Was hoping for a wing. We now have this guy, TWill, Cheddar, Yo-Yo and Glenn as power forwards. Kind of a head scratcher unless we are sure Kante isn’t coming and one of the other guys is trending to the portal.
I’d be looking for experience. I don’t consider Nimari an experienced addition as Dug has played more total career minutes in just one season. I like Jamison Battle but he’s trending to Indiana. I’d go for Shedrick the UVA center and Tamar Bates from IU as a 3-D Chaundee light type. At wing I’d be fine with Ledlum from Harvard, Knecht as you mentioned and Jordan Wright from Vandy. While none of these are home runs I think gambling on the former 5 stars isn’t worth it in todays game. Just get some players who are solid defenders and can get a bucket at every position. Hope that Khayat can fill that 4 spot.
They mentioned that Baker had applied for a waiver for a 6th year since Duke burned his redshirt during his freshman year and played 18 minutes. Anyone know if he plans to stick around if granted the waiver? I wouldn’t mind at all if he came back. Reed has mentioned how much Baker has helped him adjust to the college game so he provides some good leadership too.
Khayat was in a boot a few weeks ago so think his delay in getting on the floor had more to do with that. He must be performing/improving in practice to warrant the time. His shot looked smooth but he was lost on the defensive end. This team is still looking for someone other than Baker and Reed to provide some punch off the bench so might as well see what he can do. Jace, Tschetter and Barnes have been given their chances.
I think it’s time to send a message. Not sure what is going on in Hunters life but he’s not focused on playing basketball. I’d bench the starters, except for Dug, to start the Maryland game. Don’t want to punish Kobe but at this point he’s guilty by association. Roll out Tarris, Tschetter, Dug, Baker and Barnes against Maryland and have Khayat first off the bench. If we are going to struggle offensively at least we can do so hustling and playing with some motivation. That, to me, would be a better product to watch on the floor than what we are currently given.
Agree with a lot of these points. Johns has had more layups blocked in the first three games then any other player I can remember. Most of these blocked shots are likely 50/50 foul calls but he doesn’t get the benefit of the whistle because his body language and hesitation to go strong play to the defensive players favor. Jones has fouled out of 2 of the first 3 games. Houstan needs to practice switching on the defensive end. He gave up 7 points because he was either late or just didn’t switch at all. I expect improvement from Jones and Houstan but feel Johns is what he is. More time for TWill, Diabate and Bufkin needed. Their upside far outweighs the alternative.
I’d recommend Ecco as well. I own three pair. One is four years old and they still look great. I would find a place to try them on because their sizing is a little weird.

There are a few mysteries that interest me, the DB Cooper story is a big one. Another more recent is the disappearance of the Malaysian Airlines 370. Others include unexplainable phenomena like the Tunguska event, the Pollock sisters and the incident at Dyatlov Pass.
I worked in Japan at a communications site run by the US government where we had a local Japanese contractor that rotated out every 60 days. The site was all US citizens/military and the 1 Japanese contractor. Just so happened the new contractor started on April 1st. This guy had never met anyone from the US before so through our translator we told him the universal sign for ‘good morning’ in the US is to flip us the middle finger. Next morning he comes into work and flips all of us off. Each person too with a little bow. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. Poor guy found out what it really meant and was mortified but took it in stride.
The two I remember best were also from my time in the military. The first we told a young airman we needed an exhaust sample from our site truck. We handed him a jar and he put it as close to the tailpipe as possible to collect the exhaust. I then drove him down to the motor pool and dropped him off. He walked inside and tried to give them his exhaust sample but they were laughing too hard. Another one we did was our medical appointments used to be scheduled by the squadron so they would call the NCOIC and put it on the calendar for us. One April 1st morning an airman had a Pap smear appointment listed on the calendar. We had to let him off the hook before he called the clinic to ask what he needed to bring.
Hope its Collins as that would mean PG duty is shored up. Think it’ll be Collins and Zeb on the floor starting just like Smith and Brooks with Bufkin as the guard off the bench. Houstan, Johns and Dickinson complete the starting rotation with Twill and Diabate coming off the bench. Not sure if we go much deeper unless Barnes plays his way into time. This team will be fun to watch!

Kessler played next to Sharpe at UNC as they rotated a two center/PF lineup with Bacot and Brooks. When the guards weren’t busy turning the ball over or throwing up garbage mid-range shots it worked but UNCs guard play couldn’t run a simple PnR for the life of them. Kessler would be a huge add, pun intended, and create some additional lineup flexibility.
I believe the intention was to hit Dickinson on the roll but they had sueing on Smith so when they rolled it wasn’t onto walker or Washington. Sueing held Dickinson up on the elbow for just a few seconds too long which didn’t allow him to establish position in the post quick enough. I think by the time any entry pass could have been made it was go time and Smith was left to fire. Really wish coaches would have seen the matchup and called a TO to try and reset the play but that’s a slippery slope because then you have the potential for them to steal the inbounds. I think we need to take the positives on this one. We had a chance to win without Livers and Franz fouling out early. Heck of a comeback those final minutes on a terrible shooting day. Free throws kept us in it. Let’s catch fire in the tourney!
Great write up! One thing I’ll remember from this game was Chaundee doing the most Chaundee thing. Believe it was late in the first half and Liddell was sitting below the scorers tables about to check in. Chaundee goes over to check in and just invades his personal space while waiting for a whistle. When the camera panned back Liddell had moved over a few inches. I laughed. He’s guarding people at the scorers table!
I was given anti-malaria pills when I shipped off to Iraq but only took a few. Nearly 18 years later I still vividly remember dreaming about having super powers but not enough money in my bank account to use them. After talking to others and realizing my dream was the least nightmarish I stopped taking them.
Congrats to the entire family! A former colleague of mine had his NLI framed in his office. He said it was the best decision of his life and set him on a path to a quality of life his family had never experienced.
