March Madness Round of 32 Open Thread
Arizona and Dayton currently at the half. Dayton down 7 but really made a run at the end of the first half.
Gonzaga and Kansas is the next game up. Go Zags
The Ol' 17-0 UNC run.
Ya hate to see it.
A 27-13 UNC run after MSU pulled uncomfortably close to within 2.
Ya hate to see it, again.
Cormac Ryan is the mark…and they’re taking it to him
Izzo is starting to get the excuse machine warmed up.
Injuries, refs, crowd, time change, flu, bad bounces….. what else?
Weird guys, crotched shots, etc…
His whole team is a bunch of weird guys.
I wonder how much longer Izzo will coach? This was supposed to be one of his best teams in a long time and they did not come anywhere close to expectations.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled a Saban this offseason. This was “the year!”
Didn’t have MSU fouling down 16 with 3:25 left on the bingo card
Tom ("Never Say Die") Izzo
Izzo is gonna resort to fouling with 3:25 left down 16?
Izzo is such a douche! Cuts it to 15 and calls a timeout like it’s a teaching moment early in the year.
Izzo trying to limit them to 2 pts per possession.
Buh-bye spartie.
Buh-bye, tiny tommy.
Got the over on that one
It’s really hard to comprehend that Izzo has been to the NCAA tournament 26 years in a row. He’s never had a season as bad as either of Howard’s last 2 years. How is that even possible?
A couple of those tournament appearances probably shouldn’t have been. You could argue this year they shouldn’t have been in. Also, all those appearances and one title.
The only time he won a title was the one time I was in a room with Donald Trump. Trump had a better seat than I did.
This is the 6th time Izzo had a 19-14 team accepted into the tournament. It could be strongly argued that none of those MSU teams deserved to be in the dance and should have gone to the NIT. So the 26 year streak is kind of a joke. If you gave those exact resumes to a different squad, they wouldn’t have been accepted. But the committee has had a major erection for Izzo for two decades. His abysmal record against the blue bloods (Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, etc) be damned.
This year’s 15 loss MSU team went farther in the tournament than all the other 15 loss teams. The others were were all eliminated out of the gate and a couple years ago, they had to do the play-in game, which they lost.

Excellent info. I was unaware of all those 19-14 teams. Muy bien
Izzo didn't adjust again after the early lead. Can't wait for his postgame interview.
Got a good game between O-Berger & Kyle Smith, go Cougs!
Good night, Sparty!
Now we need to win the hockey game and make it an extra special day in East Lansing.
How the hell does North Carolina always get kids to stay 2-3-4 years? Look at their roster, they’ve got Bacot and Davis as seniors, Ryan and Ingram as transfers. Several Sophs and Juniors. It must be nice!
Ryan was a serious recruit for us at one point.
I'm guessing NIL for UNC's bball program is top notch. UNC bball is a religion down there.
Roy Williams got them to stay year in and year out prior to NIL. I’ve got a friend who is a UNC fan and I always teased him about Beilein sending 3 stars to the NBA and NC keeping 5 stars for 4 years. Izzo does it too.
All that under the table money and fake curriculum kept them in skool....
Izzo took a preseason top 4 team with a top recruiting class to a 15 loss team and 2nd round exit. Well done coach
I am still annoyed they won on Thursday. Piece of poop team.
“Mr. March” my ass
That’s a rep he got about 20 years ago and the talking heads won’t let it go.
What’s the odds that Mr Ross can pay off Otzelberger’s buy out?
I really, really, REALLY hate North Carolina Basketball. But I’m happy they won today.
Gohlke is COLD-BLOODED!
Really enjoying this. Reminds me of Jimmer Ferredett run.
Oakland is coached really well. I miss that!
BS foul. Blew that whistle in anticipation

Anyone see Illinois post game locker room celebration? Underwood came in with a super soaker. Where have I seen that before? Underwood trying to be like Beilein

Despite the entire landscape of college basketball being gutted by the transfer portal, 1-year “not here to play school” rentals, and everything else…on a pure entertainment level: nothing beats March Madness.
I was the guy in my younger years who watched every “Big Monday” or “Super Tuesday” games along with all Michigan games. I no longer am that guy (Middle aged father of 3 does that). But despite all of that and no personal investment, here I am watching Creighton v. Oregon after midnight on the edge of my seat.

Couldn't agree more. Nothing beats March Madness.
Edit: Admittedly it's much more intense when you have skin in the game. Creighton -3.5

I haven't really been watching much of the tournament this year. It's just sort of been background noise. But golly, that Oregon Creighton game was riveting. I couldn't turn away!
