The difference is if the players have faith that they will progress at that program and get their chances...That faith, or belief, or benefit of the doubt has not gone to Harbaugh as of late it seems.
I swear the 'disappointing results' from the last 6 years of WR and RB recruits [either underperformance, transferring, etc, regardless of reason], is going to be truly the story of the offense in this era.
QB problems get the attention, but the rest of offensive skill positions not working out have really been a problem.
Mike Smith is right out of the Manny Harris-Derrick Walton-Zavier Simpson mold of small aggressive but level headed leaders at Guard for michigan...love to see it.

Livers is a great kid but man, he is one of the most frustrating players sometimes. Simultaneously a great player and SF of the year candidate (as the announcers just said) but he makes some weird mistakes and bricks at times you would not expect a senior to do.
If you have the “who else can we get instead of / better than Harbaugh” mentality, I want to know a few things:
Why do you think so little of Michigan football? If you think coaches of talent and potential, grade A candidates would not covet a job as HC of Michigan, why do you have such a defeatist opinion of the program and job now. LSU, Oklahoma, msu, Washington, Oregon and FSU all released or ‘parted ways’ with coaches who have made the playoffs or won a natty. Why do you think this is the best Michigan can do?
What has he done, objectively, to warrant this endorsement from the school? What accomplishment, success, or goal has he met that youre scared of getting worse than?
Lastly, if you do support an extension, but are not happy with the on-the-field results, how do you remedy the fact that everything is his responsibility and fault? He hire all the coaches, recruited the players (and thus, any depth problems or poor preparation as a result), overrode the offense, hired the coordinators, etc....is it just cognitive dissonance..?

Or you could just put players in a position to succeed so that they have faith that staying at the program is a better move than transferring....

He is so fustratingly inconsistent, especially for a senior. Way too many 7,8,9 pt games with key bricks.
I was 2 years under Lavell at Pioneer...the beginning of this story struck a chord for real. Great writing @ace
