Exit Emil Ekiyor
[Isaiah Hole/247]
After an official visit to Tuscaloosa turned the tide, it seemed likely. After he cancelled this weekend's visit, it seemed inevitable. Now it's official: four-star IN OG Emil Ekiyor decommitted from Michigan and flipped to Alabama this afternoon.

As Sam Webb stated in the post linked aboved, Michigan wanted to keep Ekiyor in the fold, and they've pursued other interior linemen since it became clear the interest between Ekiyor and Alabama was serious.
At #105 on the composite, Ekiyor was the top-ranked player among Michigan's 2018 commits. While Mustapha Muhammad, at #109, isn't far off, Ekiyor was the only interior offensive lineman in the class, though it isn't a pressing need. (Four-star linemen Jalen Mayfield and Ryan Hayes both project to tackle or, in Hayes's case, tight end.) If the class calculator hasn't failed me, Michigan holds steady as the #14 class in the country and #3 in the Big Ten behind Ohio State and Penn State at first and fourth, respectively.

Bama probably feeds recruits hostessess like candy.
I doubt that Michigan does anything like this and I hope we never do.
That said, this is the sort of thing that could sway some impressionable young men.

I believe Denard and Devin were joking about that in one of Bacon's books... that the bag men were all over their recruiting trails except from U-M.

Dee Hart didn't do a whole lot at Bama.
Hand has been OK but not the 5-star hype that WE ARE GETTING every game from Rashan.
The last time we lost some Indiana-based guy was some safety who flipped to Florida, Indiana and had an underwhelming career.
Next man (recruit) up!

Thinking that full ride at UM is worth a lot more, dollar-wise and education-wise, than one at Alabama. Plus, he's got to live in Tuscaloosa, instead of A2, for god's sake! He's really rolling the dice that this football thing works out, but, realistically, between the potential for serious injury and the variable of how well he does or does not develop, it's a tough call for a 17-year-old kid.

I'm hoping we recruit/develop a dominating O-Line soon (like what Coach Harbaugh did at Stanford).

ya, i'm not really surprised or concerned. I personally can't blame the kid. He wants to be a center and he knows there is someone ahead of him for that spot. It'll be fine.

Read many times reguarding development. Up until Rutgers this weekend please describe said development this year.Ok, Indiana rushing the ball..but really Indiana? Pulease..with this staff of pro coaches where has the weekly improvement been? M has been stubborn with QB decisions, play calling to put your players in a place to succeed and take advantage of 10 men in the box. Coach brings in a proven o=line coach from Indiana, yet in the '18 class there is 2 OT "prospects" that will need a couple years to be ready. Where is the biggest need? Yet no one on the radar that that could possibly address that soon. Now I get frosh OT aren't the theat's not the best scenario...but Mason Cole did pretty well undersized at LT.

Bama has a slue of OL way ahead of you, may be you get your chance in 3 to 4 years.

Our O line is going to suck for a while now isn't it.

If a commit is going to flip anywhere Bama is probably the least painful. The worst would be MSU followed by Ohio State.
