The kid was only playing because the walk-on who beat him out got hurt. 5 linemen will be drafted in the last 2 years with a lot of young talented bigs already getting playing time. OL recruiting and development is not one of Michigan’s problems.
Hansbrough averaged around 20 points per game for 4 years. Garza was only a scorer his final 2 years. UNC’s freshman big (number 11) is already a better NBA prospect.
Dax is not a difference maker at safety. He never high points the ball when going for an INT and takes horrible angles. He has elite speed and length and that could make him a shut down CB. We agree on Ross. He is lost when dropping into his zone on pass plays and lacks the speed to keep RB’s from getting the edge. It’s my opinion that the coaches are refusing to burn the redshirts of the freshman LB’s on a lost season.
Michigan should return 37 out of 44 on the two deep depth charts on both sides of the ball. Sprinkle some freshman in there and Michigan football will have a bounce back season regardless of who is coaching.
Just looking at the 2 deep on offense, Michigan only loses 3 RS seniors and Mayfield out of a possible 22. On defense they only lose 3 due to expiring eligibility on the 2 deep. That comes out to 37 out of 44 possibly returning. Throw in the 2021 recruits and hopefully a new defensive coordinator and you could see a Northwestern type turnaround but with better athletes.
I would love a QB with Milton’s measurables but I would rather one with the intangibles that McNamara has shown in the last two games. Hopefully it’s not another mirage.
Minnesota lost it’s top 1,000 yard receiver and running back. On defense they have to replace 6 starters! 5 out of the top 6 tacklers including their defensive MVP are gone. I like Michigan’s chances despite the question marks on offense and at 1 DB spot.
As a Michigan and Chicago Bear’s fan, I am forced to watch identical QB play for both teams. Patterson is a college version of Trubisky. Fairly athletic, poor decision makers, inability to read defenses, and very inaccurate on deep balls.
I have no problem with Don Brown’s defense or his play calling. His personnel is a different story. If Michigan is going to play man with a safety against a slot receiver, I would prefer it to be Daxton Hill.
On 25 combined carries Turner, Haskins, and Charbonnet all averaged 4.4 yards or more per carry. Those are solid numbers that I will take in every remaining game.
No, the only teams that scare me are the ones with elite spread offenses. You know, the ones that can run slants and crossing routes with receivers that run sub 4.4 second 40s.
Speaking only on game 1 of this years series. Harden was fouled on 3 possibly 4 three pointers but not on his final attempt. Chris Paul also was not fouled on his one in question because he kicked his legs out drastically. That being said, the Rockets should have taken at least 9 more free throws that would have resulted in less technical fouls called against them.

Garza reminds me of a less athletic Tyler Hansbrough. The NBA won’t be kind to him.

The receivers reactions to Milton’s last two throws show that he is solely responsible for his own failures.
A great DC would adjust his scheme to fit his personnel. If you lack D Linemen, switch to a 3-4 with true linebackers that are not undersized vipers.
Now on D, let’s not give a 12 yard cushion to the slot receiver.
