Michigan is hiring Georgia’s John Collins as assistant director of recruiting, a source tells 247sports. Spent the last two years at Georgia as a personnel and recruiting analyst.

Homerun hire.  The only reason why Georgia was any good at recruiting.  The brains behind Kirby Smart.  Best analyst of all time.  Etc.

Honestly no idea.  More Georgia recruiting influence/knowledge can't hurt, though.

All of Sherrone’s moves on the recruiting front have been fantastic. Hopefully they’re in time to make a difference for the 25 class. We really need some more elite talent, especially on defense, to make up for the 23 and 24 classes.

I don’t think it’s just player developent. Michigan has a “type” when recruiting. They like guys who play multiple sports. They like guys who were captains. They like guys who are just good at football, not necessarily how they perform in T-shirt and shorts. They like guys with certain physical traits. It’s not about recruiting rankings.

That’s how you flip a Mason Graham from Boise State. That’s how you get a 3* Kenneth Grant and call them gifts from the football gods as true freshmen. That’s not development, that’s having a system and doing it better than the recruiting sites do it.

Michigan is certainly good at player development, and there’s no reason to believe that’s going to change. But I’d argue Michigan has really excelled at talent identification.  If you’re looking down on Michigan’s 23 and 24 classes, you’re not paying close enough attention to the details.

Queue up the Georgia fan sites complaints and bitches that he wasn't that good anyway, and was only a hindrance to the real recruiters on the staff.

Based on all of his moves so far I predict Michigan is going to be fking awesome again because they have the best defense in the country.  There will be a drop off when the best defense in the country goes into the draft. In a 2/3years, Michigan will be a top the Big Ten, and competing for championships year in and year out.  I'm high on Moore! well see...

If he is responsible in any meaningful way for what Georgia's done on the recruiting trail, this is -- as our current President once said -- "a big f'ing deal."
