recruited Texas and fla well so that's where he started first.
Maybe urban was thinking we have been in the lead this entire game, zeke was in the hospital for three days prior to this game, by the way the weather is possible the worst urban at osu has ever played in... Let's ride our defense that has all kinds of talent, get through this game and be healthy for the game everyone is waiting for.
So just about everything to do with special teams going into this year was a question mark, and before the bowl game this board was freaking out about Blake's injury. But both situations turned out way better than expected, and this is your comment. Wow I hope this was sarcasm that I am missing.
If our goal as a program is to compete for a national tittle ever 4 years shouldn't we keep this strategy? Having 2 monster classes in a row would help us out a ton when they are upperclassmen.
If this is what people want then the schools should only fire coaching staffs when their contracts are up too. But that won't happen because fans demand change when the team isn't performing up to their standards.
So they ran the ball up the middle the whole game. How do u get we need more athleticism? On offense our athletic guys out played OSU's athletic guys. We lost the game on the offensive and defensive lines, not on being out "athleticed".
QB are not supposed to get hit when they slide. The refs imo are letting them get hit way to much. Diving head first allows the defender to hit a QB as hard as they can, and can cause other type of injuries.
My rooting interest goes PAC 12- USC winning out, Utah looses to UCLA, Stanford beats ND but looses to USC. This isn't very far fetched to happen and would keep the PAC 12 out of the playoff, and possibly knock out ND.
ACC- Clemson winning out. 1 playoff spot.
SEC- Bama winning out. 2 playoff spot. I'd like to see LSU loose again just to be sure there are no 2 sec teams in the playoff.
Big 12- Oklahoma State wins out. Giving 2 losses to Oklahoma, and Baylor will have a loss. Oklahoma beating Baylor and TCU. At this point Baylor TCU and Oklahoma will all have 2 losses. OSU gets the third playoff spot.
Big Ten- obvious Michigan 4th spot.
In this scenario I think Michigan has a very good shot at the playoffs, and I know a lot has to fall right, but I think it could happen.
