If that kid was taller, he's a D-I player, hands down. You don't get to be the leading passer in state history by divine right.

Both Certainly they could. I would just think that they could fill a need/land a better talent in 2011 from what I've seen.
Hawkins/Fife I would definitely rather have Javontae Hawkins than Isaiah Sykes. In fact, Michigan's staff should save the scholarship. I hope I'm not bursting any bubbles in saying that the ceiling for next year isn't tremendously high, so why push for someone this year? I'm a fan of the wing forwards with good athleticism, especially ones with a mid-range game. He's got a good looking jumper, just needs to spend more time in the gym working on it. Saw him throw down a nasty one on Country Day in the playoffs driving baseline as well. As for the Dane Fife news, I got wind of this over the weekend at an AAU Tournament. Good for Michigan. In fact, hire the whole Fife family. Dane's father Dan is perhaps my favorite high school coach in the state of Michigan, and Dane is a great guy as well.
Four-star or five-star not important Before next fall's football season, the Rivals rankings will be revised and there's always plenty of movers and shakers. Guys will shift up and down the ranks and Brennen is someone who I can at least personally say at our division of the site that we think fairly highly of. His speed is solid but can use work in the weight room (Eight reps of 225 at our combine). I believe his vertical was fairly solid as well though I'd have to check. Either way, I can assure you he's one of the top 10 players in the state, and as a neutral observer I think it would do Michigan well to recruit the state a little better even though some of the players that fit Rodriguez's system might be found elsewhere. Brennen's room is littered with Wolverines garb, and I think those are great guys to have in the locker room and on the gridiron. Brennen will be at our Midwest Elite camp on May 2, so I know that we'll see some more numbers and get to see how he stacks up even more then.
Beyer Brennen gave his commitment at a Michigan practice today. He had an excellent combine with us several weeks ago, I was definitely impressed with his speed for a DE that's probably going to play with hands-down technique. If either Tim or Brian want to contact me I'd be willing to give some more information. My Twitter is Bryan_MichPreps. Bryan MichiganPreps.com
Trey Received what is conceivably his best offer yet from Duke, I believe over the last month. I'm not sure whether I'll see Trey in person or talk to him over the course of the season, but I may try and make it up to Saginaw for the Mt. Pleasant @ Saginaw game. I'm starting to see it harder that he's going to stay in-state, but that's just me. I think that Amir Williams would be a huge coup for the Wolverines, though. He's 2011 of course.
Gardner I can say that Inkster never ran much resembling what he'll be called upon for this year, but he looked fairly solid in running some option spread in the All-American game as most people probably saw.
Ratings and the Maize I'm not going to discredit the ratings on our site or any other site. Certainly they're there for a reason and, at least in terms of football, debated and disputed by better eyes than mine. Camps, numbers and game footage go into it. I can assure you, to some extent, that a different system like Michigan's is going to value some recruits that might not be 4-stars as highly as Coach Beilein's program, simply for the fact that it is a unique system that often looks for certain characteristics. I say it with no pretense or bias that Tom Izzo would not be interested in Matt Vogrich, but his value to Michigan's system is, perhaps, 3-star warranted (all to be determined, of course). I can't comment as specifically on the football recruits having seen fewer of them (difficult as many more are out of state than hoops), although I plan on seeing more next year.
Tate as a starter First of all, assuming that all of these three are competing for a starting QB job on the depth chart is the first notion. Secondly, one would assume that none will be redshirted. Under that assumption, my thoughts are this: Robinson will likely never start a game. I believe that Forcier is the safe choice in the short term. However, if he struggles this season, especially considering the circumstances, I don't think that Coach Rodriguez will be shy about turning to Devin assuming he progresses as expected by that point. From what I've seen of our footage and camps (as well as others), he's got one of the top two or three arms of incoming guys, and some athleticism that's only comparable because you've got a guy on the depth chart that runs almost a 6-flat in the 60 meter. If Forcier can lead the team to at least eight victories and doesn't give coronaries, he stays. Otherwise, it's turned over to Gardner, and there's probably little looking back.
Well Maybe this is why he couldn't handle being out on an island on defense. It's better for the recruiting class anyway. Let the staff pitch that his absence leaves a need for highly touted recruits to come in and fill the void.
