That was awesome, can't wait to hear who those two kids were.

@winno with some shameless self promotion.
October 13th, 2018 at 10:52 PM ^
I was really worried the way Wisconsin was punching us in the mouth on their first two drives.
And then... well, they kinda stopped punching. And Michigan was just good enough. And once Hornibrook had to pass, forget it. He didn't have a great game, but Michigan was heavily involved in him not having a great game.
October 13th, 2018 at 10:55 PM ^
Wisconsin definitely did us a favor taking their foot off the gas a bit. Offense started putting it out of reach and then they didn't have a choice but to throw.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:12 PM ^
Wisconsin only had a window of a couple of drives where they could try to go back to the ground and it didn't really happen. Of course, it's hard to tell if Michigan was adjusting, too--it seemed like we were keying on the run more, and maybe that could have slowed down the Taylor runs had they been called. No way to know now.
Hard to overstate how critical that narrow PF call was on that first second half drive. Wisconsin was left in a tough place.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:58 PM ^
Except it’s not like they were throwing it. So they never really left going to the ground.
October 14th, 2018 at 12:40 AM ^
The couple 3rd and short throws were critical. We booted them off the field in situations where it felt like they could have run for it at a high probability.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:30 PM ^
AND we were able to do this without #3. Hope he gets healthy quickly. This is a glimpse of what life could look like with him and Winno in the NFL.
October 13th, 2018 at 10:52 PM ^
Wisconsin ran only 49 offensive plays. That is some incredible D right there.
October 14th, 2018 at 7:56 AM ^
In contrast, MSU ran 89 plays (not including their 10 punts) at PSU yesterday.
October 13th, 2018 at 10:55 PM ^
Lmao fckin chase! He does it all!
October 13th, 2018 at 10:55 PM ^
Chase acting like they just won the Super Bowl I love it. I was hoping he'd never leave.

I love the Stache!
October 13th, 2018 at 10:57 PM ^
Unlike prior years, we don’t have a tired defense out there late in the game. Huge difference.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:24 PM ^
Michigan defense didn't take the field until 10:30 in the third quarter. Roughly 10 minutes of rest and reviewing halftime adjustments on the sideline.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:45 PM ^
Michigan had 37:01 time of possession.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:52 PM ^
They also had 20 minutes of halftime, plus our final offensive possession of the first half. They ended up having something like 40 minutes off between series.
October 14th, 2018 at 12:13 AM ^
Herbert'd.
October 14th, 2018 at 10:13 AM ^
This has been the biggest difference. An offense that can move the ball, get a few first downs, put some points on the board, save our defense and give them a lead to where they can be aggressive and get after people all game long. Having a punter that flips the field is a major bonus as well. This team compliments each other in all phases of the game allowing each to shine.
October 13th, 2018 at 10:58 PM ^
They played so good and you can still point out room for improvement. This defense will be scary when they are firing on all cylinders!
October 13th, 2018 at 10:59 PM ^
Run defense was poor today. I have no idea why it was.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:12 PM ^
Because that was the best OL RB combo we will see all year
October 13th, 2018 at 11:19 PM ^
I'm sure some of it was on us, but Jonathan Taylor is a man among boys. He was creating a ton of yards that an average P5 back would not. Slipping through tight holes, carrying people for extra yards, showing a lot of patience. He was very good. If you give Wisconsin a generic running back, Wisconsin's offense gets absolutely trampled tonight
October 13th, 2018 at 11:20 PM ^
100 yards below Wiscy’s season average, troll.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:25 PM ^
183 for 6.3 carry, troll.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:28 PM ^
What were their season averages going into tonight?
October 14th, 2018 at 3:22 AM ^
Going into tonight's game, Wisconsin was leading the conference in yds/game with 284.
Tonight they rushed for 195 (not including the -13 sack yardage here), so we held them ~90 yds under their season average.
Don't know how you can complain about that.
October 14th, 2018 at 9:57 AM ^
Especially since we shut them down in the 2nd half.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:28 PM ^
You do realize how good Taylor is, right? Sometimes a great player's individual performance transcends his team laying an egg.
I'd say you're better than this, but... No.
October 14th, 2018 at 12:28 AM ^
SalvatoreQuattro won't eat it--he hates everything.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:41 PM ^
About 60 of those came on the two end arounds. On conventional run plays they were nothing remarkable.
October 14th, 2018 at 8:55 AM ^
It was 70. And they stopped the 3rd try for 2 yards.
After Wisconsin scored early in the 2nd quarter, Taylor only gained 26 more yards. An end around went for 37 and that was pretty much all Wisconsin got for the better part of 3 quarters. In fact, they only had one other first down between their two scores.
Another great adjustment by Don Brown. Anyone who thinks that was a poor run defense shut off the game after Wisconsin made it 7-7 or has issues that can't be properly addressed here.
October 14th, 2018 at 1:11 AM ^
Higdon had more yards than Taylor. Before you tell me Taylor had a slightly better YPC just remember Higdon also had a TD and the heisman hopeful had jack shit.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:24 PM ^
Run defense was fine. This was a dominating victory over a talented running team. Fans like you are never pleased.
Yes, I signed up just to call you a Debbie Downer.
October 13th, 2018 at 11:28 PM ^
If you aren’t happy with this defensive performance, you are a truly miserable person (or a sparty/buckeye).
October 13th, 2018 at 11:29 PM ^
Stupid and miserable, not just miserable. He's like Maizen from before Maizen was "Maizen".
October 13th, 2018 at 11:51 PM ^
log off, dumbass
October 13th, 2018 at 11:52 PM ^
No...a poor run defense would have given up say...320 yards on the ground.
October 14th, 2018 at 2:29 AM ^
Going into today's game with PSU, Michigan State had the best run defense in the country in yds/carry of 1.3 and yds/game of 33.8.
PSU's Mile Boykin carried 17 times for 162 yds against Sparty, for a 9.5 average.
Does that mean MSU's run defense suddenly forgot how to tackle, or does it mean that Boykin is a talented RB running behind a capable OL?
October 14th, 2018 at 11:30 AM ^
Most of his yards came on 2 carries, a 78 yarder and a 48 yard TD run. On the TD run, MSU missed five tackles.
I don't think this is a good example. MSU did indeed forget how to tackle and PSU's line did not seem very good.
Oh, it's Miles Sanders.
October 14th, 2018 at 3:18 AM ^
Run defense! I was poor. Today (or any day for that matter) I have no idea.

Douche bags like this will always destroy the board. Unless we're up 79-0 in the National Title game you won't be able to please them.
October 14th, 2018 at 10:28 AM ^
They'd complain Michigan didn't go for two to get to 80.
October 14th, 2018 at 7:11 AM ^
Exposing yourself for the know nothing asshole you are once again. save the hot takes for the lions threads genius.
October 14th, 2018 at 9:27 AM ^
You must have missed the FFFF of Wisconsin’s offense with all the stars and shields for offensive line and RB. Taylor was a beast in the first half. Of course they got yards and for a while it did look like they were going to pave us.
But then M adjusted and shut them down until the game was well in hand. That was a dominant defensive performance. If you came away from that thinking the run defense was poor, you lose all credibility.
