OT: Is the Jordan brand losing its appeal?
I saw this on CNN Money about Nike's Jordan brand slipping a bit in terms of popularity. I thought this was interesting given the hype surrounding Michigan and the Jumpman line.

Not if we win while wearing it. Then its quality brand image grows exponentially. Let's get about the whole winning thing shall we.

edit the title to "The Case for Speight II"

Wait a minute, I am pretty sure we are up to "The Case For Speight Part VI: The Undiscovered Country" or something like that.
Somewhere in someone's mind is "The Case For Peters, Wherein I Present No Data And No Particular Conclusion That Is Decipherable To Man". I bet that gets posted by Thursday evening.

Meant Peters.
And either you missed my earlier thread or you burned me real bad just now. Probably both.

The shifts in resale are just nuts. In 2015, Jordan was 96% of the resale market and Adidas was 1%. Now, Adidas is at 45%. In two years!

Wouldn't this article be better served to be posted in like mid-May?

Personally I think the deisgn team for Jordan is weak. Even if you look at the non uniform gear they released, its pretty forgettable. And I don't mean crazy designs are needed. They fuck up the basics. Moreover, the jumpman on many pieces of apparel unbalances the designs. They would never do it, but the jumpman belongs on the back up near the neck.

was so "creative" that Michigan, and every other nike school, and all 32 NFL teams, sell the exact same off the field gear just in different colors (and in Michigan's case, replacing the swoosh with a Jumpman)

Because they're ugly, over priced, and poor quality. Mystery solved.

There is no doubting that Adidas stylists/designers have absolutely killed it in the last few years.
Yeezy/Kanye brought Adidas a ton of intrigue and hype, even though not that much merchandise was sold. They capitalized on that big time to introduce the boosts, and some of their other signature shoes. Guys like Harden and Lillard have great looking stylish shoes becuase of their design teams. I am someone who has been loyal to Nike and Jumpman for a long time, but Adidas has done very well lately.
On the flip side, I don't really love Jordan shoes lately. I love the Jordan 31s, but otherwise have not bought any shoes from them in a while. All their models feel dated. Meanwhile, Adidas has very stylish shoes you can wear with most outfits.

who cares, we got a boatload of money from them and they look cool and recruits like it

No not at all, it's just that ADIDAS came out with a lot of really awesome shoes the past few years. Since they brought over Kanye, completely changed their shoe designs and actually have lower priced average shoes (Yeezys withstanding)

Adidas makes ugly stuff and frankly, their logo doesn't have the same cache as the Jumpman or Swoosh.
Couldn't care less about shoe sales to non-college sports fans.
People go crazy over Jordans. When MDen had an exclusive adidas Damian Lillard shoe in Michigan colors in 2014, no one gave a crap and they had a very hard time selling them all. Not even sure if they did.
The AJ Trainer 1 sold out literally in minutes last year and were seen later on in the months that followed for 3x the retail price.

Most of Adidas new shoes are hot and most of them don't have the same old logo. I'm a light weight sneaker head but, ADIDAS has been killing Nike as a whole the past two years. They put out those fly knit shoes that are super popular years before Nike and reaped the benefits.

Hell no what kind of dumb thought is that?
Ive never seen so many people in Michigan gear in my life. Jordan is still considered a fresh ass brand especially in urban areas
Jordan brand will forever be popular because...........Jordan.

I predict another thread about this once this one cycles down off the front page.

Jumpman is cool, I just like the old shoes. For Michigan gear I actually prefer the swoosh to the JM logo. Maybe it's my age group, but the swoosh compliments the M well.

Never did appeal to me. Give me the Adidas back.
