Shea Patterson Undefeated at Home in his Michigan Career

Saw this when I watched the football in 60 on BTN. Thought this was very impressive and gave me hope for that last game in 2 weeks.(admittedly our performance against Sparty doesn't hurt).

I found it funny how they kept bringing up that Harbaugh hadn't beat MSU at home, like there was a reason for it and not just dumb luck that those are the two games we lost.

If it's the other way, it's worth stating, because the environment it tougher. But when it's at home and against every other team you do better at home, I don't see the reason to mention it.

As somebody that periodically uses statistics, it drives me crazy how sports commentators seem to find meaningless trends out of thin air.  Everybody’s favorite-“Harbaugh never stays longer than four years at a job”.  He always took a promotion, so that “stat” is just pure bullshit.  Losing to MSU at home was just a random event both times, not a trend.

What I've noticed is that every talking head has some negative stat in reference to Harbaugh ready off the top of their head at a moments notice. They cant tell you who was in the CFP the last few years but they can tell you Harbaughs (insert stat here) for the last umpteenth years.

I've always thought it was the new paint scheme in the Michigan endzones.  We have not lost a home game since those endzones were painted.

EDIT:  Also, the stat shown during the game that blew me away:  Harbaugh was 0-6 vs OSU and MSU at home but something like 27-0 vs. everyone else?  Amazing stat.

Well between this guy and Mr "Hey how come we havent fumbled lately" we are sure are setting the record for most we dont believe in jinx's posts in one day.

Personally I think I'm going to post "After we beat OSU this year will do we have a shot at the final four being a two loss team" a bit later on today.

that is interesting.... i've been saying we will beat OSU.... imagine him going out like that, perfect at home....

but what dings is his road record... this is a mental thing he needs to overcome.

To be fair, his road losses include his first game in the program where the defense shat the bed early, the OSU game where the defense gave up 62 points, the Wisconsin game where both sides of the ball shat the bed and Patterson was pulled, and PSU where Don Brown once again figured one of his slowest defensive players could cover Penn State's most dangerous target and Ronnie Bell dropped a pass that would have otherwise made us commend Patterson for the comeback.

I've been quite critical of Patterson for his flaws and shortcomings, but Saturday was fun to watch and made us forget for at least one more week his earlier struggles with reading defenses and throwing receivers open. Hopefully the light went on and stays on for a couple more weeks.

Patterson was greatly aided by MSU’s inability to cover anything. It was pitch and catch out there on Saturday.

Things were definitely clicking but to ignore the ineptitude of our opponents is something we do at our own peril. Plus, it’s fun to point out just how crappy little bro has become.

Never thought I’d say this but IU will be a good test. They play some solid pass D. If we go into IU and put up yards and points it will be against a better D than Sparty.

Outside of Saturday, he hasn’t necessarily been better in big games at home vs big games away. It’s his surrounding cast that generally much better at home at makes him look better, while being significantly worse on the road, making him look bad

My 10 year old is now 13-0 in The Big House with his uncle's tickets.  A lot of begging/chore doing/ whatever is in order over the next 11 days if he wants to get on the bus for the trip up versus the Buckeyes...

I've shit on Shea here and there this year and he's deserved it but he played a great game on Saturday. He does that again in 12 days and ends his Michigan career undefeated at home... he goes down as a hero!

I didn't say he hasn't at any step of the way, but his performance deserved to be shit on, at times. I'm not alone here in saying that "he wasn't the guy" or that "I thought Dylan would have been a better choice" at times and I'm glad I was wrong. Again though, those thoughts were expressed here and here alone.

I think H Left Nut's dumbassery deserves to be shit on.  At times.  I'm not alone in saying that "Michigan fandom would be better off without people like him."

I'm only expressing this here and here alone, though.  In a public forum that reaches -- I don't know, 1000 people?  1000's of people?  Possibly including football players?  Maybe some football players' parents and friends? -- instead of in a bar where three people can hear my sloppy, ill-mannered rants, or in my living room to be overheard by my closest companions (the cat and the potted fern).

Yep, I feel good about myself, having this moral code, this upstanding and well-reasoned moral code.
