Cowboy hats do that to some folks.

Especially red ones.

Asshole. If you can't handle your emotions, get off the field as quickly as you can. I hope he's called out for that by the two schools. But I doubt he will be...

Another one... but UH says they're going to discipline the player at least.

I am in no way condoning what he did....but I watched the end of the game as the Oregon State fans rushed the field. Many Oregon players immediately found themselves in a sea of black and orange shit-talking fans.
I say this as an Oregon State fan who lived there many years. It was a recipe for something like this, I was surprised how restrained the UofO players were that I saw on the broadcast.
Having said that....this particular player was NOT surrounded and looked to have a clear path away from the fan. He should have walked away, and deserves to be punished.

I saw the same thing UMFan21, OSU fans/students rushed the field hopped up on booze getting in the face of offensive/defensive linemen talking crap. Those players were in the right to push/fight their way out of there. And if the laws of physics are affirmed (fuel/spark leads to fire) then maybe those fans learn their lesson.
This guy obviously has thin skin, clearly one word from a fan shouldnt lead to a head slap. But we're all making too much out of this one. Clearly no parallels to the 8-on-1 & the 2-on-1 helmet smashing assaults in the tunnel.

oregon players are known for their blountness

Bad actor. Perhaps Mel can land him from the transfer portal.
November 27th, 2022 at 12:02 PM ^
That’s a woody Hayes move right there. Maybe he needs to go to jail with the spartan players. Clean the game up of these criminals.
November 27th, 2022 at 12:53 PM ^
With as much attention the incident at Michigan Stadium got, you'd think players would have more awareness about it these days.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:30 PM ^
There's no reason to think that based on the lack of meaningful consequences for players or coaches.
The B1G hasn't taken any disciplinary actions for the tunnel fight, and other recent fights in the B1G on the field or court have generated more controversy than meaningful punishment.

He shouldn't have punched him and should get disciplined, but sometimes I wonder if these "internet tough guys" forget they're in real life sometimes and say something stupid that they get what's coming for them. Fan clearly looked at the player and said something. He's an idiot too.
November 27th, 2022 at 12:08 PM ^
In the eyes of the law there's very little that fan could have said to justify that physical attack.
November 27th, 2022 at 12:09 PM ^
I imagine with how many times there's been rushing the field moments this season, there's going have to be a zero tolerance policy for fans on the field in the near future.
I also suspect stuff like this has gone on for years but phones and social media are amplifying it.
November 27th, 2022 at 12:40 PM ^
Zero tolerance for crowd rushes would be hard to enforce. How much security would stadiums need?
I don't see this as a huge problem. Most of these happen without incident. Handle the incidents that do occur on a case-by-case basis.

Oooooooh he looked at him and said something. Ooooooooh.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:20 PM ^
Dude is lucky he wasn't skipping too.

but sometimes I wonder if these "internet tough guys" forget they're in real life
Some of these players are fucking cowards too. They're all armored up and *then* play tough guy.
Just like when sparty was "just walking the field" but had their arms locked and helmets on to run over Bush.

Bill Burr has a hilarious skit about the Malice at the Palace that touches on that subject.
November 27th, 2022 at 12:54 PM ^
I'm sure he had some liquid courage in him and made some comments; at the same time this player is covered in 10+ pounds of padding and protective gear and waited for the guy to turn around before throwing a punch. It also looks like the fan is a bigger guy, which may have also given the player some pause. There's no reason to throw a punch at a guy, and the fact this player waited until he had the jump on the fan makes me think he's a bit closer to the fake tough guy than the fan on this one.
November 27th, 2022 at 12:04 PM ^
Tuck probably offered him a transfer spot as soon as the punch landed.
November 27th, 2022 at 12:13 PM ^
Maybe ahead of time?

At 0:01, it looks like #4 is looking directly at #2 and then makes some kind of gesture shortly thereafter. But you're right, it's hard to see otherwise.
Not taking sides... just saying.

Mike Valenti and Rico will represent him and claim it’s Jim’s fault because of their jealousy of Michigan of course neither mention Ghoulston choking Denard or Dantonio’s antics!
November 27th, 2022 at 12:18 PM ^
Somehow Valenti will find a way to blame this on the Michigan tunnel.

Those last few snaps were pretty heated. Mase Funa (I think) was heated and wanted a piece of one of the Beavers. When the game ended and fans started going over the railing while Oregon was on still on the field, I wondered if there would be problems. I even saw little kids going on the field and was like *YIKES*. I hope everyone else was able to celebrate safely. Great win for Oregon State!

Sucker punch. No excuse. Completely unacceptable.

Got to follow that @UnnecRoughness account. It's hilarious.
Found this gem from Pitt vs Miami (FL) game.
Like a Jack Black film.
LOL!

oh, c'mon, that's not fair.
a sparty would have used his helmet, not his fists.

When you want your college football career summed up by "I punched one of my rivals fans in the back of the head"
