Traveling to San Antonio POSBANG
I know that EVERYONE WANTS to be there and that we are hyped up with our team. But lets BANG away as we all start our trek to San Antonio for a great weekend of Michigan Basketball.
May our boys shoot straght and true...
May their defense be tough and quick
And may their team work, passion, and desire bring home the championship.....
GO BLUE!!!!!
My flight leaves at 3:30 today...
And also during a meaningless Sunday shootaround!
So Jealous......
That sounds awesome!
we are flying back through Minn. and after M won the hockey game my spouse suggested we change our tix to stay longer in Minn...I told him I couldn't deal with all that extra time in cold, dreary Minn with Buckeye and Domer fans no thanks...
But we are arriving in Dallas (airport) on Fri around 2PM and if anyone needs a ride from there to San Antonio let me know...we can take 2 maybe 3...
Go Blue!

This is a great time to be a Wolverine fan! Enjoy!!
I'll see you all there! I'm taking off tomorrow.
I'm not going, but I'm here to tell you peeps to make more noise than we heard at the Staples Center!! And remember, you'll be the only ones cheering for Michigan Saturday night, becuase the world wants Sister Jean.
And so does Nova and Kansas, for that matter...
GO BLUE!!!!!

...i was this close to dropping the $2000-ish to fly, stay, rent a car and go on saturday night. wish i was joining you all.
Staying in Austin. Go blue!!
Thought I'd share some ideas to avoid the tourist traps on the riverwalk...
San Antonio has some fantastic restaurants, something that continues to surprise me even after almost 9 years here, and some good bars:
- The only place worth eating at on the Riverwalk is Boudro’s; don’t eat anywhere else right on the river unless you enjoy bland, salty, and/or fatty, tourist food. Boudro’s is great and will require a reservation. Actually, most good places downtown will need a reservation.
- Pearl district has many really good restaurants and they’re very creative with the menus. They will be pricey though. My favorites are Southerleigh (Texas Eclectic & brewery), Il Sogno (Italian), and Down on Grayson. Boiler House has a good breakfast/brunch.
- Guenther House is very popular and has a great rep, especially for brunch; I’ve not been there, though.
- The boutique hotels are also a good choice for food. I recently ate at Rebelle at the St. Anthony and it was great with great drinks.
- Southtown is also a trendy strip with some good restaraunts and bars – Feast is my fave.
- The bars on the Riverwalk are pretty good, but will be what you expect in a tourist zone. A cool bar on the north side of downtown that I like is the Brooklynite. Southtown and Pearl will also have bars to hang out in.
- Of course, Whataburger is always an option and I wouldn’t pass it up! For barbeque, go to Rudy’s. Or, if you have a car, head to Lockhart for some really good bbq and if you cant choose a place, choose Smitty’s Place. Austin has good bbq, but the juice aint worth the squeeze in terms of wait time and travel time.
- The TexMex in SA is phenomenal, I recommend Pappasitos or maybe Chuy’s, though both require a car. For Mexican, go to La Fogata. Again, there are many many to choose from!
Things to do on Sunday in between Michigan wins:
- Sea World and Six Flags
- Many great golf courses – LaCantera, The Quarry, TPC San Antonio, Brackenridge are pretty close and give a good challenge. Watch out for rattlesnakes.
- Texas wine country tour. For the misses, of course.
- Museums: McNay Art Museum and The Witte are 2 good ones I can vouch for. The Ripley’s Odditorium doesn’t count.
- Remember the Alamo!
- Fredericksburg is a good day trip, but mostly for those who want to visit a small town main street with shops.
- Walk or jog the Riverwalk – its really nice and its been extended north and south of the main downtown section
- Mission trail
May your time in SA be filled with gread food, margaritas, and a double shot of Michigan wins!
Cheers!
Can't believe you neglected to mention that Chester Nimitz was born/raised in Fredericksburg! But otherwise a good list of reco's!

Always tried to get down to San Antonio at least a couple times a year. Sampling the Riverwalk restaurants on a pleasant afternoon or evening is a truly unique culinary exeprience. Great Tex-Mex ambiance. I envy you visitors. Hope the weather is nice. But, first and foremost, GO BLUE!!!

Good list...Boudro's is awesome. They have the best guacamole and make it table side. Very nice!
The bar at The Menger Hotel is interesting. Across the street from The Alamo and rumor has it the bar (and hotel) are hunted. Also, Theodore Roosevelt used the Menger Bar as his gathering / recruitment for the Texas Rough Riders.
It's a really interesting place.
I'm a virgin - bang me.
On Saturday AND Monday...........

Have we determined a "Michigan" Bar for Saturday?

Flying in from Harrisburg-Atlanta-Austin on Saturday am. The Harrisburg to Atlanta flight will probably be mostly Villanova fans but I'm sure things will even out for the Atlanta to Austin flight.
We are staying in San Marcos and are fortunate to have tickets in the Michigan section. I'm a lucky guy to have her by my side and her Dad's priority points are an awesome bonus !

Check out these food places:
Viva Tacoland, Mi Tierra, La Fogata,Pappasitos, El Chapparal,
Chris Madrids (food truck, had a fire months ago, so out of food truck until building fixed), Burger Boy, The Esquire Tavern, Sams Burger Joint
Old Smokehouse BBQ (hole in the wall bbq place) about a 15 min drive from downtown. Smoke Shack BBQ (near UIW), Augies BBQ, Dignowity Meats
Big Lous Pizza (big ass pizza, SouthSide, little ghetto area)
Food on Riverwalk is overrated and overpriced, typical tourist trap.
Bars/drinks:
O'Brians Pub-Hurricane will get you drunk as balls, Howl at Moon (Downtown)
Pearl or Southtown close to downtown
Country music check out Floores Country Store (Cash,Willie, Ernest Tubb all played there), Randy Rogers Band on Fri night, $30. Great Texas Country Artist. If you want a two stepping place Cowboys Dancehall (younger crowd) Thirsty Horse Saloon (middle aged)
Check out Ripleys or Buckhorn Museum downtown. Cool arifcats at both places.
Other museums are Witte, Briscoe, McNay
Sunday go hit up Sea World (expensive) or Six Flags Fiesta,TX. Go for a drive through TX Hill Country (Wimberely or Fredericksburg) LBJ Ranch and Museum is 1 15 min drive. Luckenbach is near there as well, check it out for real.
The RIM area has bunch of places to eat and is close to TopGolf and indoor Skydiving and Six Flags.
Gruene,TX is about a 30 min drive east from SA and has oldest Dancehall in TX, Gristmill great place to eat, bunch of small shops.
Float the River in New Braunfels
Bandera,TX 30 min drive NW of SA. Cowboy Capital of the World. Cool little redneck town.
Pedenrales Fallls or Garner State Park best 2 state parks near SA (1-1/2 hour drive)
Drive by Alamo Stadium, high school football stadium that holds 23,000.
Seriously on Sunday get out and explore. Use Friday Sat and Monday for downtown San Antonio.
Let me know any questions!

Hello. All people like to travel but also all people want to save on the flight. I can recommend to try booking tickets on the services in internet. For example I recently booked [SPAM LINK DELETED] really enjoyed the flight. Find the direction you need on their website. You can try cheap last minute flights, which are much cheaper than other flights, as it takes a little longer to get to your desired destination than on regular flights.
