They took into account rematches last year. If they don't do it again it's a clear signal to SEC bias
December 4th, 2022 at 12:22 PM ^
I’ve asked this before and asking again. Can someone please tell me the difference between the selection committee and ice skating or diving judges?
December 4th, 2022 at 12:52 PM ^
They didn't take rematches into account last year and didn't this year.
They just put the top 4 teams in order.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:09 PM ^
I don't like how they open to pushing a rematch.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:09 PM ^
I forgot ESPN milks this for everything it’s worth before actually announcing the top 4.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:09 PM ^
Jesse Palmer gave sound reasoning to keep TCU at three. No one disagreeing. I like this.
The SEC lackey and former Georgia Bulldog David Pollack is the only one clearly hoping for the rematch.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:17 PM ^
David Pollack played too much football without a helmet.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:18 PM ^
You would think he's a Sparty with his non stop hating of Michigan over the years.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:28 PM ^
He screamed bloody murder when Michigan was ranked ahead of MSU last year after MSU lost to Purdue
December 4th, 2022 at 12:25 PM ^
I have never heard him say anything remotely intelligent.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:35 PM ^
Yeah he has zero insights, but has that blank cornball persona that plays well in the south. See also: Craig James

Jenkins, Okie and Barrett acting the fool in the background -- and I'm here for it!
December 4th, 2022 at 12:22 PM ^
The boys are having fun out there. So am I.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:11 PM ^
Is this going to be like the basketball selection show…where they just have people talk about the teams for two hours before actually revealing anything? Get on with it!!!!
December 4th, 2022 at 12:11 PM ^
Spoilers are out there.....
Fuck Ohio State
December 4th, 2022 at 12:11 PM ^
Why is anyone in Tuscaloosa? If anyone had the season Alabama had but they weren't Alabama, no one would even mention them in this conversation.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:13 PM ^
You just answered your own question.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:15 PM ^
I'll crap my pants with joy if Bama sneaks in and OSU is left out.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:12 PM ^
Talking about Alabama is a bad talking point.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:14 PM ^
Wouldn't want to miss Saban lobbying for Alabama to get not just one, but two spots in the upcoming playoff.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:16 PM ^
You don't jump over TCU to #3 losing the biggest game of the year at home by 22 OSU.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:19 PM ^
Compared to a “neutral” site, overtime loss in a conference championship game; I don’t know why this is even a question in anyone’s mind
December 4th, 2022 at 12:22 PM ^
I never said OSU should be ahead of TCU, I think TCU should be #3. Was simply sharing what Connelly posted.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:23 PM ^
You’ve got some Saban in you chuck. Good luck against Georgia!
December 4th, 2022 at 12:16 PM ^
Your team shouldn’t have gotten crushed at home if they wanted a 3 seed. Just thank your lucky stars that other teams choked just like yours did to give them a second chance.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:17 PM ^
Chuck, I like you. We would probably be friends. But in no world does your team deserve to leap frog TCU. Deep down you know it too.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:19 PM ^
Bill's "Formula" includes SP+ ratings which include recruiting rankings and preseason projections. Invalidates it on the very face of it
December 4th, 2022 at 12:21 PM ^
But Ari Wasserman strongly approves of this rating strategy.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:21 PM ^
Does he include in his metric data for fighting the couch? It is unfair to even include the championship game.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:14 PM ^
I am all for wallowing in Michigan's 13 & 0 season which has been beautiful. Nobody except for Bama fans gives a hoot about what Nick Saban says, or what OSU thinks and says. Bama won a couple games they should have lost too fwiw, including Jimbo tippling the final play of the Bama A & M game.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:15 PM ^
Saban is shameless, but gotta love his tears 😭
December 4th, 2022 at 12:20 PM ^
Saban’s point is that they are one of the best 4 teams because they would be favored over TCU or OSU. The problem with that is that Bama would be favored based on reputation and past results. They are relying on the past decade of Bama dominance. But 2022 Bama is not 2010-2021 Bama.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:22 PM ^
At some point there HAS to be a difference between what your team is on paper and what you accomplished on the field. And if the latter isn't honored, why play the games?
If Alabama is the best team and Alabama has the record it does have, that's an indictment of Nick Saban.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:20 PM ^
I can't blame him for lobbying for his team. He's right when he says they'd be favored against OSU or TCU.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:31 PM ^
TCU yes, but from power ratings I have seen OSU would be about a 1.5 point favorite
December 4th, 2022 at 12:16 PM ^
Select the four and spend three hours discussing. Let’s go.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:17 PM ^
I hate Saban and his argument for getting in so much.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:17 PM ^
Anybody else find it interesting that Rece Davis says that the CFP committee should not be considering avoiding rematches when last year he said the exact opposite when it came to a possible semifinal Georgia/Bama rematch? He is the worst.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:20 PM ^
He must be on meth. Blue Sky, perhaps?
December 4th, 2022 at 12:24 PM ^
Only the best for Rece.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:29 PM ^
Rece is a goober who represents the worst of ESPN’s shriveling monopoly on college football.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:18 PM ^
If they want the easiest schedule for #1 they make TCU 4 and OSU 3. But I don’t want that.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:19 PM ^
https://masseyratings.com/cf/compare.htm
It's still early, with 35 rankings in, but we have a good idea of how the computers are rankings teams. I hope this isn't the way the committee is thinking.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:20 PM ^
Here we go.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:21 PM ^
Here we go boys!
December 4th, 2022 at 12:22 PM ^
BEAT TCU!!!
December 4th, 2022 at 12:22 PM ^
Thank God. TCU is no pushover and Michigan has shown that they can handle OSU, but I would rather not play OSU in the semis.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:29 PM ^
Sec championships and playoffs have proven its difficult to beat a team twice in the same year especially at the end.
