Eleven extra points for the wins!
December 6th, 2022 at 7:07 PM ^
Only 11?
December 6th, 2022 at 7:24 PM ^
Might as well get it done in the Fiesta.
December 7th, 2022 at 8:37 AM ^
I hope he gets them all, but one point at a time!
December 6th, 2022 at 6:29 PM ^
Dammit, Jim. If you hadn't gone for 2 against Purdue, he'd only be 10 points away.
December 6th, 2022 at 9:13 PM ^
Plus, we were scoring more touchdowns than we needed, not to mention goin' for it on 4th down...screwin' Moody somethin' fierce!!
That's poor culture right there...not thinking of the kicker's needs.
I blame Donovan and JJ and Mullings (among others) for all that selfish scoring.
When you have a beautiful bald kicker with a glorious stache, you let that man kick the damn ball!!!
MOODY!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure this is accurate (i.e., not sure it accounts for pre-1940s records). Will check at some point when I have time.
December 6th, 2022 at 8:38 PM ^
It doesn't count pre-1949. If it did, I'm sure Willie Heston (1901-04) would have the record. He scored 72 touchdowns just in the 17 games that they have records for (out of the 36 he played). Fielding Yost said Heston scored 106 TDs.

The U of M record book hasn't been updated since the Purdue game (in which Jake got 5 points), but in case anyone wants to check it out to see who else is on the list, click on this link to see the whole book. Jake also needs just 3 points to break the single-season scoring record (Desmond Howard, 1991). Here is the relevant snip from Page 39:

Damn, Blake had a real shot at it this season. Didn't realize he was that close. Four 6s to tie with 2 conference games to play, plus the post season.
December 6th, 2022 at 8:33 PM ^
How cool would it have been to have two guys break the record in the same season?
December 6th, 2022 at 7:12 PM ^
Impressive that Blake Corum could absolutely have broken that single season record this year as well. Six touchdowns over 4.5 games (second half Illinois, OSU, Purdue, then two playoff games) is more-than-realistic.
December 6th, 2022 at 7:12 PM ^
Jinx!
Ok, you beat me ... but I noted the second half of the Illinois game, so it evens out.
December 6th, 2022 at 7:27 PM ^
6 TDs for Blake against Georgia seems more than realistic.
December 6th, 2022 at 7:28 PM ^
Wow, had no idea Quinn Nordin was clocking in at #11 all-time
December 6th, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
I will say, I think it's cool that Desmond has the season record. For a wide receiver to hold a school's scoring record is very rare.
But if Moody can break it just by kicking PATs, I'll take it.
December 6th, 2022 at 7:51 PM ^
Still in 19th after all these years … yeahhhhhhh !!!!
December 6th, 2022 at 7:59 PM ^
Jake kicked 5 PATs against Purdue. Does that mean he's only 10 points away?
December 6th, 2022 at 8:31 PM ^
Oops--you are right. I corrected it. 10 to tie, 11 to break.
December 6th, 2022 at 11:49 PM ^
So Desmond stole the top spot from Tom Harmon, who beat out Tom Harmon's record. Some impressive company
December 6th, 2022 at 6:42 PM ^
It will be time for The Moody Blues if he doesn't make it.
December 6th, 2022 at 6:54 PM ^
11 TDs is a lot to expect over the next two games, (what, five against TCU and six against Georgia?), but I'll take it.
;-)
December 6th, 2022 at 6:55 PM ^
...for Jake's sake, of course.
December 6th, 2022 at 7:00 PM ^
11 points short and he had to split time with Nordin his first two years. He’s the God of Kicking. I wouldn’t want to draw him in an ass-kicking tournament.
December 6th, 2022 at 7:07 PM ^
Not to mention the 2020 season was cut short. Denying him points there
December 6th, 2022 at 7:49 PM ^
Here is hoping that Michigan scores 12 touchdowns in the next two games they win for him to get that extra point to become the all time point leader.
December 6th, 2022 at 7:53 PM ^
It’s happening. 12 TDs will occur in the next 2 games. Book it
December 6th, 2022 at 9:06 PM ^
Here's hoping he's kicking 12 PATs over the next two games!
December 6th, 2022 at 9:11 PM ^
May he reach it on the 31st...in all XPs.
December 6th, 2022 at 9:33 PM ^
Also Ronnie Bell is in the top 10 for career receiving yards. A couple good games in the playoffs and he could move into the top 5.
December 7th, 2022 at 3:41 AM ^
Here's to 12 extra points....
December 7th, 2022 at 7:03 AM ^
I think it's best if he gets at least 15 XPs over the next 2 games. Breaking a record by just a point or two seems sort of cheap and you never know they might uncover an extra FG someone else has down the line so I don't want to risk having it taken away from him later. So to be safe I guess we'll have to score 50 points each of the next 2 games.
