2 new Michigan crystal balls from Wiltfong

First one is for 4* S D’Arco Perkins McCallister out of Nashville, TN. The staff has been pursuing him hard and he’s been rising in the rankings. Has a good offer list including many SEC programs.

Second one is 3* OL Alessandro Lorenzetti out of Windsor, CT. His stock has been rising with offers from PSU and Georgia. Currently unranked in the composite.

Both crystal balls have a confidence of 6

I believe Lorenzetti is Canadian and recently moved to Connecticut in order to gain exposure/training for his football future (hence the unranked composite.)

I don't know how the world of elite private prep academies works, but he tweeted that he "committed" to Loomis Chaffee, CT in April 2020.  Maybe foreign student athletes can't choose to move anywhere in the US.  Maybe for immigration purposes they need a scholarship offer or an offer of sponsorship/visa and one's choices are limited by which schools recruit you?  I really don't know.

Well, since he's not a national/5 star recruit type, he's not going to get into an IMG style school. He's an unheralded (so far) guy from Quebec, he's probably not going to have many options outside of the Northeast. He still has to actually get into a prep-school, he can't just choose to go wherever. CT isnt the best place to get noticed, but it's better than being in Canada.

Question to anyone who understands crootin more than a 40 year old who gets all his Michigan news from this site and the Twitter. How is Michigan always in the hunt for top safeties or safeties that are on the top of their board. Not complaining but any means, it just seems weird they have no problem recruiting that position but literally every other position they finish second or lower for the guys they target. It’s not like they send a ton of great safeties to the league year in year out. Also, for the past few years did they know who their safeties coach was?? The best I’ve seen in my life was Ernest Shazor. Although I think he left school a year early but Dax Hill has the talent to be very special as well. It just baffles me that they are able to pull so much talent to that position. Anybody have answers to this?? Thanks and have a great day!!

And as always Go Blue!!

I am too lazy to do any research but my memory is that M’s safety recruiting was actually pretty Meh for quite a while.  Then Harbaugh put Partridge in charge of them and recruiting took off - (Dax was a huge assist by Sherrone Moore iirc).  Last years’s haul was still benefiting from the Partridge-effect IMO, and whomever was actually coaching the safeties (A. Larkin?). Bellamy will be a VERY good recruiter.

TLDR - Positions with the best recruiters as coaches tend to get the best recruits.

Although I’m pessimistic about the program in general, an unranked OL is not, in my opinion, a cause for concern.  OL always seems like a position that evaluators struggle to project.

It feels like this recruiting cycle is going to be very weird with us taking lots of "trust the coaches" guys and players whose rankings don't match their offer list due to covid messing up scouting. Probably going to have a lot of star watchers complaining but I'm not sure we're really going to have an idea of how good this class is until after the fall

If a recruit comes out of CT, they are almost certain to be unknown to the world. There’s a couple of private prep schools there, but even if a prospect is good, there’s not really anyone for them to play against.
