Florida and Kentucky continue to be laughably overrated.

But Florida beat LSU who beat Georgia, who beat Florida who got beat by Kentucky. Those teams all must be really good.
November 13th, 2018 at 8:05 PM ^
Unbelievable how much value the CFP committee gives those teams. Such an overrated conference.
November 13th, 2018 at 8:30 PM ^
I think it goes to show that a high tide (in this case, a crimson one) raises all boats... as erroneous as that thinking is. Can't have a consensus #1 (best college team EVAR!) in a mediocre conference that pads its teams' schedules.
November 14th, 2018 at 2:17 AM ^
Honestly, it seems like a down year overall for conferences. There really doesn’t seem to be a single dominant conference. Instead, there are some dominant teams, and conference performances feel like “talk track.”
If I had to choose the “best” conference, is probably give it to the SEC. and it’s not because they are good; rather, i just think every other conference sucks!
November 14th, 2018 at 1:02 PM ^
SEC shills have persuaded a lot of the country into comparing conferences instead of comparing actual schedules. Conferences are so big now that teams from the same conference play very different schedules, so saying a conference is good is not synonymous with a tough schedule.
LSU's "SEC schedule" is actually difficult, as it includes Georgia and Florida, whereas Alabama draws Tennessee and Missouri from the East. Alabama also 3 of the 4 next toughest West teams (Auburn, A&M, Miss St) at home, whereas LSU 2 of the 4 at home.
And that's just comparing two teams in the same division. Tennessee has just two common opponents with Alabama, in addition to head-to-head. They have five common opponents with Middle Tennessee.
November 13th, 2018 at 9:12 PM ^
Mississippi State is 6-4 and coming off of a beat down and still at 21. That seems a tad high.
November 13th, 2018 at 9:42 PM ^
Yes but is Jerry Jeudy the best ever to play the wideout position?
November 14th, 2018 at 7:19 AM ^
Not sure the BIG can talk all that much with PSU that high and a 4 loss NW outfit with two terrible losses being in the Top 25.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:14 AM ^
21 MS State
23 Utah State
24 Cincy
25 Boise
None of these teams have beaten a current top 25 team, and I believe the only team to actually play other top 25 teams during the season has been MS State and they've lost every single one.
HOW are these teams in the top 25??
November 14th, 2018 at 9:56 AM ^
Because the teams behind them suck even more?
November 14th, 2018 at 10:52 AM ^
I think you could make the case for a few B1G teams to be in these spots seeming as how B1G teams have actually played quality opponents whereas these teams, outside of MS State, have faced the powder puff squad all season.
November 13th, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
Can't get excited...must protect my fragile emotions...must hold out on celebrating till two Saturdays from now...I am so so so weak.
November 13th, 2018 at 9:49 PM ^
3 Saturday’s. People forgot we still would need to beat Northwestern.
November 14th, 2018 at 10:19 AM ^
That will not be difficult.
November 14th, 2018 at 10:28 AM ^
Wasn't particularly easy the first time.
November 13th, 2018 at 7:21 PM ^
Lol kentucky (with 3 losses in the last 5 games) gets their shit pushed in for the second game in a row and remains in the top 20... Yea. Ok cool. Hook em
November 13th, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
Gotta make any SEC loss look like a good loss.
November 13th, 2018 at 7:45 PM ^
We need Sparty and Wisconsin to win their next two games. They would both be 8-4 and give us 2 more ranked wins on the season.. seems like a lot to ask for.. also need NW to the win the next two to stay ranked.
November 13th, 2018 at 7:51 PM ^
No, we need sparty to go fuck themselves. We dont "need" anything from them. They had their shot against osu and failed. They suck and them going 8-4 wont do shit for us. You're right about NW though, them being 8-4 with 1 loss already to us will be a good thing for us.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:33 PM ^
Agreed, they can go F themselves. Whatever tiny bump we might get from them being ranked is far outweighed by their need to rot in hell. Better for our recruiting for them to be bad too.
For Michigan it's as simple as this: win out and if Bama wins out there's nothing to worry about whatsoever. OU isn't catching Michigan with that defense. If M wins out and Bama loses to UGA, it will all come down to whether the CFP values the conference title more than blowing out mediocre teams (which is mostly what Bama has done).
I think M would still be in. The committee is supposed to use conference titles, SoS, head-to-head and common opponents to breaks "ties". M would have the conference title and the better SoS. Neither of the other two categories would be relevant.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:50 AM ^
Better for our recruiting if State is bad? Any kid with an offer to both schools who picks State over Michigan doesnt belong at Michigan to begin with. See Malik McDowell and Donnie Corley.
November 14th, 2018 at 8:36 AM ^
Also the Better "Loss"...#2/#3 Notre Dame vs #4/#5 Georgia (Should Alabama lose to UGA)
November 13th, 2018 at 9:00 PM ^
Have a strong suspicion NB is going to beat them this Saturday in Lincoln. Team may even go el foldo to register its disgust with the O coordinator. I think Don Antonio is in a spot of bother up there.
November 13th, 2018 at 9:57 PM ^
If Dantonio senses that we need them to win... He will make sure they get pummeled.
November 14th, 2018 at 6:06 AM ^
Agreed. I said that before last weeks game. Put the house on O$U. Mark Dumtoni is going to throw the game. He took a safety because it was to dangerous to punt and he put a one armed QB on the field. Problem was the arm he needed was the broken one.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:16 AM ^
Any SEC loss IS a good loss.
You should know that by now.
November 13th, 2018 at 7:55 PM ^
Kentucky, may I push in your stool?
November 13th, 2018 at 7:59 PM ^
Gross
November 13th, 2018 at 9:10 PM ^
My thoughts exactly. I think Northwestern would beat Kentucky.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:40 PM ^
That may be the case, but it is undeniable that Kentucky has a better resume and that's what it's all about here. The resume. UK has three losses. Two to top 5 teams and one to a bad but not-horrible Tennessee team on the road.
Northwestern has four losses - one of which to Akron! At home! Akron!
One thing is for sure, a game between UK and NW would be pretty brutal to watch with both teams good at defense and...not good at offense.
Probably a decent chance those teams meet in Tampa or Orlando for a bowl game so you might get to see it.
Also, I just noticed that Northwestern is a mind-bogglingly bad 77th in S&P+!! They might win a game against UK but they certainly would be underdogs coming into it.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:38 AM ^
What is this new "hook em" thing I keep reading. I feel like I am being left out of a really cool joke.
November 14th, 2018 at 10:05 AM ^
Hermann's reply to Zach Smith's Twitter rant on Sunday. Point to him for being dismissive.
November 14th, 2018 at 1:02 PM ^
ok cool. Hook Em ?
November 14th, 2018 at 6:00 PM ^
Points to you too for being dismissive to me. Well played, sir.
November 13th, 2018 at 7:22 PM ^
Cognitive rigidity is hard to combat
November 13th, 2018 at 7:22 PM ^
I'm confused. I had it good authority that the committee wanted to put Georgia at #4.
November 13th, 2018 at 7:55 PM ^
Clearly you are easily confused :) Good luck.
November 13th, 2018 at 7:59 PM ^
Clearly somebody didn't read the entire thread on Michigan's ranking vs. Notre Dame.
Perhaps my sarcasm was too subtle. Ok cool Hook 'em.
November 13th, 2018 at 8:19 PM ^
I have a feeling that's going to get old very quickly.
November 13th, 2018 at 8:22 PM ^
It already is old...
November 13th, 2018 at 8:32 PM ^
So are conspiracy theories. And yet...
November 13th, 2018 at 8:53 PM ^
OK cool. Hook em
/ducks
November 13th, 2018 at 9:17 PM ^
I heard Craig James said “hook ‘em” before he killed.... you know
November 13th, 2018 at 11:11 PM ^
Allegedly
November 14th, 2018 at 4:12 PM ^
hookers?
November 13th, 2018 at 10:20 PM ^
What is the hookem joke? Are we Texas fans now. I love Texas, don't get me wrong, but I want to defeat them.
November 13th, 2018 at 10:42 PM ^
In a screenshot put on Twitter by Zach Smith, Tom Herman responded to Zach Smith’s long, cuss-filled texts with a succinct “Ok, cool. Hook ‘em”
November 13th, 2018 at 10:54 PM ^
Thanks. Zach seems like a real good guy.
November 14th, 2018 at 6:53 AM ^
cuss-filled?...is that anything like puss-filled ewwwww...
November 13th, 2018 at 7:23 PM ^
Just finished watching that last segment discussing ND. I think the only reason they broke was because they all needed a cigarette after all the lovin.
