How many "shakeups" have there been since 2015? At some point the recruiting department and the offensive and defensive coordinators (or the safeties coaches working via Zoom) aren't the problem. We learned that in 2010, we learned that in 2014.
The head coach fundamentally changed after the 2016 season. Whether it was the loss, or having a newborn babby in the house. This isn't the same guy.
The guy had 2 extra months to prepare for this year, and the results are awful.
Why is it so many players look to leave this school (either opt out, transfer or to go pro) as soon as they can? How much money does Michigan Football set on fire by bringing in guys that leave the program after 6-12 months? Ohio State doesn't have this problem.
Reality is, Harbaugh is lucky there are no fans in the stands this year. It will be 48 and rainy in AA this Saturday. People would stay away from the next 2 home games in droves. The AD would certainly take notice.

I don't think there have been that many shakeups since 2015, actually. We mostly plugged in various position coaches like every other team in the US. There was a big shakeup on offense in 2019 and our recruiting on that side of the ball is extremely promising for this upcoming class. I'll be worried about the young offense if they don't get better over the course of the year.
On defense, we've had one shakeup. DJ Durkin coached a really good defense in 2015 and left. Then we hired Don Brown and we've run the same scheme under the same coach for 5 years. Brown has been here since then, recruiting poorly. Zordich has always been here, recruiting poorly. Now we have a safeties coach who literally isn't coaching. If Brian Kelly can pull out of a funk with some coaching changes, so can Jim Harbaugh.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:44 PM ^
True. And this year is going to be worse than Hoke’s worst year.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:17 PM ^
Cool. Now do Rutgers and Maryland. Hell, do Minnesota, Nebraska and Notre Dame.
Losing to Indiana yesterday sucked. Losing to OSU always, really sucks. But come the eff on.
November 8th, 2020 at 9:12 PM ^
Hoke beat one of the worst osu teams in probably the last 100 years of modern football and they still nearly beat us.
5 other teams that were shitty in the big ten that year beat them as well.
The indiana teams hoke beat won 2 to 5 games a year as well.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:09 PM ^
I said before the season if the offense sucks again people will just blame COVID instead of Harbaugh. Here we are. COVID didn't seem to affect MSU last week.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:16 PM ^
Well, sometimes excuses are correct. That much turnover on offense is hard to overcome. It's even harder to overcome when you don't get to practice. I'll be singing a different tune if the offense doesn't get better over the course of the season.
My bigger concern is the defense being absolutely putrid. MSU didn't do anything special against us. They literally just took a step back and launched a million fly routes. The defense was utterly incapable of dealing with it. That's inexcusable.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:22 PM ^
MSU literally has a brand new coach that hardly got any time with his offense that he had to piece together through transfers. What is another year gonna change here?
November 8th, 2020 at 3:26 PM ^
No we haven’t forgotten how bad Brady Hoke is. We’re watching it all over again.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:30 PM ^
I think the MSU loss was dreadful. I also think Michigan wins that game 19 times out of 20 if they play again. It's not like he had some mastermind offensive gameplan. He just chucked a bunch of fly routes to fast receivers and brutally exposed Vincent Gray. I'm all aboard the fire Don Brown train.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:44 PM ^
So the other 19 times we don't use Gray? Otherwise, I don't get your point.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:52 PM ^
Even with the awful play calls, MSU's receivers played out of their damn minds and made a ton of improbable plays. Throw in the fact that MSU seems to be an extremely turnover-prone team and they didn't turn the ball over a single time against us.
November 8th, 2020 at 5:21 PM ^
Turnovers were even, yards gained were even, there was nothing flukey about their victory. We were even the home team, but that doesn’t really matter this season. If we played them 20 times, I think it would be much closer to a 10-10 split than 19-1.
November 8th, 2020 at 6:56 PM ^
I completely agree but these losses just keep happening with Harbaugh as if the guy is cursed or something. The deep ball on an outside fly pattern is the lowest percentage play an offense can run. Truthfully the coverage wasn’t bad on a couple of those, but the MSU receivers kept making improbable play after play. Then you look at the “he has trouble with the snap” game, osu 2016, Iowa 2015, psu last year. These were all games that required some type of low percentage play/result to vault the opponent to victory and it keeps happening year after year. Seriously, what are the chances it always happens against you and never for you?
I’m okay with Harbaugh staying, mainly because the chances he’s fired or quits is slim to none. I would like to see some changes on the defensive side of the ball and offensively you can’t tell me Harbaugh isn’t influencing the play calls. If he actually backs off and let’s Gattis run the show, then no other changes are needed right now. 2020 was going to be a rebuilding year before the opt outs, with them it’s an even bigger project. Hope to see some improvement and pray for a snowstorm on December 12th to at least give our guys a shot against osu.
November 8th, 2020 at 8:41 PM ^
How many more "rebuilding years" will there be?
November 8th, 2020 at 3:49 PM ^
Do you ever watch football?
The weakness MSU exploited is still there and our best 2 defensive linemen aee now injured.
At best a rematch with MSU is a coin flip
November 8th, 2020 at 3:54 PM ^
You're arguing a few posts up that Harbaugh is as bad as Hoke. You're asking me if I even watch football?
November 8th, 2020 at 4:17 PM ^
This team is going to finish with just as bad or worse of a win percentage as Hoke's last team.
And either you don't think that, or that's okay to you I guess, because COVID.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:48 PM ^
Not only that, but it didn't seem to affect Iowa against MSU either.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:28 PM ^
This Hokebaugh crap has to go.
Covid or not, the other teams are dealing with the same pandemic with probably less resources and it's clear we are just being out coached, schemed, disciplined, or out talented. Doing the same thing over and over every year pretty much says we are willing to live with mediocrity.
November 8th, 2020 at 2:56 PM ^
While the evidence you’ve outlined is quite compelling I’m just not sure.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:14 PM ^
Like I have been saying, I am sure a contract has been agreed on. They will not announce a multi-million dollar contract when the athletic department just furloughed a bunch of employees. The optics of that look horrible. This also means that they will not hire a new coach and give him a bunch of money either. This thing is bigger than football guys. It’s more than just wins and losses. He is not going anywhere unless he decides to leave.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:17 PM ^
Yes You are all true -We never should not of lost to MSU and terrible saturday -We were really not ranked this year and look at Penn St terrible 0-3 and Franklin was suppose to be great .
I see the past years -but maybe this is one of those weird ass years of course .
Mayfield and Hayes not playing hurt ,LB's Banged up ,Maybe Indiana way better for one year than anyone thought.
Love Michigan -Whatever happens lets just get back there. But i do not want to panic and lose recruits -Two Huge CB's next year -Michigan Ties.
Go Blue Forever
November 8th, 2020 at 3:21 PM ^
That would be insane. I really do not believe JH will be the coach next year.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:24 PM ^
Not extended and not going to be.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:35 PM ^
Do you have any facts to justify this feeling? Like covid: science on one side, a feeling on the other side.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:37 PM ^
Certainly isn’t too late to back out of any unofficial agreements.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:41 PM ^
My guess is Jim Harbaugh will be the coach of the Chicago Bears in 2021
November 8th, 2020 at 3:44 PM ^
Why do you hate to say it
Please clarify
Cuz if you really hated it, you not only would NOT have said it, you would NOT have posted it on a message board
November 8th, 2020 at 3:51 PM ^
I hate to say it because I don’t want the program to further implode and I think it’s going to happen.
Or should I say the fuse has already been lit for implosion in the form of an extension and the fans don’t know yet.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:47 PM ^
let's let him finish the season shithead.... all this talk doesn't help anything... They fucked up in D recruiting, made some adjustments on offense, that dont fit so perfect with the personnel... who the hell are we going to get thats going to get us to start beating OSU??
I honestly don't mind if he gets a big extension. It will help with recruiting, and if he's that bad, trust me, we have the pockets to drop him early in the contract... that should be the last thing you are sweating in this day and age.
The seasons not over, let's talk about this shit after its over, if we want to fire him that bad EOY, don't worry, there's plenty of people that Ward can find that will lose to Ohio State every year... And we can continue the disjointed transitioning every 3-6 years.
I'm sick and tired of all these whiney little bitches demanding the AD to do things, when they don't have the faintest idea, or even bother to suggest a plan of who to replace him with, and we're 3 games into the year.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:55 PM ^
It doesn’t seem to hurt OSU having a coaching change every 3-6 years. They have actually had the same number of transitions as we have in the past decade.
November 8th, 2020 at 4:01 PM ^
Fickell was an interim and they sucked ass when he was their coach. They were able to hire Meyer really early because he wasn't employed at the time and he got to start recruiting early. They also had vastly more talent than any other team in the Big Ten when Meyer started. It was a really unusual situation.
November 8th, 2020 at 4:09 PM ^
Well, interestingly Meyer is currently available right now.
November 8th, 2020 at 7:07 PM ^
EXACTLY!
November 8th, 2020 at 4:01 PM ^
You are no longer married to Glen Mason.
November 8th, 2020 at 4:14 PM ^
Interesting how people keep bringing up his struggles against OSU but fail to mention MSU, bowl games, losing to a good but not spectacular Indiana team, the loss in Iowa city, 2017, losing to all the best teams he played in 2019.
this isn’t as simple as OSU is good.
November 8th, 2020 at 6:37 PM ^
Which is why he must be fired!
November 10th, 2020 at 12:31 AM ^
Nor are you any longer hot.
November 8th, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
feeling based on what exactly? nothing? oh okay yeah that makes sense
November 8th, 2020 at 4:11 PM ^
Have we gotten news about the Wisconsin game being cancelled? I know I complain about how much the university pays Harbaugh for his results but at this point I’d feel better if they paid him not to coach a game.
November 8th, 2020 at 4:30 PM ^
Pretty sure Harbaugh's contract is or is supposed to be public information so this is not possible
November 8th, 2020 at 5:21 PM ^
Why would our current situation have anything to do with announcing or not announcing an extension on Harbaugh's contract?
November 8th, 2020 at 6:19 PM ^
You can’t secretly give someone a big new contract at a public university. Your theory is wrong.
November 8th, 2020 at 10:06 PM ^
You can certainly negotiate with his agents.
November 8th, 2020 at 6:21 PM ^
Notre Dame fans wanted to fire Brian Kelly half of the years he’s been there. Harbaugh hasn’t been great, but it’s like a bad Moeller or Llyod year. I didn’t watch IU Saturday. It was my second missed game in ~33 years. Harbaugh will bounce back. But this year will suck.
November 8th, 2020 at 6:35 PM ^
Please do me a favor and screw off. Michigan fans like you are why we will stay mediocre. Damn trolls
November 8th, 2020 at 6:35 PM ^
Fuck this athletic department and fuck warde if what u say is true. If harbaugh isn’t fired by the end of the year preferably today, I will not be renewing my season tickets this year. Lose to Indiana and Michigan state who the fuck wants to watch this shit show
November 8th, 2020 at 6:43 PM ^
You want to beat Ohio State? Hire Urban Meyer and sell your soul. Or keep Harbaugh and win 8, 9 and sometime 10 games a year and quit whining. Simple.
November 8th, 2020 at 10:20 PM ^
I’m ready to make the Faustian bargain. Where do I sign?
