OT: Tim Banks named Tennessee Defensive Coordinator

Tim Banks was a guy rumored to be a target of Harbaugh’s, and some here were disappointed we didn’t land him. He’s from Detroit and was a key recruiter for Penn State, so having him out of the Big Ten should be a net positive.

Sources: Tennessee is finalizing a deal to hire Penn State co-defensive coordinator Tim Banks as the school’s new DC. Banks has extensive DC experience, including at Illinois, Cincinnati and Central Michigan.

Looks like Linguist is going to be stealing kids from Tennessee for Michigan and Banks is going to be stealing kids from Michigan for Tennessee

Banks seems like a fine secondary coach and recruiter. I'm glad he isn't our DC. Macdonald may have a nonexistent track record as a DC, but Banks has a straight up bad track record.

OSU launched into "Keep promising young coach protocols" apparently Washington was pretty well set for Rocky Top and then...changed his mind.  Would love to find out what happened behind the scenes there.

Oh, well, if OSU can't lose Washington at least the guy who was making inroads in SE Michigan for Penn St. is elsewhere now.

I'd be surprised if he stole a lot of guys from UM, but I absolutely see him being a pain for the MSU/UK-level teams that now have to deal with UT being in the mix.

Good luck Mr. Banks and your going to find out that coordinating a defense in the SEC each and every week is a long way from Penn State. Glad he is away from the Big10 but heading into a really difficult job.
