A comparison between Steven Threet and Nick Sheridan. I did feel much more confident once Tate Forcier came in, but maybe that's just me......

Say what you will but Tate was a baller. The no defense thing at the time really held back the team. Loved the improvisation and command of the offense for such a young QB.

I always liked Tate. Was sad to see him leave, even if he left us with Denard. Wish RR had had a Don Brown in command of the D. He would have won some games.

Oh man this "analysis" is not going to go over well.
October 16th, 2017 at 3:41 PM ^
Yeah but only because there's no analysis and nothing makes sense.
October 16th, 2017 at 3:39 PM ^
Speight also played Florida, a better defense and had Uluzio as his RT.
O'Korn threw most passes against Purdue and Indiana, and had a semblence of a running game.
October 16th, 2017 at 3:41 PM ^
Speight also had the only competent wide receiver before he broke his leg, and the two worst defenses on the schedule after florida.

October 16th, 2017 at 5:14 PM ^
Just lost it at work after I read, to give Speight a +1, you added "and he had Ulizio as his RT"
October 16th, 2017 at 3:41 PM ^
Peters? How does that work, exactly?
October 16th, 2017 at 3:44 PM ^
Retardedly.
October 16th, 2017 at 3:46 PM ^
October 16th, 2017 at 3:47 PM ^
Let's go with Peters and let Harbaugh coach the passing game. Problem solved

odd thing is that if O'Korn had not come in against Purdue, I don't think we win that game. The first four series of that game were very, very ugly.
October 16th, 2017 at 4:06 PM ^
overcome a slow first quarter. No way Speight could have got things going in the 2nd. Thank god for the cheap hit, blessing in disguise i tell you.
October 16th, 2017 at 7:26 PM ^
said he was glad for the injury. He merely stated the obvious. We did much better when O'Korn came in. And he's right. The odds of Speight turning it around were slim to none and slim was walking out of the building (to paraphrase Dan Rather).
October 16th, 2017 at 4:01 PM ^
is moot. Static numbers versus first read and indecision, and then, run, Forrest run.
So the question comes down to, who would you rather have fly the plane and land it wth disaster looming, Sully or Flight, Tom Hanks or Denzel Washington. The only question is; how many souls on board will they save? That's the question this game answers on Saturday. It's all about survival of the fittest and dealing with disaster.
Cue up Gimme Shelter.
October 16th, 2017 at 4:05 PM ^
Sill waiting for the analysis. Those were just simple statistics. Analysis is using those statistics (not nearly enough there to do anything with) to draw reasonable conclusions.
October 16th, 2017 at 4:06 PM ^
The only important questions at this point are:
1. How can we have three Harbaugh-recruited QBs on the roster and none are better than Speight?
2. How can the offense have regressed so, *so* much in year three?
3. How is the mult-million dollar staff going to fix it?
Harbaugh's post-game presser sounded a whole lot like a Hoke presser, with mutiple references to "keep coaching them up" and "it's a process".
October 16th, 2017 at 4:13 PM ^
When everything is crazy it all comes down to guesses.
1.) How much is performance on the QB vs Wut Tackles lolz+Freshman WR's(except for the good injured one)
2.) See above. Experience. Did Speight ever truly recover from injury before his most recent one. Not just physically but mentally and being in the zone, trust of teammates etc.
3.) *crickets* Look forward to next year and hope the problems whimper into the dark. I think they'll still be there by the bowl game, just a tad less blaring(except for omg elite DE's please don't kill our QB).
October 16th, 2017 at 4:21 PM ^
The offense is somehow less than the sum of its parts. Nothing seems outright terrible, but as a package it's pathetic. I don't know how some of this isn't about coaching.
And I'm not seeing any bright lights at the end of the OL and QB tunnel here. Recent history provides little hope for the near future.
October 16th, 2017 at 4:42 PM ^
I feel better about the OL after Saturday. QB and WR, not so much.

1. Harbough's first quarterback recruit is a redshirt freshman. Redshirt freshman are bad. Even if he never sees the field, one recruiting miss means nothing.
2. See 1
3. Every staff we complete against is also multi-million dollar, and we aren't super duper special.
Do you think Harbaugh isn't the best coach this university could possibly get?

I hardly think that expecting the team to score more than ten points at home against an unranked opponent is "unrealistic".
This offense utterly stinks. To high heaven. It's as awful as I've seen since the joke of Sheridan/Threet.
Again, I don't think expecting something better than atrocious is "unrealistic". Every team has young players Every team has to replace starters.

I think if you cross reference Malaria deaths in India an analysis really takes form.
October 16th, 2017 at 4:24 PM ^
I KNEW my analysis was missing something but couldnt quite put my finger on what it was. At first I thought I needed to include customer satisfaction ratings of the new KFC Chicken Finger basket or maybe the netflix viewer rating of season 1 of Stranger Things but you are absolutely right - Malaria deaths in India truly bring the QB battle into laser focus.
