I can’t wrap my head around winning the natty and just totally sucking at recruiting.  I get the coaching and staff changes but Alabama is getting commits.  Washington is getting commits.  Everyone except us.  So frustrating.

I don’t understand how people are still confused about recruiting. The high level recruits have always predominantly  gone to the highest bidder and we remain one of the lowest bidders. There is no championship bump, we’re simply the first non high bidder to win.

Sigh. Sometimes I hate coming on here and seeing the dismissal of a kid because they aren’t picking Michigan. He’s going to Colorado to play with his best friends. Michigan decided to not recruit Beau and Brandon. It’s not rocket science. Actually if we recruited Michigan high schools as badly as we are right now… Donovan Edwards would’ve definitely went to tOSU or Colorado.

I work in one of the powerhouse schools in Michigan. The rep we have with the kids right now is down right bad. They didn’t bring in anyone that resonate with kids in the Metro Detroit area. I think it’ll turn around but… it’s not gone look good in the immediate

+1 informative for the first part.

For the second part, what do you mean by "They didn’t bring in anyone that resonate with kids in the Metro Detroit area?" Were you looking for someone with Metro Detroit ties? Is there a reason the staff won't be able develop relationships with SE Michigan HS coaches?

Ron Bellamy is about as Metro Detroit as it gets too. Also to the original post, who is Beau? Brandon I assume is Brandon Davis Swain?

As a side note, I find it incredibly petty when people (presumably high schools) get mad at a school simply for not recruiting their kids. College coaches have jobs to do, and it's to accumulate the most talent possible. Do they get evals wrong? No doubt. Unless they're being assholes to you, don't understand why you would hold a grudge.

The next kid to admit in the open that it was about the money will be the first, and I will become a fan because of the honesty. They can say it's not about the money all they want, and I'm sure kids take other things into account, but it's going to be a hard time convincing me that money isn't a major factor. Not that I fault them one bit either, stack the money as much as you can for as long as you can in case the NFL doesn't work out.

Our inability to recruit DBs is just crazy to me. We consistently put players in the NFL and our players are good, yet last year and the year before we had to settle for fliers and plan Cs. Obviously a very long way to go but you would think some elite players would want to go to Michigan.

Yes, I know the staff is all new, but still I just figure since they were pretty young they would get a new coach bump plus the NC, but oh well. I just think they issues will eventually come to bite us, like this year's QB situation and offense in general. Defense seems to be next after this year.

I predict that Colorado will be followed by the media closely again this season.  The big difference will be - a Big 12 schedule (without Oklahoma and Texas) vs a PAC 12 schedule.

The game in Lincoln will be an early indicator.  I’m not sure what the W/L predictor has for them - but a 7-5 season - or better - is possible. Is it probable?   What would be considered a “good” season for Colorado this year?

There are five (5) Big 12 teams in the Way Too Early ranking - Utah, Arizona, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and Kansas.  Colorado is scheduled to play all five of those teams.

It will be interesting theatre once again.

Michigan, to me, has earned the benefit of the doubt on who it wants to recruit and who it takes. Sure, I'd like to have this kid, but they've taken a bunch of three star, low - mid four star guys, a light dash of five stars, and used that team to win a national championship and beat OSU three straight times.

I trust who they get until they give me a reason not to.

Or, get this, maybe Michigan should get with it and start paying players like EVERY OTHER SCHOOL. Stop blaming recruits and their values and start looking inward. Michigan is the only school who operates this stupidly. They can’t recruit coming off a natty and some of you blame the recruits? There’s one common denominator.
