Championship Saturday - Night Games
This is for anybody that wants to discuss these late games. Duke and FSU are tied at the half. FSU may have the advantage because they go 11 deep and Duke’s starting players have logged a large amount of minutes. Out west, Oregon could steal a bid later tonight.
Happy hoops Saturday.
Buffalo pulling away from BGSU late. BGSU stormed back from a big deficit to potentially steal a bid, but now it's an 11 point margin.
ESPN coverage of Michigan State-Michigan.
Wait.
There was no coverage of Michigan. They are handing a number one seed to msu with nothing to say about Michigan.
Time to say Fuck This and WIN THE GAME!!!!
I have to say it’s amazing how overlooked Michigan is.
I’ve been watching way too much basketball all day and all the accolades are for Tennessee, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Gonzaga, and of course MSU.
If we end up making a run it will be that much sweeter I guess. I firmly believe our core lineup can match up against the best of the best. We even have developed a little depth now in a pinch.

If Michigan makes the Final 4 again...the talking heads will spend 5 minutes talking about how they overlook Michigan every year. Then they will spend 55 minutes pointing out how good their opponent is and how good the other two Final 4 teams are.
Locked into Duke / Florida State here. The Seminoles may start bringing in random fans at the Spectrum Center just to REALLY distribute the minutes fairly here....
Rooting for FSU. Maybe we’ll get a 1 seed if we win tomorrow.
Seems like no chance at that. Big Ten title game seems to be irrelevant for seeding because it's so late.
I guess Williamson is pretty good.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:16 PM ^
he dominated the north carolina game last night. Duke looks like a scary team with him. Still like Carolina too depending on their draw
FSU doesn’t seem to be wearing them down
Depth is good to a point. It is counter-intuitive but show me a college team that is proud of being able to go 11 deep and I will show you a team that may be good but cannot finish down the stretch-compete with the best. Here, you win with your starting five and two or three very good role players who can give that starting five a blow. Can Michigan win with a seven player rotation-yes they can!!!
ZION
Damn, he's good.

It was like 10 degrees with the wind chill in the Upper Peninsula today. I have been watching basketball on the couch since 11 am. NMU hockey is on the radio, going into double OT against Bowling Green in a must-win game 2 (edit: judging from comments below guess i'm glad im not listening to bilas)

If it makes you feel any better... it's 73° at 8:15 in the Phoenix area.

JAyCC = my new nickname for Jay Bilas. I also have another fantastic nickname for him, Jay Bias
I am kind of proud of these.
March 16th, 2019 at 11:17 PM ^
I once had a boss who I called Dick for short. He took great exception to that...probably because his name was Jonathan.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:21 PM ^
FSU has life
March 16th, 2019 at 10:24 PM ^
Jay Bilas is now my least favorite announcer. Listening to him call a Duke game removes all objectivity - and fun from the broadcast.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:25 PM ^
I'm sick of Bilas spouting off about the ACC deserving 3 number 1 seeds. UNC didn't beat Duke with Zion, and UM thrashed them but I guess that doesn't matter. Also, the ACC only plays 18 conference games. I know that it really doesn't matter, but it still pisses me off that UM/MSU aren't playing for a 1 seed tomorrow.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:26 PM ^
Jay Bias? He cannot help himself.
At half time, he listens to “ you down with JAyCC, yeah you know me!”
March 16th, 2019 at 10:29 PM ^
I feel like despite being a lock for a 2 seed Michigan is flying a bit under the radar. It’s kind of unbelievable especially since at the team’s best they can play with anybody. We absolutely evisercated Villanova, UNC, and Purdue and may be returning to that form. We’ll have to see what happens tomorrow but I wouldn’t want to face Michigan.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:31 PM ^
Yes, we should all remember that Xavier was the number one seed in the west region last year. That is a lol if I have ever seen one. I agree with your assessment, I don’t care what seed they give us, we are very dangerous team. The team that has played these last two games is very much like the murder team that we saw back in November. Sparty is due for a rude awakening tomorrow.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:50 PM ^
Beilein teams always fly under the radar and out perform expectations every March.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:32 PM ^
Bilas has a Duke hard on
March 16th, 2019 at 10:33 PM ^
Would you also argue that he has blue balls?
March 16th, 2019 at 10:46 PM ^
A Duke shade of blue
March 16th, 2019 at 10:33 PM ^
He's also humorless, condescending and insufferably arrogant.
God, he's annoying.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:35 PM ^
But you have to give him credit, he is never wrong. Just ask him.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:36 PM ^
Bilas is the antithesis of Raftery
March 16th, 2019 at 10:37 PM ^
Onions!
March 16th, 2019 at 10:38 PM ^
You're right - Raftery brings a love of the game, and makes every game he broadcasts more fun. Bilas just sucks the life out of any game, but especially Duke games. Also, fuck Duke.
and Michigan starts out man to man!
I do like that guy. He calls JB the professor.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:48 PM ^
I cant stand listening to him over enunciate every word. He blocked a friend of mine on Twitter a few years ago for disagreeing with his tweet.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:32 PM ^
Game.

They’re both championships.
If you think about it the regular season sets up entirely for the league tournament just as the league tournament as well as regular season sets up for the NCAA Tournament.
Both are impressive feats. Separate entities it’s just whatever is your preference.

March 17th, 2019 at 12:55 AM ^
One of my co-workers is a UVA alum --- per him (and other research verifies this), the ACC ONLY recognizes the tournament champion as a Conference Champion.
The ACC is different from other conferences in that nature. Virginia isn't an ACC Champion in 2018-19. Only Duke.
I agree with this. The regular season is for seeding in the tournament, which decides the champion. I’ve seen a lot of “regular season” champs not win a tournament or playoffs. Do you think those teams would give up that shiny record for a tournament championship? In a heartbeat. In my mind, there is no such thing as a regular season title.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:48 PM ^
Ok, I really hate Bilas, but maybe Bill Walton is my least favorite announcer.
Nah, I'll take batshit crazy over condescending and arrogant.
March 16th, 2019 at 10:52 PM ^
Walton’s a treasure. He’s just completely insane it’s hilarious.
March 16th, 2019 at 11:20 PM ^
Bill Walton is bat guano crazy and he's condescending and arrogant.
March 16th, 2019 at 11:22 PM ^
Bilas is an arrogant prick. Apparently he was instrumental in a landmark lawsuit vs the creators of Barney
March 16th, 2019 at 11:20 PM ^
Dave Pasch sounds so miserable. Having to broadcast with Walton has to be draining on ones mental stability
March 16th, 2019 at 11:47 PM ^
Unless you’re a Conference of Champions slappie
I would like to give credence to humans from the south, or lesser universities, whose 101 books were lesser, perhaps not even great!?; and engender their efforts in sports journalism, and their silly teams and lives.
This arrogance only comes out when I can't watch the topical game on youtube. I'm sorry, everyone.
