Of course he would say that - he's 6-0 vs UM and has had national championship runs ended by MSU twice. If you had your pick of rivals to claim, you're going to claim the team you're 6-0 against if that's an option.
They have to finish first by a championship selector. There's no way the CFP committee gives them a chance at a transitive win over any of the semifinalists. Without a transitive win, UCF won't be able to have the SOS to pull off another shared title.
