Wings Caps Tonight with 2nd Wild Card Spot on the Line
It's been 8 long years since the Wings made the playoffs in 2016. LCA has never seen the intensity of playoff hockey but it will be the closest to it tonight when the Wings host the Caps with the 2nd Wild Card spot in the East up for grabs.
Vegas likes the Wings at -150 putting the Caps at +125.
The excitement around here (Detroit area) is palpable. #LGRW!!!
Pizza pizza
You know your company did something wrong when the slogan you used 20 years and 10 advertising campaigns ago is still the one people remember.
Or did something really right?
It’s like that Hersheys ad (the one with the musical chimes and the jumping chocolate kisses) that has been playing seemingly EVERY Christmas season since Jesus himself was born.
If it works and if it sticks … keep at it.
Huge week for Wings! In addition to Caps tonight, they play the Pens on Thursday. Pens are tied with us at 84 points, though we have a game in hand. Win the next two, and playoffs chances are looking pretty darn good. LGRW!
LGRW!!!
No need to worry about anything if they just win. Just. Win. ✌️
The barn better be packed and rowdy tonight!
LGRW!!!
I'll be watching tonight! LGRW!!
The next two games need to be regulation wins. That helps solidify Detroit's chances at the playoffs. There's other important games tonight as well:
Montreal vs Philly, Toronto vs New Jersey, New York Rangers vs New York Islanders, and Dallas vs Buffalo.
If the latter team in each matchup loses then Detroit all but locks up the wildcard spot, with the only real playoff race of importance in the East being the 3rd seed in the Metro division.
Love when the games aren't on Bally!
Nest season it's gonna be Amazon Prime.
I watched a little bit of the Leafs-Pens game last night on ESPN+...brutal.
Probably the biggest game of the year so far. Wings need to learn from last year and understand that intensity is the key. On the plus side, it seems like they took at least the physicality to heart against Buffalo.
Intensity and tighten up the defense. That's the recipe for a win.
Been too damn long since I saw the Winged Wheels in a playiff game - it is time, dammit!
Give the Caps hell, Detroit!
win tonight and thursday and we are almost certainly 'in'.
lose either tonight or thursday and we are almost certainly 'out'.
Not so sure 88 is gonna do it. They may need more like 90-92.
91 is always the magic number
He was so good. I was there the night he scored 5 goals. it was against the caps, too. He was the best skater in NHL. And he was tough as nails. Not a fighter, but absolutely unafraid.
EDIT: found a link for the 5 goal game. 2 1/2 minutes. the passing is other-worldly. no wonder we won the cup
Great link, thanks for posting.
Those were some great years to be a hockey fan.
So effortless
I’ll be there. I was there vs Buffalo so I’m hoping for more of the same. They let Lyon bail them out too much, though. Got to play better.
Kinda a - have to get a RW - game.
Thursday gonna feel the same.
A little concerned that 3 of our last 5 games for the Wings are on the road, with 2 of them being against the Pens and the Leafs. The other is the Habs.
The Pens have 3 of their last 4 at home (Wings, B's, Preds and Isles).
The Isles have 3 of their last 5 at home (Rangers, Habs, Rangers, Devils, Pens)
The Caps won't matter since they're gonna lose tonight and be out of it.
The Sabers are pretty much already done.
Tigers score 3 in the 9th so far against one of baseball's best closers and take the lead 4-3 over the Pirates. Strange series. stranger game going on right now. This is why I don't bet on sports...Now 5-3.
Wings vs. Caps tonight which is the most important game in 8 years.
Wings vs. Pens on Thursday will likely trump it as the most important game in 8 years.
Wings vs. Maple Leafs will then become the most important game in 8 years.
And we will finish off the season 1 week from tonight with the back half of the most important Home and Home series for the Red Wings in 8 years.
Thursday game against BC trumps these games
LFGRW!!!!
LGRW
I'm tired of watching playoff hockey without Detroit in it.
