Why would he leave a…

Why would he leave a basketball blue blood for a football school?

Coaches go places because it…

Coaches go places because it’s good for themselves. If it happens to also benefit an institution they care about, terrific. Otherwise, it’s all self interest.

I can watch that every…

I can watch that every single day for eternity and never get tired of it.

Good shit.

This is so much fun. I’m so happy for this team, all the fans, everybody here.

Congratulations, Brian. Thank you for all you’ve done to give us a home.

MICHIGAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

Fire. Jay. Harbaugh.

Fire. Jay. Harbaugh.

It was a total Ohio homer…

It was a total Ohio homer broadcast all the way. Even in the postgame they spent an inordinate amount of time talking about what Ohio needs to do to get back on top rather than celebrating Michigan and discussing B1G and National championship potential. Really hard to listen to that crap and watch Urban get respect generally reserved for decent human beings.

I’m concerned about the run…

I’m concerned about the run defense next week. Penn St. regularly picked up good yardage on first down, and if Henderson gets going and Ohio stays on schedule we could be in for a world of hurt if safeties have to come up to shut down the run.

Gotta be another coach in…

Gotta be another coach in-the-know. That’s still going to come out in the NCAA investigation, but this settlement preserves this year. B1G could have banned UM from the conference championship game, which effectively would end a run to the natty.

This is the only conclusion…

This is the only conclusion I can draw, too. He’s gone.

It’s true, and the only…

It’s true, and the only thing I can think of right now is that Harbaugh just wants to coach this team in the playoffs and then he’s gone.

BREAKING: UM and Harbaugh…

BREAKING: UM and Harbaugh have accepted the punishment in exchange for a cease of the B1G investigation. Feels like a rollover, but that doesn’t jive with all the positioning to this point.

The March to the Sea starts…

The March to the Sea starts today. Scorched earth all the way.

GO BLUE!

I've been out of the…

I've been out of the practice for a decade, but reading this really gets the old juices flowing. The attorneys writing that definitely haven't slept for the last few days, and I'm sure they were crafting it right up until the minute they sent it over.

5/5 would read again.

As I watched the game I had…

As I watched the game I had a hard time seeing Dickenson as a future NBA player. He’s more suited for a European or Asian league, and would probably be better off just getting a graduate degree and moving on from basketball.

Nope. Edwards is a dude, and…

Nope. Edwards is a dude, and next year we'll be banging the Heisman drum for him. Playoffs could be an incredible coming out party for him on a national stage.

Said the same thing about…

Said the same thing about the big plays to my  family. Normally that’s us getting hammered like that. Not today, holmes.

Suspend him for the season…

Suspend him for the season and revisit it in the off season when emotions have cooled and introspection has had a chance to take hold. Juwan is a good person and a valuable part of our community, and the school ought to give him space to work through this. We have no idea what the full picture is here in terms of what’s fueling coach’s behavior.

Using the clip on ESPN, you…

Using the clip on ESPN, you can see that Juwan didn’t even look at Gard initially and was just trying to get out of there. Gard forced the issue.

Can’t really form a good…

Can’t really form a good conclusion until I hear more about the goings on in that handshake line. Violence is never the answer, but mitigating factors are a thing and in this case they may help to explain why Juwan lost control.

The university should immediately suspend him pending further investigation, with no further comment on the situation until the investigation is complete.

Georgia was unimpressive…

Georgia was unimpressive yesterday across the board. They’ll be refocused on 12/31 and we’re going to get their best. If this wasn’t the playoff - if this was the Outback Bowl - I’d say Georgia by 14. But Michigan having shown what we’re made of the last few weeks, and having climbed the mountain this far, there’s no team we can’t beat. I really like our chances.

LFG BLUE!

So happy for the players and…

So happy for the players and coaches and all of the fans who’ve waited so long for this. What a great year.

LET’S GO BLUE!

He compared the loss the MSU…

He compared the loss the MSU to a typical Lionesque loss. He did not compare one team to the other.

Calm down. The article…

Calm down. The article compares this Wolverines loss to the the Lions’ types of losses. It does not say the program is Lionesque. To a lot of eyes, this loss was Lionesque.

That’s the thing. We’ve…

That’s the thing. We’ve spent 7 years running it up the gut, and that’s the time we decide to change it up? If ever there was a time to keep it conservative it was in that series at that time with JJ in after already fumbling once.

I almost puked when I saw…

I almost puked when I saw the footage of the D taking a squad selfie to celebrate the INT in the first quarter. How much do they care about that picture now?

The 3rd and 3 call with 1:52…

The 3rd and 3 call with 1:52 was totally baffling. I can’t for the life of me figure out why the plan wasn’t two handoffs in a row to get the first and keep the drive alive. Get the first down, then take a shot.

They shouldn’t have called…

They shouldn’t have called the read option right away because he literally dropped the ball on his first fumble without any kind of provocation. The defender hit him low and he swung out his arm and dropped the ball. Now you’ve brought the young kid  back into the game in a crucial situation - give him a couple of freebies to get his feet back under him and regain some confidence, or maybe just manage the game until Cade is back. If Cade remains out, you can look to open it up. I don’t think that’s a laughable take.

On his first fumble he just…

On his first fumble he just dropped it. No one hit him anywhere near the ball. The defender hit him low and he flat out lost the ball. How can you put him back out in this game at that time and ask him to make that play right away?  At least let him get a couple of easy plays in before you go back to the read option with the higher level of fumble risk.

Even so, you can’t call a…

Even so, you can’t call a read option there. He has to handoff or have a designed throw. Coaching negligence.

My entire family - me, tween…

My entire family - me, tween, young teen, and wife - all collectively said “what the fuck?!” when we saw JJ back in the game.  Wrong time, wrong place, all on the coach.

Those who stay will be…

Those who stay will be deflated.

Harbaugh deserves every…

Harbaugh deserves every ration of shit everyone gives him. Beat a fucking rival, man. He owes the team an apology for his level of suck in this game.

My 13 year old son and I…

My 13 year old son and I were talking about ceilings and upsides and the Cade/JJ situation. I was explaining that tradeoffs between the two players. Then JJ made a couple of good option reads and then the scramble and throw across the field, and my son said, “Yeah, I totally get it. The young guy needs to play for this team to be at it’s best.”

Why isn’t McCarthy getting…

Why isn’t McCarthy getting every single snap now? I don’t understand the decision to platoon the two QBs right now.

A million times this…

Totally reactive to what Gattis thought Rutgers was doing rather than dictating play with superior talent and *ahem* coaching. It’s going to be stomp city at Wiscy.

This team is lost. I feel…

This team is lost. I feel bad for the players that they have to endure this coaching staff that continually underprepares them. No wonder McCaffrey is enrolled in school but doesn't want to play.

Joe Milton is not a good…

Joe Milton is not a good quarterback.

How does anyone on the…

How does anyone on the coaching staff think Milton is the better QB?

Dude, I guarantee most of us…

Dude, I guarantee most of us could put together something pretty tasty and just as easy to cook with the same money Ohio chef put into that slop bin. It’s not about the humble nature of the food. It’s about the fact that it was unnecessarily disgusting and relatively lacking in overall nutrition.

I hardly ever watch hockey…

I hardly ever watch hockey. That was a really good read that makes me want to watch more of it.

I work from home and have…

I work from home and have the luxury of watching all the talking sports heads discuss this stuff all day, and I didn't hear a single person say anything other than, "John Beilein is a good man who made a mistake." I'm also a liberal MSNBC watcher, and this story got almost zero coverage there. So it's not apparent to me at all that liberals "don't get it" or that there's anything else at play here other than Beilein made a mistake for which he was very contrite. The only reason this is really a story is because the Cavs are terrible and when first year coaches struggle every wrong move they make is a potential reason for firing. If the Cavs were a winning team and this happened after a single losing game, this would be a total non-story.

The problem isn't liberals in bubbles. It's everyone in bubbles.

We returned 8 starters on…

We returned 8 starters on offense, including 4 of 5 on the OL and a 5 star QB recruit in his second year with the QB whisperer. We added a 5 star at RB and added depth to an already stout (or at least should be) receiving corp. So please explain how this should be a rebuilding year. I get that Michigan faces "transition costs" that no other programs seem to face when they change OCs, but this much talent on offense ought to be able to install the few extra wrinkles Gattis has thrown in. There just isn't anything revolutionary about what the O is doing this year. So, to sum up, "this should've been a rebulidling year" is horseshit.

Jim Harbaugh is a good coach…

Jim Harbaugh is a good coach like Kirk Ferentz is a good coach. People need to get used to that.

Obviously happy to get the…

Obviously happy to get the win. And Shea looked pretty good and didn't get pounded, so that was nice. But it was against Rutgers. I remain really concerned about his inability to make decisions and get the ball out quickly. There were quite a few times, particularly early in the game, where he had trouble letting the ball fly. I thought he got bailed out by the fact that it was Rutgers and by the superiority of our athletes. Against stouter defenses and better athletes he's going to get crushed.

I'm not an Xs and Os guy, but I am surprised we don't use more one and two step drop bubble screen type plays. I thought that would be a big component of #speedinspace, and would really help out Shea who appears to be missing elite-level decision making skills. Maybe I missed them, but I can't recall any of those kind of quick throw plays in this game or any of the previous ones.
