Some Positive News. Crystal Balls coming in for 4* Safety Isaac Thompson
Amid all of the negative energy surrounding UM football, we've picked up some crystal balls for 4* Isaac Thompson out of Missouri. Top 247 Safety scheduled to commit early December.
Not sure if he attended the Wisconsin game.

When you select the basketball tag instead of football...
November 16th, 2020 at 5:06 AM ^
No one pays attention to that.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:05 PM ^
I'll give the coaching staff some credit if it can keep this class together and keep future recruiting classes going amid all the losing plus ensuing negativity.
November 15th, 2020 at 10:46 PM ^
Some credit yes, but I still can't get over the poor roster management with Harbaugh. Are these guys going to transfer after 2 years? We probably lost our best QB before this season and we're paying for it dearly.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:05 PM ^
Some people will do anything to get the hell out of Missouri.

Hi there! I did HS in St. Louis!
Think I mentioned this in another thread (about back-up choices for college): if not for a scholarship to Michigan, I almost certainly would've gone to Washington University in St. Louis.
I don't find it so bad. But I've been to over 30 countries and lived in over 10 different cities so far; hence, metropolitan life has lost some of its charm. (I'm in my mid 30s.)
But yes, Missouri has a lot of growing problems but I'm sure the same can be said for many places.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:55 PM ^
? I was just making light of the situation in general. I really meant no disrespect to Missouri.
November 15th, 2020 at 10:25 PM ^
I didn't mind. I definitely didn't take any offense.
While I spent a major part of my life in St. Louis, I actually consider myself a New Yorker. (Though Midwestern and West Coast sensibilities have definitely rubbed off on me.)
November 16th, 2020 at 8:27 AM ^
I rather enjoy St Louis, having visited it many times for a certain gov't agency's business. You may recognize the new facility going up in downtown? Anyway, it's a nice place to visit, and a great sports town that backs their teams quite well. Except, maybe for the various football teams... (Still too soon?)

Obligatory:
November 15th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
Nice get, Coach Howard!
Oh wait, sorry, force of habit.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
Also, Domani Jackson loved his visit despite the loss. Wiltfong and Greg Biggins 247's lead West expert are talking crystal balls for Michigan. Recruiting going really well despite the season is huge. Not sure if it will keep up, but if recruits aren't scared off especially a CB that is a top 5 player in the country that is encouraging.
Edit. Wiltfong uses his for the current leader and has it on Ohio State at the moment. So no commitment is imminent, but still interesting if they pulled ahead of Ohio State considering what's going on
November 15th, 2020 at 9:17 PM ^
He sees early playing time is my guess
November 15th, 2020 at 9:21 PM ^
He did say that he thought he could play early.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:37 PM ^
He'd without a doubt be a starter day 1.
November 15th, 2020 at 10:37 PM ^
Too bad it's not working for DT recruiting.
November 16th, 2020 at 10:30 AM ^
I wonder if the staff is kinda using the "2020 mayhem" excuse to keep their recruits. Up is down and down is up in the B1G this year
November 15th, 2020 at 9:17 PM ^
Also he is a Michigan State legacy
November 15th, 2020 at 9:17 PM ^
This is 2022 recruit fyi
November 15th, 2020 at 9:21 PM ^
I know the team isn't good right now, but it sucks seeing so many fans wish for our downfall.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:24 PM ^
Come on man, nobody here wants Michigan or Coach to fail. We're just a little disappointed at where we are as a team and program. Some of us, myself included, just feel there needs to be a change. No player is bigger than the team. No coach is bigger than the team.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:27 PM ^
Wishing our downfall or just tuning into the game? I wish we were good... oh we still suck. Well that’s unfortunate.
November 15th, 2020 at 10:19 PM ^
Bull crap. Just read this blog board. There are PLENTY that want our coach to fail, and thereby our team. It’s just plain gross.
November 15th, 2020 at 10:40 PM ^
Especially when people are talking about his mental health or being on drugs for no reason. "On drugs" is exactly the kind of generic thing that smells like BS. It'd be one thing if someone said he had some vascular problems so he's on Medication ____ and that can have side effects on one's energy or something. Instead it's just, "There are rumors he's on drugs".
November 16th, 2020 at 3:59 AM ^
Bull crap, Clarence. There are PLENTY that were ecstatic about the hiring of JH, expected better results, are watching him fail embarrassingly, and want better. It’s looking like a 1-7 season and that is unacceptable. It’s just plain gross.
November 16th, 2020 at 8:42 AM ^
The coaching has already failed. The team has already failed. The program has already failed and continues in a state of free fall. Nobody wants that, but it has already happened.
I agree that people actively hoping for losses is disgusting, but I understand the thought. So far as we can tell, the AD (and above) is content with the current state of the program - content with failure. It feels like only a very public, very disgusting finish might be the only thing that leads to some attempt at resolving the current state of failure.
This program, under it's current 'leadership', is not coming back from the grave. It doesn't matter which assistants get the ax or which deck chairs get rearranged, we've seen that dance before. Four times, actually - four OC's where the offense has gone away from whatever the OC had done his entire life, and regressed into the same thing Harbaugh has done his entire life. And yet still, some people think this time will be different...
Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you. Fool me thrice, we're fucking idiots. Fool me four times, JFC...
November 16th, 2020 at 10:25 AM ^
The coach has already failed -- no wishing required!
November 16th, 2020 at 5:21 AM ^
You should take a look at some other threads. People think it will get Harbaugh fired quicker if they keep losing.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:40 PM ^
Amen, bro.
November 16th, 2020 at 6:32 AM ^
And how many of those "fans" are likely trolls who mostly post here when Michigan loses?
November 16th, 2020 at 7:22 AM ^
A few. Guess Harbaugh having the worst team in the big ten east, while being the highest paid coach in the big ten, 6 fucking years in gives the opportunity for trolling.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:31 PM ^
Wait---are we sure on the spelling of his first name?
Or have we already forgotten about Ty Issac?
November 15th, 2020 at 9:32 PM ^
Smart move. Instant playing time.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:35 PM ^
He was at the games d he is supposed to commit December 4th.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:39 PM ^
Somebody locate his IP address and block him from reading anything on this blog.

I think we got plenty of safeties in the last cycle (Morant, Paige, Moten). Can we get a 4-star CB that can run or maybe a DT that doesn't allow a QB sneak to get 4 yards? Seriously, what's the problem with Jeter, Hinton, & Smith? How can we have 3 4/5-star DTs and none of them have yet to perform as a capable DT? FWIW Solomon is starting for Tennessee :/
November 16th, 2020 at 5:25 AM ^
Solomon sucks and he doesn't start.
November 16th, 2020 at 9:10 AM ^
Solomon sucks and he doesn't start.
I have no idea if he's any good because I don't watch them. I said FWIW he's starting. According to his bio he broke into the starting lineup against UGA.
November 16th, 2020 at 11:24 AM ^
Maybe it's a "system" thing like Rashan Gary?
November 15th, 2020 at 9:45 PM ^
I've came off the ledge just a smidge and I'm willing to give Harbaugh the chance to at least finish his contract(not that it matters what i think) as long as he does these things:
1) Replace Don Brown. Non negotiable.
2) Get rid of the rest of the defensive staff and get in good recruiters as positional coaches, especially corner and dt. Non negotiable
3) 100% give control of the entire offense to Gattis, including the playbook itself. Non negotiable
4) Get a new recruiting coordinator.
5) Move Jay back to special teams coach and hire in a runningbacks coach. Hell, Jay wasn't bad at tight ends coach if i remember correctly.
November 15th, 2020 at 9:50 PM ^

Our TE coach, Sherrone Moore, is our best recruiter. But, I would like to see the defensive staff overturned and let Gattis have control. We probably need a new QB coach too.
November 15th, 2020 at 10:14 PM ^
I didnt say replace Sherrone even though our tight ends aren't exactly tearing it up. I just want Jay away from the rb position. Jay is a good recruiter. I'm ok with a new qb coach as well.
November 16th, 2020 at 10:56 AM ^

I know, but you alluded to it when said to move Jay and followed up with he wasn't bad at tight end's coach. That sounds like a recommendation to replace Moore unless you're suggesting moving Moore, but retaining him, which you didn't say. Either way, I think retaining our best recruiter is important.
November 16th, 2020 at 5:28 AM ^
I agree with this, although Gattis is a damn good recruiter also.
November 16th, 2020 at 8:54 AM ^
I'm good with keeping Moore as a recruiter, but get him the hell away from the TEs - they suck! And get Nua away from the DT's, for that matter...
As for Jay, he is also a great recruiter and has performed well as a position coach for TE's and RB's. Look at it objectively - not through the biased lens of whatever 'nepotism' BS you believe. Yes, even as RB coach he's been okay. Not sure about ST's just yet, this is his first year alone with that responsibility. I'm happy with what he's done on the staff, in every position he's been in. And with that, I'll also say that the time is coming soon for him to branch out of the Harbaugh family and work for someone else. That's the only way he's really going to improve his reputation as a coach from this point on. Nepotism may have helped him get hired, but he's earned his keep - and he's earned a good shot on the sidelines with someone outside the family.
November 15th, 2020 at 10:08 PM ^
Jay needs to find a job outside of the nepotism umbrella. He really does-for everyone's sake.
November 15th, 2020 at 10:41 PM ^
Everything you list would have to be done by JH. What gives you confidence he could execute any of that effectively at this point?
November 16th, 2020 at 5:37 AM ^
Not much but that is where ultimatums have to come in from the AD.
November 16th, 2020 at 6:55 AM ^
Coach needs to bring back Albert Karchnia, even if it means demoting Dudek, or splitting the role. AK has gotten lethal on the trail, and works as hard as anyone in the business. You could argue CMU is the best team in Michigan. Bring back A.K. A.S.A.P.. His fingers were all over the 2015 class, before he took the chips job. PS: He's from Metro Detroit (West Bloomfield specifically) and can improve our relationship in Michigan.
Cheers

Since OV’s aren’t permitted, I don’t think they were allowed to go to the stadium or meet with our coaches. That explains why it was a good visit. Maybe we should keep all of the recruits away from the program. They can meet Harbaugh and his “quirkiness” once they sign their letter of intent.
