Yah, stupid me. I signed up for bowl tickets weeks ago before realizing who and where we were going to be playing. Now, I'm on the hook for nearly $1k worth of worthless tickets and airfares to FL are just prohibitive. Now, I'll have to see if the AD can donate them to a military family or another charity.

Wait, since when are tickets to Florida prohibitively expensive? Round trip to Fort Lauderdale on Southwest and Spirit is ~$600. Even cheaper if you push your arrival date out earlier.

My daughter the Hoosier just forwarded the IU deal. They are headed out to Cali to play the Utes in the Bay Area (a big deal for Hoosier fans). Whereas we're being fleeced for over $2k for three days in south Florida, their package is at the Grand Hyatt SF (team hotel) for two days and all of the good stuff for $900 pp.

Jeebus. I spent less money per person taking my family of 4 to Disney World for a week and we stayed at one of the deluxe resorts. Sorry for the humblebrag.

To get to S. Florida if the package prices are out of reach. I can't afford that either, but always interested to see what is included. One of these days.

But as a federal employee I have to plan my leave for November-January back in September. I'll never get to go to any bowl games or playoffs games until I retire in 11 years.

Yeah, I am never sure who these things are for. People who just block off the week between Christmas and New Years months in advance? I can't get extra time off in December unless I request it in January.
December 5th, 2016 at 10:35 AM ^
I am confused- based on your avatar. The week between Christmas and NY is time off for many people and certainly is off for UM folks. Unless you are in a very serious position with the health system I would assume.

Teachers/universities/etc. have a break, as do most of us in the auto industry. My plant shuts down and while some engineers come in for maintenance, I've got the week off. That's true across the industry.
If you're in healthcare... well people get sick all the time, so that's tough to schedule for you

I know many people likes to be cheap and do everything themselves and think $2900 for a flight and hotel - that's a rip off, but it's actually not bad.

If I bought to many student tickets, are you able to freely sell them on stub hub? are there any ways to sell to ensure they go to michigan fans?
